The Roger New York is located on Madison Avenue. Just blocks from Grand Central Terminal and the Empire State Building, and a short stroll from fashionable SoHo and Madison Square Park.
"Excellent base for New York trip"
We stayed here for 4 nights in February with four children. It was a central location being close to lots of the main attractions but being slightly off the beaten track so not as noisy as hotels on Time Square. I would definitely recommend although it would have been beneficial if when booking in we had been told about promotions in the bar area as we found out on the last day that there was free wine tasting and a happy hour which we had been unaware until the day we were checking out.
"A Wonderful Stay and Profound Gratitude"
My husband and I have been staying here on our once or twice trips to NYC for quite a while. We like the staff, the ambiance, the location and the low key charm of the place. I always recommend it highly to my family and friends. On our most recent trip, however, we learned that the hotel you chose can, quite literally, help you avert tragedy. Coming back from his day's work, my husband suffered a totally unexpected health emergency (he is fine now) just a block from the Roger. Rushing into the hotel, he gestured for help. In the space of minutes, the desk staff summoned an ambulance, while a staff member and guest performed first aid and CPR. I was upstairs in our room, and the desk staff summoned me in a professional and kind manner. After we returned from the ER, the staff (the manager was superb) again treated us with great kindness and warmth. I will forever in debt to the efficiency and preparedness of the Roger's staff and how those wonderful folks reacted to our emergency. I never thought that I should pick a hotel as if a life might depend upon my choice. Thanks to the Roger, I know how important that is.
"Definately recommend this hotel!"
All staffs were ready to help. Rooms were much bigger and cleaner than other boutique/design hotels in this area. The Roger does not fail to have both edgy style and reasonable pice. Highly recommend this place to anyone with any purpose of visit.
"Service is excellent. However there were paper thin walls and a sub-par fitness facility"
I heard my neighbors conversations loud and clear from my room. I also heard their TV. They weren't being loud by any means, the walls do a poor job of insulating sound. The equipment in the fitness facility is limited, outdated or broken. I've stayed here on more than 5 occasions and the service/staff have always been excellent. The bathrooms are extremely small but they do the job.
The only thing that bugged us was that the AC wasn't turned on. We caught a real warm day in February and the AC was not able to be used, so the room was 80 degrees upon arrival and we had to cool it off with natural air.
