"Great Place, Good Position"
Great place to stay, could not fault it in any way. Did not go to the restaurant for Lunch or Dinner but the included Breakfast was very good. The hotel is central for a lot of things to do and see around London and we walked to everywhere we wanted to go to.
"Incredible weekend. Thank you!"
What a weekend to visit London. We watched the amazing marathon from our room hearing cheering, clapping and Big Ben. From the hotel it was a short walk to the Apollonius Theatre to watch the faccinating story of Travesties. Now back to the hotel to raise a crystal glass of champagne to our 30 wedding anniversary!!!
"50th Birthday prezzie"
Disappointed, no natural light in room, window boarded up. Tried bath as had a TV in there. Tv picture poor, speakers didn't work at all. Soft lighting in bedroom but not in bathroom. Only 1 robe supplied in wardrobe. Didn't chase up as only there for 1 night. Stayed at many 5* hotels around world and this didn't come close. On a positive reception staff polite and helpful on arrival.
Chose this hotel based on reviews which made it sound like a five star hotel. Upon arrival, got out of the cab and we opened the hotel's door and rolled our cases into the lobby. Surprised that there was no doorman as we had read about ~ perhaps on a lunch break or anyone to assist with luggage. Fortunately, we were not in need. We then waited in line for the one person at the desk to handle our check-in. Nathalie was very friendly, personable and welcoming and provided a nice experience. Got up to the room and immediately noticed how very masculine the decor is and how dimly lit the room is. We were told at check-in that there is no view, but you can slide open the opaque blinds on the windows which allowed for a bit of additional light. Nathalie was right about being a no view room as the view was that of the back side of a few walls of the hotel which was full of wires and poles, tar on the plaster, one window boarded up with a wood board and a view into the hotel's laundry supply room. The white porcelain sink is chipped and has two corroded handles. The sink kept clogging so simply pulled the drain piece out and left it out. The wifi was hit and miss ~ one night down for a stretch! Day four, hammering began at 9:00 A.M. Asked three different employees on three seperate days if the desk chair could be changed out because when you sit , you sink at least two inches and then your legs are resting on the Wooden Frame of the chair and the desk becomes a bit of a (child's) high chair ! My request was totally ignored. It would have been nice to have had a full length mirror or a laundry bag or stationary or a vanity box. Surprisingly, when entering the lobby at about 8:45 one night, the one employee in the lobby and standing at the desk nearest the stairs, would not pick up his head to acknowledge our presence with at least a "good evening or a hello". Another evening, I wanted to speak with someone at the reception desk, saw the door behind the desk was open and I said hello a couple of times but no one was answering. Perhaps no one works at the desk after 10 P.M.'' On the up side, the hotel is in a terrific location and is within walking distance to most major attractions. Our room, 809 was spacious with a king sized bed, lots of drawer space should you choose, a closet and a small refrigerator. The narrow and extremely deep tub has both a hand-held and a rain shower which work really well. Linens are great! Bottled water, soft drinks and a bag of potato chips are left in the refrigerator each day. The room was very clean and the air-conditioner worked very well. Didn't have breakfast here which is 24 pounds p/p daily.
