"Still the best hotel in Bangkok"
My God! What an amazing hotel. The complete experience is amazing. From the moment you get into the hotel to the check out, everything is flawless. The check in, the concierge and all the team at the terrace, spa, everyone is amazing! The room were beautiful, the bathroom is massive! Location is great, in front of the river and that breakfast... oh my! Just perfect!
"Great Hotel with a view of the river"
This hotel is why you stay at a Peninsula Hotel. Wonderful staff, airport pickup in a BMW. Great food especially at breakfast. Easy river transportation is accomplished with the hotels restored rice barges to locations across the river to pickup the river boats up to the Grand Palace and other sights. Also, to the city train station to make that very easy. The concierge was very helpful with great tips and arranged a long boat to get us up river.
"Just the place to stay"
Really great location right on the river - you have both sunrise view and for sunset the city with its lights. Pool is a great cool down experience with poolside drinks. Fast is excellent and the staff can't be outdone.Great room - a classic with separate changing parlor. Don't miss the elephant store!
As an American, you do not see this kind of luxury for $200 a night. We were stunned from the moment we arrived at the hotel entrance. Everything is top quality, including service (service was a constant everywhere in Thailand). Our room (river view) was huge and provided an absolutely stunning view of the city skyline and Chao Phraya river. The pool area was also gorgeous and very functional to get some sun. If I had a complaint, I would say that the food was expensive. We had the buffet one morning before we went into the city and it cost us $28 a person, which seems high (although would probably be cheap at this cost hotel in the US).
"Elegant comfort and a refuge from the city"
This is the most wonderful hotel I have ever stayed at, gracious and welcoming in every way. Our room was serene and cool, with huge windows to view the Chao Phraya River and the lights of the city. There is always something going on along the river, and it is an endless source of entertainment. There are several good restaurants on the premises, and I especially enjoyed sitting outside along the river. Relaxing by the pool is a great way to escape the heat of midday, although it can sometimes be hard to find a lounge chair. There is not much worth walking to from the hotel, but you can always take a taxi to another part of town. The hotel shuttle boat ride is always fun, too! If I ever return to Bangkok, I will stay at the Peninsula.
