"Ritz Carlton DIFC - only worth it if you have business in the DIFC area"
I genuinely do not like the Ritz Carlton loyalty programme. You get NOTHING even if you are platinum (which I am right now). Why run this programme if you expect each service to be paid for. I use the programme for Marriot hotels where I get treated so much better. Ritz Carlton DIFC - service a bit pretentious. Never been greeted by name even though that appears to be the Ritz self standard. The property is a bit cramped for a Dubai hotel. The faux English interiors of the rooms is okay but go to England if you want to experience an English room. I have never stayed in a room with any useful view. Internet services not good at all. Keeps dropping. The checkin staff do all the nice things based on what is told to them on the screen and nothing more. No warmth, the courtest questions can be ignored, means nothing. They are nice but don't behave as if they are empowered to do anything to make your stay pleasant beyond what is instructed. The conceirge is so unelpful even to post a postcard. It's okay I will do it myself. Leave a bag' Do it with the BELL BOY for goodness sake! Leave as soon as you can.
"Ritz Carlton DIFC Dubai"
I am always unhappy checking into this hotel. 1. The Ritz Platinum membership means nothing by way of amenities upgrade that i get with the Starwood Platinum programme, although i am given some benefits because I own a company that organises conferences at the Ritz. So why would I even bother. 2. The checkin does not even bother to DELIGHT me (the staff just reads the screen and says all the right word). 3. Absolutely no one even bothers to remember my name. 4. The faux English decor in the room is nice but a bit out of place for someone visiting Dubai, the super efficient country. In fact there are no stunning views outside the hotel (or at least I have never been given a room with a view). 5. When i want to post a postcard, I am asked so many questions, I get the impression they rather not do it. 6. If you take your luggage to the conceirge, they get upset because they prefer you to give it to the bell boys outside. Depressing.
"When something goes wrong, they don't know what to do"
Wrong room type allocated on check-in with incorrect information about bedding configuration and staff seemed completely at a loss with what to do when I came back to see them. I gave up and went back to the room I didn't book; wrong bags delivered to room, and when I told the porter, he argued it with me saying they were my bags. I told him I felt pretty sure I'd know if they were my bags. Overall, no follow-up by hotel on these disappointing issues, like it was easier to pretend nothing ever happened. Not what I would expect from this property and at this price.
"Basic hotel - not too impressive"
Would never believe this was a Ritz. Incredibly basic, and the rooms are quite dated, with awkward layouts. I paid for a "high level" floor, which was apparently level 6. The phone broke repeatedly (which isn't the end of the world, but it would have been nice if they replaced it as requested rather than trying to fix it multiple times without success). I chose this Ritz as opposed to the Jumairah one, as that one tends to have a lot of loud families, but I wouldn't choose this again. The upside is, it wasn't too costly, and the spa and staff were excellent. I may have just been the wrong audience (30, single, on a quick vacation involving a lot of time at the hotel).
"Superb location, service"
Stayed in a two room residence apartment which was huge with a kitchen too. Fabulous bathroom and very quiet. Perfect location for lovely restaurants in DIFC and only 20 mins by cab to Kite Beach. Roof pool had lovely staff who were very efficient. We will definitely return again rather than choose one of the resort type hotels on beach.
