"Beautiful, centrally located hotel"
Beautiful hotel overlooking the Bosphorus and close to Istanbul's key tourist attractions. The service is courteous and warm, spa is wonderful, and breakfast spread decent. The terrace offers panoramic views and a cool, laid back lounge for hookah and drinks. The only negative was the relatively small room size but interiors were spic and span.

Spent five nights at the Ritz Carlton Istanbul this January with my wife and we enjoyed our stay a lot! Very friendly personnel: from reception, over the concierge team, to the spa team, the doormen, security, housekeeping and everyone else I forgot- I'd like to especially mention Serkan and Gökhan of the concierge team and Kenan from the front desk - thanks for all the help!. You made our stay very very pleasant! Great views too, the higher your room is, the better! The only possible downside, in case you want to be right inside the most touristic area, have a look at a hotel in Sultanahmet area - in case you don't mind some cab trips, ignore this sentence.
"Beautiful hotel in need of essential improvements"
This hotel is absolutely gorgeous - the interior lobby, the dining and breakfast areas, the rooms, pool & spa area are all decadently designed and lush with amenities. The view onto the Bosphorus in the morning during breakfast was absolutely breathtaking and a perfect way to start off the day. Staff was also very polite and attentive. However, throughout our time staying here it became clear that a few actions need to be taken in order for this property to truly live up to the internationally renowned tier of quality and service that have become synonymous with the Ritz Carlton brand name. Firstly, while we were initially amazed by how tastefully decorated our room was, we noticed that there was something suspiciously very sticky on the carpet in the main walkway of the room. This was very off-putting and made us question the level of cleanliness maintained in the room as a thorough clean would have definitely improved this. Each time I walked into the room I needed to make a conscious effort to avoid this spot as stepping in it was not the most pleasant of experiences (and left your sock or slipper with something suspiciously sticky at the bottom). The spa area is exquisitely designed and the indoor swimming pool is a wonder to look at. However, the water is kept at an uncomfortably cold temperature. There is a separate area of the swimming pool which bubbles up after pushing a button, however the water in this area is just as cold. The open air spa (which is meant to have 3 jacuzzis) was closed - which we only discovered upon arrival. While we understand this being due to seasonality, we felt disappointed that this wasn't stated anywhere prior to our arrival as we had been looking forward to the open air spa area (and given the jacuzzis are meant to have hot water, it is reasonable to assume they would remain open unless notified otherwise) - even looking at the official website now, it boasts "Open Air Spa area with 3 contemporary Jacuzzis", however there is NO indication that this area is closed). This left us in search of an area with warmer water which didn't leave you with shivers - upon exploring the indoor spa area we were delighted to see a sign indicating a Jacuzzi/Hot Tub. Nonetheless, after spending quite some time looking for this jacuzzi, we were unable to find any such facility. After asking a member of staff, we were informed that the indoor hot tub area has since been removed, however the sign is strangely still there (not sure why no one bothered to remove this'). Despite the beautiful appearance of the spa, these problems unfortunately tainted our experience of the relaxation area. Otherwise the hotel was overall very pleasant - great location, attentive staff, beautiful lobby areas. However I cannot understate that the need to question the cleanliness of one's room (due to the suspiciously very sticky spot in the floor carpet) should not occur at any 5 star hotel, and particularly not at a brand as prestigious as the Ritz Carlton.
