"Old English styled hotel, that failed to deliver"
Positives: Check-in very quick and efficient - staff well trained. Breakfast good choice Location good for bars and restaurants Negatives: - rooms very dark, no central light, need to use multiple lights across the room. Staff leave lights on in room to add light ( very wasteful) - rooms need refreshing/ my room (908) has broken window so it doesn't close - sauna: anti-climax - steam room wasn't working and gym is tiny - 3 treadmills and some weights etc - they charge extra for wifi - bar staff brought wrong drinks Overall - its average, however given the premium price tag, marked it down a grade. Better options are available.
"Needs a renovation "
Do not be fooled by the brand. This hotel needs an urgent renovation, rooms are old, carpet is old, beds are old. Breakfast is really bad, reception service is slow, when I checked out the lady took like 15 minutes it was like if she was using windows 98. Stay at the W or at any other place.
"What's not to like"
As with all Ritz hotels, they're in great areas. You can also depend on quality over the top service. Buy hey, that's what we're paying for, right' After every morning run the doorman would hand me a cold bottle of water upon my return. They also sent me a complimentary bottle of sparkling wine. Well done. One interesting point here is that they do have a VIP Member Lounge on the 10th floor. In the vast majority of Ritz Carlton hotels I stay at with my status, I'm usually given free access. Here it costs $100 a day and has no drinks after 10 PM. So. Reading a quite book with a nice Scotch in another room to not bother anyone won't work here. The food there is good however as is the view. The staff was very friendly and as always they bend over backward to make a guest happy. Ritz-Carlton is always my first choice for travel.
"Don't be Fooled by the brand"
This is not a 5 stars hotel. Anywhere in the world it would be a 4 star. Breakfast is bad, the rooms are old, the location is good. The service is O.K. The Windows do not have double glass, so at 7 am or 8 am you can hear everything outside. You should also consider cleaning or changing the carpets, they are stained and dirty.
"Consistently excellent Santiago hotel."
My family and I have stayed at this hotel for several nights on each of several different trips. Great location and very comfortable. I highly recommend staying on the club/concierge level as the staff there is consistently excellent. In addition, that level includes a lovely breakfast and delicious snacks/meals throughout the day.
