"Wonderfully grand but expensive "
Positives: -Beautiful setting (old school opulent style) - Restaurant staff at breakfast were phenomenally professional. They tried to remember your preferences from previous morning and nothing seemed too much trouble. Very very good service. The quality of food at breakfast is also good. - Hotel was very helpful with providing tourist support documents for the visa. -Great facilities -Location of the hotel is right opposite the Red Square (Four Seasons is the only other hotel that is a tad closer). So it's perfect for seeing the city and exploring. - Housekeeping came twice a day to clean the room, so it was always spotless. Negatives: -I definitely agree with other reviews about the temperature in the rooms. There is definitely an issue with air conditioning and the rooms felt far too hot. We even changed the room once, as it was unbearable. I was surprised that we were not offered some sort of token concession (a free drink, an upgrade, a discount off the bill or anything at all really). Usually at a 5 star level the hotels are a bit more apologetic when it comes to things like that. -We stayed in the hotel for the New Year's celebration and we were surprised to find out that we couldn't access upstairs terrace free of charge in order to watch fireworks. (I think you had to pay something like £200 per person for 1h of being on the terrace, or you had to buy a package which was more like £600-£1500 per person for the celebration). I think, as you pay so much for the room, you should be allowed to watch fireworks free of charge for 10min. - Concierge staff were unfriendly and cold - Room service food was poor. We ordered 2 different types of burgers one night and didn't even eat half as it wasn't very nice.
Where do even begin...... This property was outstanding. The staff was very friendly. Now lets talk about the guest rooms. 5 stars all the way. Decor and comfort was amazing. View of the Red Square was spectacular.
"Ritz Carlton Moscow"
With a perfect location to visit the Kremlin from the moment I step out of the car to the moment I checked out of the hotel my stay could not have been more perfect simply stunning hotel in every way, I travel 100+ days a year and in all my years of traveling this is bar far my favorite hotel the experience and the guest treatment was amazing!
"A great hotel but...."
Rooms are way too hot (& simply do not cool down below 25 degrees c) and watch out for a sneaky trick where the mini bar price list is squirrelled away and you have to hunt to find it. Some ok quality nuts (but small) and Lindt chocolate bars next to the complimentary tea & coffee were anything but complimentary. In our 4 day stay, we'd consumed several of each. It was a schoolboy error as the half melted (because over heated room) chocolate bar came in at 1,000 roubles (£14) and the nuts 1200 (£17)and we felt very ripped off. On the plus side, the rooms were lovely and a good size and the staff were smart, attentive & responsive. The pool and spa is lovely too. Location is mins from Red Square and many good restaurants. There's also a nice roof top bar which has good views of the city. Watch out for the cliched Russian working girls looking for business - which the staff clearly turn a blind eye to. I guess it's a cultural Russian thing. Would have scored it 5 stars if it wasn't for the mini bar trick (we should have known better).
