Sehr schönes Hotel in toller Lage. Comment of P. "Silver Anniversary Trip"
Stayed at this special hotel for its city centre location, pool and spa facilities and reputation for outstanding quality of service. We were not disappointed. The staff were superb and the hotel has style and comfort in abundance.
This was only the third time I've stayed at a Ritz and perhaps I have unreasonable standards...... but, for the money, I felt that it left a lot to be desired. Our room was in an awkward place and difficult to get to. Inside, the chain on the door was broken and hanging by a screw. The desk leg was broken and wobbled dangerously if you so much as looked at the desk. The towels in the bathroom were frayed. All in all, the room was fine - just not what I expected from the Ritz. On the plus side: - the staff was wonderful -the spa was amazing -the location couldn't be better -charming Austrian cottage and food on the roof top for the holidays
"A truly remarkable stay!"
My stay at the Ritz was fantastic. The property is tastefully luxurious and well situated for siteseeing. The room was exceptionally comfortable, well appointed, very modern but with plenty of charm. The hotel amenities are extensive...there is even a pool! The spa was very nice but to be fair, the services a little pricey. Most notable during the stay was the amazing staff! From first contact with the valet, to witty banter with Rory while enjoying Glühwein at the rooftop deck, to excellent guidance by the concierge staff, to cocktails by the extraordinarily talented, and genuinely friendly bartender Michael, greetings with a smile by the housekeepers, all the way through to a friendly checkout and farewell...this staff has it right! For the duration I felt less like a hotel guest and more like I was staying with friends. I mentioned the superb concierge staff in general, but Stephan was truly a pro! Dinner and siteseeing suggestions were spot on and while I was preparing for a morning run, he even offered to take me with him on his route! Never, in hundreds of hotel stays, have I met such a collectively friendly and helpful team! I feel guilty for not have written down more names as there were others that deserve by-name recognition for making my stay truly superb! I can't wait to return...and next time, once I get my pace up, I'll take Stephan up on that run!
"New Years Eve Trip"
Outstanding boutique hotel that was perfect for a New Years Trip. Restaurant and penthouse celebration were both excellent as well as tours and location for general area. Great location. Accomodations really nice and service very nice. Bar in hotel was exceptional.
"Comfortable if not Remarkable"
My partner and I enjoyed our stay here and would consider returning. However, while the Ritz Vienna is comfortable it isn't particularly exceptional in any way. At nearly 900 square feet, our 2 room club suite on the 6th floor was very spacious and had a decent view toward Stephansplatz. However, it reeked of cigarette smoke. This smell abated over our four night stay and opening the windows helped of course. The room needs a technology update. The TVs are old, slow, and mounted unattractively. The two ~40" Samsung TVs look exactly like the one I just got rid of that I purchased in 2009, and they are mounted unattractively nearly 1 foot from the wall on big, swinging arms with all of their cables on display. Additionally, they are very slow. The advertised Bang and Olufsen audio system was no where to be found. Instead, there was only a Geneva sound dock equipped with an iPod dock circa 2005; it even had one of those telescoping metal antennas - quaint. The in-mirror TVs are apparently new and not currently functional. The two lighted "make-up" mirrors didn't light up. The heated floors didn't work even after an engineer came to work on it. However, the dual shower heads have excellent water pressure and two can shower at one time. While the furnishings are comfortable and of high quality (the sheets are great) they seem like they could be placed in any Marriott hotel anywhere in the world. And for a room with so many tables, I found it odd there were no decorations like flowers or any type of decoration at all. Breakfast in District was very good as the buffet plus the option to order a-la carte dishes like waffles, pancakes, and eggs Benedict increases the perceived quality. The service and views were good. The spa was very nice, although I would have appreciated a hot tub - they do have a very long indoor pool, a sauna and steam room. All in all it was a comfortable stay but not particularly exceptional.
