"LOVE this hotel! The best location in London"
This is a beautiful old hotel. The rooms are big and spacious over looking the Thames. It is a 5 star hotel with all the amenities situated next to Whitehall and the Banquet Rooms, a block from the Horseguard Grounds, Whitehall Street, Westminster Abbey, Parliament, 10 Downing St., War Memorials, Churchill Underground War Rooms, Trafalgar Square, the London Eye and much more. Wonderful full afternoon tea. The tea here is the best i tasted. Clean, spacious and comfortable.
"Great Location Fine Hotel"
Hotel is located in the heart of all London has to offer. The rooms are ample sized and modernized in an old building setting. Service and staff are very good. We did enjoy breakfast but we did not have any dinners within the hotel. The breakfasts were very good. The best part of the hotel is its location as the hotel is a bit expensive for what you receive but I think its location garners its price.
We had a delicious afternoon tea here, where the staff were really lovely. It was well presented and enjoyed the usual sandwiches you get at these events. Cakes were very tasty and the pot of tea was large enough not to need refilling. The only thing that spoiled the occasion was a woman on her own near to us who spoke in a Spanish accent to someone on her iPad. I know in this day and age people use electronics but we wished she had used headphones as the voices were so loud and spoiled what should have been a peaceful, relaxing afternoon tea A polite notice on display could have avoided this.
"Another lovely stay at The Royal Horseguards"
We stayed for a weekend and had a room looking over the Thames and the London Eye. Checking in was nice and smooth, hotel shining inside and out and everyone doing their upmost to assist you in every possible way. The rooms aren't huge but are very clean and classically designed. Suitable for such a classic building. Loudspeakers and tv in the bathroom is still a rarely seen, yet cool, feature. Breakfast is a buffet with everything from fruit, bread and ceral to tomatos, eggs and sausages. No one leaves hungry. Service seemed slightly busy although it was only around quarter full. Concierge was very helpfull with directions and the gentleman at the door went out of his way to arrange taxis whenever needed. Having said that, the location of the hotel is so central, that for "normal sightseing", no taxi is needed. Check out was very smotth. Having booked via their website, they already had my credit card details, so no need to pay or sign anything, just hand in the card key and you're off. Before leaving, we felt like a cup of coffee, so we went and sat in the hallway at the tea room. After some time, and having been passed by several times by the staff, we got up and found a member of the staff willing to take our order. It's not that we mind moving but again the staff in the dining areas seemed really busy, which is a pity, as everything else works really well. Still one of the great hotels of London but now with the added feature of "a little room for improvement".
"A real treat!"
Visited this hotel several years ago and it still stands out as a highlight of my trip to London. Well located, excellent service, and definitely gives off a "London" vibe. Would return without a doubt!
