"Fabulous experience at Peninsula Bangkok"
Thanks Wasan & the lady for the warm welcome and upgrading the room to the high floor, the stay was memorable in many aspects. Buffet breakfast is good even the indoor not so spaces but can see the team has put some effort to manage it well. Clean & cozy, like those kind of resorts feel to me from time to time, what a stunning view. Highly recommended Peninsula Bangok if you are looking a cozy place to relax & recharge. Thanks the team for the effort, appreciate.
"excellent bangkok stay"
highlights: beautiful rooms, wonderful spa, excellent concierge, breakfast buffet, great service, scenic pool, fresh fruit and tea to the room, overall great value for a luxury hotel useful to know: the hotel is on the west bank of the river. you do need to take their boat to the other side to reach the skytrain station, which adds a minimal amount of time but is fun and scenic. some other reviews have mentioned the smell of smoke in the room. we did experience this smell only one time early in our stay, and after mentioning it to the front desk did not have any problems afterward.
"You had me at sawatdee (hello)"
Context: Stayed for 9 days sharing a room with a friend. Upon our arrival, Thailand received news that their much loved and benevolent King Bhumibol Adulyadej passed away. The Peninsula played a bigger role in our stay as they helped my fellow traveler and myself navigate our visit of Bangkok during the time of mourning and sadness for the people of Thailand. To show respect, any place of entertainment ceased selling alcohol, discontinued live music and some places even closed their doors (red light district). This review is for the traveler who is deciding amongst the other five star hotels in Bangkok. My experience at the Peninsula exceeded my expectations and would like to highlight specific incidents. For those of you who are concerned that the hotel is located on the "wrong" side of the river especially for business travelers, it is a non-issue. The Peninsula ferry is quick and the wait is less than 5 minutes. An exceptional service was that the ferry was waiting to take my friend and I (we were the only guests) back to the hotel after a late night dinner (11:15pm) at the Asiatique Mall. And we didn't even tell them when to expect us! Took advantage of their fitness facility and received more attention and advice from fitness professionals than my gym back home. They demonstrated exercises to focus on areas that I suggested and helped me do stretches that bordered on receiving a thai massage! The concierge service is above and beyond. They would make it a point to ask how our evening went and if we had any feedback about their recommendations. Opus, an Italian restaurant they recommended since our planned restaurant was closed that day, served Italian dishes that were better than those back home in Chicago. After our 6th day of visit when we wanted to change up the cuisine, they recommended a French restaurant that didn't disappoint. They made a call to Sky Bar (a do not miss rooftop bar) to see if they were open and serving alcohol. The pool is definitely a differentiator for me. I spent a lot of time at the pool, especially during the first couple of days when it was uncertain which tourist attractions were open after the announcement of the King's passing. Yes, sometimes the pool was busy and you had to order from the bar. But the service has been always fast and courteous. The pool was long enough to swim laps so much so that I purchased goggles on second to last day. My friend and I received such great service that we ended up tipping them generously on our last day. Overall, after a long day of sightseeing and hustle and bustle of Bangkok, I looked forward to ending my day at the Peninsula.
"Luxury personified, truly 5 stars"
We spent 4 nights here in October. From check in to check out, the staff couldn't be more helpful or attentive. The hotel is luxurious, clean and spacious. The buffet breakfast was incredible. We will definitely be back.
"Just the best Hotel in Bangkok"
Just the best Hotel in Bangkok. Some would say it's on the wrong side of the river but the boat shuttle service with your personal pier and air conditioned waiting room adds to the charm of this superb hotel. This was our 3rd stay here and we are returning in March next year. I love Bangkok and always leave with heavy heart and The Pen makes it even harder to leave. The pool area is wonderful. You have a choice of the quiet area or sitting nearer the river with its noise and hustle and bustle of life in Bangkok. The chairs are wonderfully comfortable and the Salas are amazing!!! The pool boys are attentive and are constantly refilling your iced water and offering fresh fruit and mini ice creams. I have seen negative reviews regarding cleanliness of towels which I find very hard to believe. The service around the pool is second to none. The food is superb and there is a varied menu catering for everyone. The restaurants are great -the Thiptara being our favourite. Nothing beats eating dinner on the river here. The buffet restaurant is excellent too. Make sure you save room for the desserts!!! We always have a balcony room as we feel these are the best ones as the bathroom is huge and the dressing area is a great touch. Cases are out of the way and there's plenty of hanging space and large drawers. The view from the 24th floor is breathtaking and at night it's even better. The staff are charming and courteous and always smiling. We love it here and would not stay anywhere else in Bangkok.
