"Love this hotel"
I stay here all the time so I'm a fan. The hotel is quiet and in a good location. The rooms are always clean and the staff is excellent. I would put this on the upper end of the Ritz Carlton experience. I don't eat at the restaurant very often and have found it to be a bit funky. I will definitely stay there again!
"Great Consierge, poor reception, way overpriced room"
Reserved double room for wife, adult daughter 4 months ahead of travel & confirmed several times got stuck sleeping on a roll-way 4 nights @ $1100 a night. Tiny, crowded room! The poor accommodations @ this Ritz was not the same in Chicago or Phoenix. There are many other superior hotel options on the same block in NYC.
"What a horrible restaurant"
The staff and hotel first class. We made the mistake of eating in the hotel restaurant. Should have known better as the restaurant was empty on a Saturday night. My fish was half cook and half raw. It was returned and was not charge ,but it destroy the family meal.
I was staying here using SPG points (good value upon transferring to Ritz points) for my 10th wedding anniversary. In my experience, NYC hotels just do not stack up to hotels in other cities (small rooms, apathetic service, unimpressive decor) and then I stayed here.... First and foremost, Eric at the front desk was pure class. He did his best to take care of us and saw to it that our anniversary celebration was memorable. We stayed in a suite and it was really nice - I have read in other reviews that the decor was dated - but I did not find that to be the case. The bed was super comfortable. There was champagne and strawberries and a letter acknowledging our special occasion. A wise man once said "little details, gentlemen, its what matters most". It seems the RC Central Park gets that. The service was truly outstanding. Location was great - right next to the park, walking distance to broadway and close to the subway (i wonder if anyone else staying at this hotel uses the subway!) I guess the goal in life would be to make this a "regular" hotel vs. a "special occasion" hotel - then you know you made it.
"Always loved this hotel because of the club level-"
The rooms definitely need more plugs and a larger tv as our eyes are getting weaker. Didn't like that they said we would get club level if available. After some complaining they offered club level for an extremely high add on - since we don't drink and we got breakfast with our reservation we didn't accept the ungenerous offer. We were very dissatisfied with the arrangements.
