"Worth it for a special trip"
I splurged to take my 89 year old mother on a weekend away as Chicago was on her bucket list of cities to visit. The location of the Peninsula is wonderful, the rooms are very luxurious with tasteful, transitional decor, many techy gadgets (an ipad and touch controls to work everything in the room), extremely comfortable beds and fine linens, a well appointed ensuite bathroom with in-wall TV to watch from the soaker tub -- heaven! The lobby and the Lobby restaurant are elegant and more traditional in decor. The service was extremely welcoming and exceptional. While there was a wee bit of street noise (lots of fire engines down Michigan Ave.), and I did think I detected an early morning fitness class in the floor above us (we were on the 18th), overall no little detail was overlooked. I couldn't believe it when I returned one evening and saw my iPhone charger cord neatly tied up with a perky Peninsula ribbon on it! Everyone was extremely helpful and very customer focused and after watching the videos about the other hotels worldwide, I hope I get to stay in one of the Asian hotels one day too.
"luxury hotels with good in room technology but slow wifi"
Overall this is a high end luxury hotel. Fancy schmantzy restaurant. Super helpful concierge. Awesome large rooms, great beds, robes, slippers, and lots of USB ports in the room. However the wifi is around 2-4 mpbs which is insane for a hotel of this class. I expect at least 50 mpbs in my room.
"Beautiful property with lovely amenities"
The room was generously sized and the amenities were ideal for a business traveler (there could be more drawers for "unpacking" needed for a family). This hotel offers everything, attentively and appropriately formally. Location central to Michigan Ave shops, businesses, and sights could not have been better.
The hotel is located at the heart of the city. Beautiful and elegant hotel.. Staff was very professional and pleasant. The room is very modern with top technology at every corner. Will definitely return in my next visit to Chicago.
Fantastic service Fantastic rooms Fantastic location Stay here if you can. Nicer and more modern than the Four Seasons down the street. Really amazing room with very refined touches. (One funny thing, pretty sure there are lots of pros frequenting the cocktail bar. Employees have to be in on it since it's very obvious. I've been here a few times so this is not a one off observation.)
