Travelled here in March 2017 with our two young daughters (5 & 2). We are frequent travelers and have stayed at some of the best hotels in the USA, Europe & Africa. All in all we had a lovely long weekend here but feel like the hotel could do more to take it to the next "level" and be a true 4 star property (especially in the highly competitive south beach luxury market). First the pros: Warm & attentive bellhop staff. Wonderful pool attendants (Lourdes & Jimmy) - as soon as you hit the area - they were approaching to set you up and help find an ideal location for your group. Concierge was very astute and gave us a good recommendation for a casual high quality Italian dinner and got our family a last minute reservation at a very "hot" restaurant (Yard Bird). The gentleman (Everton I believe was his name') who manned the pool side juice bar was awesome. Beach attendants were good and the food servers (Erica and Nico) were great. The Cons: Facilities were a bit tired & the housekeeping of the hotel needs more attention. When we checked into our room - there was a leftover used bottle of wine and beer bottles left in our fridge. The crib we had previously requested was not in the room and the couch looked dingy. When we went to the pool area the following morning - there was leftover garbage strewn around the area from the day before. Finally - all of the highchairs we used at the hotel's restaurants were flithy and needed a good scrubbing. All in all - the hotel could use more landscaping to beautify the property. Finally - although a ritz kids club is featured on the website - there was no marketing for the club at the actual property and as a result - it was never opened b/c no one signed up for it (which needed to be done 24 hours before). In contrast - the Four Seasons Palm Beach (where we had stayed the year before) had a kids club that remained open every day and kids could just pop in for a portion of the day - this feature alone would bring us back to this hotel.
"The Ritz Carlton always delivers"
You can't go wrong with the quality and service of the Ritz Carlton. The staff are warm, friendly, and helpful. It is located in a prime location in South Beach, easily going North or South. Bonus: the pool is warm.
"Beach service is exceptional"
Most everyone at the hotel was hardworking and lovely, and I wanted to give an extra thank you to the team who works on the beach. The men who set up the chairs and umbrellas were accommodating and worked tirelessly all day everyday; the group who ran the food service for the beach also were very good at their jobs -- super friendly and cheerful. Extra shout out to Peter Martinez on the Beach Team and Liam, a dedicated and lovely rep of Ritz Carlton.
"High Hopes Faded with Poor Weather"
This was my 2nd stay at RC. I had previously stayed at their Aruba location. On this trip it was my wife and myself staying 2-3 days in SB after a work meeting in Miami area. We really had looked forward to the trip and in the end I had to say we were very disappointed. I’ll prompt the review by saying the staff @ RC SB 5+ STARS. Everyone we encountered on the trip provided great service and was very impressed. We had an ocean front room on the club floor. The room was great. Had a large bathroom, seating area and a small balcony. We were pleased with the accommodations. My main complaint was the fact that the spa/fitness areas were closed during my stay. The weekend we were there (early March) the weather took a turn for the worse (rain, 25-35 mph winds); therefore the pool & beach were very limited during our visit. Therefore, my wife and I would have enjoyed a full service spa and fitness area during the stay. I have mentioned this fact to a number of friends (being a Platinum Member with Marriott) and everyone was shocked that a RC didn’t send an email before our stay notifying us of these closures; especially since the room rates were running at traditionally “High Season” rates. You can read the 30+ reviews I have written over the past few years and I don’t think I have ever complained once about the price of a hotel but I thought it was warranted due to the fact it was not a truly full service resort/spa as advertised during our stay. I would consider going back but I would have definitely chosen another Marriott/RC resort in the Miami area if I had known about the renovations.
"Awesome place to stay. Exceptional service"
Just a great place to get away to. Perfect location. Pool was great and the beach even better. Staff is extremely professional and polite. Lincoln Drive is across the street for any type of restaurant you would like with the South Beach flare.
