Situated in central Madrid, The Principal Madrid is very close to Puerta de Sol, the Círculo de Bellas Artes, Cibeles and Puerta de Alcalá.
The hotel is located on one of the city's most iconic streets, la Gran Vía; a lively street which has plenty to offer in terms of leisure, dining and shopping.
L'hôtel est tout nouveau, les chambres sont spacieuses. Le personnel est très attentif et très gentil. Le restaurant est excellent. En termes de position géographique, il est vraiment très central, au croisement des axes Gran Via et Paseo del Prado.Comment of B. Mohamed Karim , Morocco the 2015-02-18
"A little smile goes a long way"
My wife and I recently stayed at The Principal in Madrid and while the hotel itself was clean, smart, efficient in its operation, the staff were lacking in their commitment of service to the customer. It didn't seem to matter whether you were a room services maid, front desk manager, bell man or serving in the restaurant or bars, no one seemed to smile or in true regards seemed to be enjoying what they were doing. Whether this is a reflection on the management of the hotel or is simply a trait of working in the hospitality service in Madrid, our whole stay would have been greatly enhanced were the staff of The Principal hotel more friendly and customer oriented in their work. Overall out stay was good but in lacked this key element to rate it as anything higher than just 'average'.
"Extremly nice & charming hotel in Madrid"
I went to Madrid for a 2 days business trip and wanted to stay right in the heart of the city. I really enjoyed staying at the Principal. the staff is ultra super nice and helping. I had the surprise to get upgraded and got a large room with a great street view. Roof top is simply amazing and I would say that The Principal is probably the greatest hotel I ever staid in Madrid. And I go there often, trust me ;-)
"Great Stay at The Principal Madrid"
Exceptional service and great location. The hotel is beautiful and the views from The Terrace are spectacular. Everything is good, including the restaurant. The breakfast buffet was unique and the dinner so good. Rafael Peña was particularly very kind and nice, he made us feel special. Highly recommend!!
"Stay at the Principal, didn't meet expectations"
We booked at the Principal when we saw the updated look as compared to the Westin Palace. The price was only slightly more reasonable and upon reflection we should have stayed at the Westin. We found a few staff members very helpful, Rafael for example at the bell desk was great as. But on the whole people were a little "laissez faire" in their attitude. Having said this, our stay wasn't marred by any untoward happening, it just was no where close to our stay at the Grand Hotel Central in Barcelona, the Principal's sister property. N.B. Use the side elevator, the main one is REALLY slow.
The Principal is a brand new property of Starwood hotels, and they really have done a magnificent job. The location is second to none, as you are virtually in the center of everything in Madrid. The hotel has a really cool terrace overlooking Madrid at almost 360 degrees on the 7th floor. I highly recommend this hotel.
