"Great location and customer service."
Stayed for one night before flying out to Barcelona. Couldn't have been a better location as we wanted to visit the Statue of Liberty and 911 memorial. Service was good, room was very. Lean. I was a bit disappointed with the Club Lounge. The hours and selection were a bit limited compared to other Ritz Carlton locations and also compared to The Marriott on the East side.
"President's Day Weekend 2017"
This was another fantastic experience from a company and brand that continues to over deliver at every turn. We stayed on the Club level with a view of the Statue of Liberty that was second to none. And sunsets that you just cant believe from the comfort of our room. The breakfast and dinner offerings in the Club lounge made the trip! And although at the tip of Manhattan and not in the thick of things, the weather was Spring like for February so we walked everywhere. This will be a repeat for sure.
"Rude staff, miscommunication, failure to honor email confirmation, bad experience"
Possibly the worst hotel experience I've ever had, which is unacceptable and unexpected given the brand name and especially the price of this hotel. tl;dr: General: The staff was at best insincere and at worst rude after screwing up in a major way; underwhelming room (Statue of Liberty room); empty space where I assume the minibar was meant to be; the ice box was wet inside and smelled of sour decay. Specific: I confirmed over telephone and by email that taking photographs was OK. I showed up after the cancellation period expired and was told that photographs would not be allowed. My fiancée and I were given a recitation of corporate policy and an insincere apology despite having email confirmation. My fiancée booked one night on a Sunday, about a month in advance. We had booked photographers to do engagement photos that day. We were looking for a nice-looking hotel in which we could take a few photographs (in addition to outdoor shots in the city). We chose Ritz because of its location, reputation, and appearance, which we wanted to be perfect on what was to be a very special day for us. Knowing that photos might be an issue and wanting to avoid an awkward situation, I called the hotel in advance of our stay and asked if it would be okay to take a few engagement photographs. I was told in no uncertain terms that it would not be an issue and that the hotel was happy we chose them for this special day. We sent a follow-up email to guest relations to make sure it was definitely OK. Again, no issue was raised. We show up in formal clothing with our photographers and are promptly told that we cannot take photographs. First we were told that it was a matter of guest privacy despite the area being all but empty. Then a manager came and told us that you must pay for a publicity pass in order to take photographs. We were told very sternly that we cannot take photographs here, whatever we had previously been told. The manager then recommended that we take photographs outside, away from the hotel. My fiancée and I were made to feel very uncomfortable for what was the hotel's mistake. To be clear, it is entirely reasonable that the hotel does not want photographs taken in its lobby. It is unprofessional and incompetent for the hotel to mistakenly give permission to take photographs then refuse to honor their word when we arrive and cannot switch hotels. We will not be going back to Ritz Carlton.
"Fantastic as expected"
Usually I can not afford to stay at a hotel like Ritz-Carlton , but since it was the night I got engaged I bucked up the extra cash to make the night perfect. The Ritz-Carlton made it feel even more special. The view of the Statue of Liberty was so amazing especially at night.
Carlos the concierge was truly magnificent. He made my daughter feel like a princess. Eating by the window overlooking New York harbor and the Statue of Liberty was hard to quantify. Breathtaking. Room service was great but the steak was overdone.
