"Another Great Stay"
This is the 3rd time we have stayed here and as always the staff make your visit personal. Everything was as you would expect from this level of hotel from the moment we checked in (thank you Adelina) to the moment we left, the level of customer service was excellent. The room was fantastic, with great views and was a great space to relax if you wanted some "me" time!
Our family of three enjoy traveling in November because of the festive ambience throughout any European city. The Royal Horseguards Hotel was no different. After crossing the street from the Embankment Station, we arrived in the midst of holiday decorations and class as we entered the hotel lobby. We were greeted with smiles and a wonderful staff. No matter which staff member we approached, we were addressed with warmth and care. Although our initial room was spacious and modern with floor-to-ceiling windows, it overlooked the front of the hotel which was pleasant. However, we decided to request for a river view. We were not disappointed! The room was well-appointed and large enough for a rollaway bed. The heated floors in the bathroom was a treat. The view from two very large windows was spectacular. We enjoyed looking the lights glistening on the river and the London Eye at night. Housekeeping and front desk staff were efficient and friendly. The front desk staff addressed our need for a cell phone cable immediately. Our morning routine started with a delicious breakfast in a lovely dining area. The hot and cold choices were plentiful and good for our young son. The concierge was very helpful in assisting with dinner arrangements and transportation. The hotel is situated within walking distance of major sites. We enjoyed walking to Covent Garden, Trafalgar Square, Westminster (Big Ben and Westminster Abbey) and a brisk walk through St. James Park toward Buckingham Palace. The London Eye is just a beautiful walk across Hungerford Bridge which is just across the street from the hotel. During our stay, there were a number holiday squares set up with a variety of delicious food stands. The hotel entrance faces a quiet street that was a lovely way to end an active sightseeing day. We will definitely stay at this hotel again.
We stayed at The Royal Horseguards the weekend of 10th/ 11th Feb 2017, it was excellent, staff were very nice, room was spacious and comfortable. Will definitely stay here again. Excellent proximity to major attractions, nice walk to the West End, Close to The Mall, Trafalgar Square etc etc
"Very nice luxury hotel but....."
The buffet breakfast is not a 5 star hotel worth. Either a good 4 star. And the organisation at the breakfast reception is terrible. You have to queue while lots of tables are free but not cleaned up....
"Perfect in every way"
Just returned from a wonderful stay at the Royal Horseguards and still can’t quite believe it was real. I booked a river view room as a birthday surprise for my husband and was thrilled when we were upgraded to an executive river view instead. The view was truly amazing, so much so that we slept with the curtains open so we could watch the illuminated London Eye while lying in bed. We awoke to the best alarm clock in the world, the chimes of Big Ben. The location is perfect and the hotel manages to provide 5 star luxury while retaining it’s charm and history, not an easy thing to achieve. The style of the hotel is very classic and tasteful and the service throughout is outstanding. The bed was huge and so comfortable with lovely high quality linen. So many little touches that we loved: the mood lighting, TV in the bath, heated bathroom floor, complimentary mini bar, I could go on all day! What really makes a stay here special, however, is the staff. I don’t know who is responsible for recruitment and training but they really know what they are doing. Even before we arrived at the hotel I could tell from the booking process that we were in safe hands. I greatly appreciated the assistance in identifying the right type of room for us to make sure the stay was extra special. Arranging an early check in for us was also a lovely touch. I had simply asked if we could store our luggage as we were arriving early and was not expecting this at all. I often find hotel stays a bit like a mechanical conveyor belt process but on this occasion I genuinely felt treated as an individual whose needs and wishes really mattered. It’s going to be very hard staying anywhere else now as this hotel has set the standard so high. My only regret is that we didn’t stay longer.
