The stay was very average. If someone would like to contact me feel free to do so. There was no going the extra mile and the hot water was not working properly. The food and the service was very good.
Not so Richy Ritz Carlton My room sucks. I heard something is leaking due to rain. Bath tub drainer is not working. Old furnitures. The view is great. Expensive valet parking. Great staff. Old and ugly room.
"Expect more from the Ritz"
Honestly, it's not a bad hotel but for the Ritz, I expect more. As other reviewers noted, the JW Marriott which shares the building is much nicer with better amenities. I found the rooms to be dark and dated looking. Carpets have seen better days. The lack of an accessible outlet near the bedside tables was problematic as my phone/alarm clock had to be plugged in across the room! The lobby is tiny. However, the staff is very nice, maid service was impeccable. Though the room looked dated, the bathroom with rain shower was impressive. Complimentary water and chocolate was a nice touch. There is complimentary coffee by the elevators in the morning. Location is perfect for downtown LA. Overall a decent hotel but not the luxury I've come to expect from the Ritz Carlton.
We had a wonderful weekend at the Ritz Carlton. The hotel is perfectly located for exploring downtown LA. The staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms are extremely functional with a housekeeping staff that cares.
"What You Expect From a Ritz-Carlton"
We had the choice between the Ritz-Carlton and a sister property attached to the same building; we made the right choice. The door staff was very attentive and welcomed us to the appropriately small lobby. Stephen at the front desk seemed to recognize us as we walked in and was incredibly knowledgeable about the property and the many amenities. Our room was top notch and we were pleasantly surprised about the depth of the turn-down service while we ran down to the spa. Oh... the spa, the hour or so that made this trip over the top amazing. We booked a few day-passes (no services), had a glass of champagne, and enjoyed the facilities as we relaxed from a long drive down the PCH. We returned to the room to find everything laid out for us (slippers, robes, chocolates, etc...). Dinner was upstairs but I'll review that separately... let's just say this property ensures all of their facilities are maintained at a very high level. We had to arrange travel to LAX for the following morning. I went downstairs and talked to Patricia, the concierge, who took down our flight information and had us booked for a morning ride within a matter of minutes. She knew the ins and outs of the city and the holiday traffic patterns and seemed to know exactly when we should leave the hotel and arrive to ensure a smooth process. Unparalleled service.
