We had an amazing stay at the Peninsula! The staff was extremely kind and helpful. When we checked in, someone asked us how old our son was. We said he would be 6 months old the next day... the next day, a bellman came to the room with a teddy bear, a beautiful desert and birthday candle for him! It was so thoughtful and above and beyond, we were so touched! The pool is beautiful and relaxing and the food was delicious! The cabanas are great and very relaxing to lay in by the pool. You do need to get out to the pool early though to get a cabana. At least that was our experience. The room had a beautiful view of the city. It was very easy to take the water ferry across the river, and the ferry came and went frequently. We loved our stay at the Peninsula and look forward to returning some day!
"Super riverside luxury"
Great riverside location with easy access to the main ferry point and skytrain . Superb quality at every turn , instantly impressive and then gets even better . Attractive restaurants on site , with the Thai riverside option outstanding . Good spa , long swimming pool .
"Good All rounder for stay in Bangkok"
We enjoyed our short stay at this hotel for two nights on the way to another resort. The service was very professional in regard to check in/out and making dinner reservations during our stay. We enjoyed our paid upgrade to a penthouse room with own terrace overlooking Bangkok with spa.One for the bucket list. Our dinner/breakfasts at the riverside/terrace restaurant was good and catered for our varied family's tastes. The courtesy ferries that ply regularly across the river provide direct access to Manderin Oriental and other transport options. Not surprisingly some lovely dining options at MO including Lord Jims Overal enjoyed our stay at this hotel where you can readily access downtown Bangkok or if you choose stay within the hotel and pool for a luxury stopover.
"An Oasis in the Chaos of Bangkok"
After what seems to be an eternity in the Bangkok traffic, the car enters the grand long drive way filled with orchids, palms trees and greenery and you start to realise this is no ordinary hotel. This is "The Penninsula". The lobby is inviting and smells of lemongrass and jasmine. The front desk team offer you a cold towel and refreshing welcome drink. A welcoming and smooth check in greets us and as you look through the vast lobby you see the hussle and bustle of Bangkok's Chao Praya River. Yes - we have arrived at our favourite place in Bangkok. It is a little far from the main town centre but after numerous visits staying along the river is what we prefer. We stay in a grande deluxe suite. Wow! The view is amazing! Try get a room as high as you can. The room is huge with two separate bathrooms and a separate lounge. The hotel room has excellent amenities. The bed is wonderful! The service is what you would expect - No request is too much for the concierge team. The breakfast is very good. Great choice and variety. However, I would say the hotel needs more fans on the outside river terrace. On one of the nights we had dinner at their riverside restaurant - Thiptara -it was wonderful and authentic Thai food. My wife visited the spa and in her own words said it was "the best massage she has had in Thailand". I will take her word for it....The hotel offers a free boat shuttle service across the river to the river taxi peer and to various competitor hotels. Also a free shuttle to Asiatique market on weekends. Which we found very handy. The only down side is that there is no sky train station near by so you need to take the free boat shuttle across and then get to the sky train station from there. The pool area is superb and feels like a beach resort. It completes the hotel. It is our Oasis in Bangkok. A true 5* among pretenders. Thank you The Penninsula. We will be back for more!
"Time to raise your game"
I've been visiting the Peninsula for over 10 years. Amazing location and fantastic service. Some restaurants are in desperate need of an upgrade. The River Cafe and Terrace should be the place to be given where it is. It's not beautiful or romantic. They need to take a leaf out of Mandarin Oriental across the river or Kleber Terrace (Peninsula Paris) and Verrandah (Peninsula Hong Kong). I've never seen more than one or two people in the lobby either. The bar is always empty. Yet the quality and variety of food is amazing. Please do this hotel justice and invest in your dining areas so that guests want to be here.
