"Not up to standards"
Great location near Battery Park and withing a few blocks of the 9/11 Memorial. Lobby and bar are very nice, but the rooms are dated. The carpet in my room was worn and stained, as was an old chair placed awkwardly by the bed. Nice hotel to be sure, but not up to the standards you would expect from the Ritz Carlton.
"A Wonderful Hotel at a Wonderful Site"
It is a good thing that the Ritz-Carolton, Battery Park wasn't there when the Dutch settlers arrived on Manhattan, because if they had been able to start here they would have had no reason to seek other accommodations uptown. This is a hotel that is elegant without gaudiest and makes the guest feel well-cared for at every moment. The view, even on the lowest floors, is a wonder, there are fascinating sites within walking distance, and it is easy to get to the Theater District and the rest of the city by subway or taxi. I had always staid in midtown hotels when visiting New York, but the Ritiz-Carlton makes downtown seem a better option.
I was in NY for a few days. Comfortable room with beautiful views of ny harbor. If in the area again I will stay at the Ritz. Room service was on time. Staff was very warm and friendly making my stay a very pleasant one.
"Thanks for a nice stay!"
My wife and I stayed here for a few days. The harbor view from our room was fantastic. This hotel is a good base to explore the South part of town. You are close to the 911 museum and Battery Park is right across the street. As you would expect all is excellent in the hotel itself. We were able to check in early and the service remained what you expect from the Ritz until we checked out. Thanks for a nice stay.
I've stayed here twice, the first time shortly after it opened a number of years ago. Very pleasant and helpful staff and comfortable rooms. Good meeting rooms as well. Moreover, one of perhaps two higher end properties in the Financial District, so if one needs to be there, obviously a good choice. Annoying negatives are a small restaurant and a minuscule gift shop situated behind the concierge desk, plus no fridge in the room. The other point to be made is that car/cab travel in the city has become even more dreadful over the past couple of years, so getting to mid-town for dinner or a show in anything under 45 minutes to an hour is an exercise in futility, especially trying to go cross town - all the streets seem to either have construction, lane restrictions, delivery vehicles blocking access, and the like. That's not the hotel's fault, but if you want to spend time anywhere other than lower Manhattan, be warned or take the subway.
