Situated in central Madrid, The Principal Madrid is very close to Puerta de Sol, the Círculo de Bellas Artes, Cibeles and Puerta de Alcalá.
The hotel is located on one of the city's most iconic streets, la Gran Vía; a lively street which has plenty to offer in terms of leisure, dining and shopping.
L'hôtel est tout nouveau, les chambres sont spacieuses. Le personnel est très attentif et très gentil. Le restaurant est excellent. En termes de position géographique, il est vraiment très central, au croisement des axes Gran Via et Paseo del Prado.Comment of B. Mohamed Karim , Morocco the 2015-02-18
"Best stay in Europe so far and that is high praise"
There was everything to love about this hotel and our stay. Location was excellent...so good I didn't even know until we arrived...5 days later we were still finding new local areas off the main streets near the hotel (including excellent restaurants and a wine shop). Being in the heart of the city it was walking distance to all the main sights of Madrid (appx. 15-25mins) in any direction. Nearby (3-5mins) was shopping (off the main street) - we even found a street dedicated to women's shoes and leather, along with local resturants (find Lola restaurant!) The hotel was modern and worthy of the 5-stars. Entry is right off the corner of a side street but don't let it fool you thinking you got it wrong....enter the hotel and be greeted by the doormen....where all the lobby is on the 6th floor. Right between the restaurant and bar....which are both lovely. Food was very good and wine at the bar was great. As for where the magic happens - the rooms, they were very modern and comfortable. Beds were very nice, view was great, and bath area was terrific. Only down side was the bathroom size was awkward, trying to get to the heating towel rack from the shower was a little slippery. Lastly, the staff....they were wonderful. Everyone from concierge to room service. Zero complaints. Especially turn-down service ...bottle water and Godiva chocolate. Although the terrace was closed because of the season the week we were there it was beautiful weather. I wish the hotel staff was able to accommodate to take advantage. However, we did ask the bar tender if we could have our wine up on the 7th floor and she was more than accommodating. So we had a beautiful late-afternoon on a private terrace with wine. Con Lobby bar - limited wine selection (surprise for a country of wine) and bar tenders do not know how to make cocktails. Minor issues: there was a difference between weekend room service crew and weekday (a little more relaxed on the weekend). Do Not Disturb door-sign really does work...if you leave it on during the evening hours 5-7PM, you won't get your free water and chocolate and the mini-bar prices are expensive.
"Excellent central hotel"
Excellent boutique central hotel at the edge of grand via. Excellent staff. Great views. Clean modern contemporary rooms and complimentary internet. Roof top bar and views. Lounge and restaurant at 6th level.
"The Principal Madrid"
My wife and i spent a weekend in Madrid and stayed at The Principal. What a great experience, and we can highly recommend this boutique Hotel. Excellent service, great breakfast and spacious rooms. We arrived early in the am, and asked for an early check in. Not only did they assist with this but up graded our room at no extra cost. Very helpful staff, centrally located and great views from the roof top terrace-a must if travelling to Madrid
"Felt like in a good 3 star hotel"
The hotel is very clean and staff very polite, helpful. But the hotel is made from a living building, so is a bit claystrofobic. It reminded me a lit good 3 star hotels in Belgium, where i we stayed a coupe of months ago. The sauna of the hotel is so tiny that even 2 ppl are not comfortable. Elevator is super small and room was very tiny too. It is charming but dont expect exceptional 5 stars feeling.
"Best Hotel EVER!"
Loved Principal Madrid. Reasonable price, excellent location, best service, luxury hotel. If i ever go to Madrid again I will not go to any other Hotel. Principal Madrid has all that I could ask for and more. It truly is a luxury boutique hotel.
