"Less than satisfactory"
We were kept waiting in the lobby and not able to check in until 1 1/2 hrs past regular check in time. Our bags were sent to the wrong room! The air conditioner wasn't working properly in the room and subsequently was constantly leaking onto the floor. There was a fire alarm tripped on our first night, not once, or twice but 3 times starting at 4:00 in the morning! We never received turn down service to refresh towels or necessities yet the service was carried out directly next door! The saving grace was that the food was very good. Will not be staying here again.
"Weekend Visit Before the Summer Rush"
Wanted a weekend getaway to the island before the summer crowds. Contacted Philett who was able to arrange a 10th floor King Room for us. Didn't get to visit with her until the end of the stay but she had Jennifer take care of us on arrival. Great to again visit a beautiful resort on the gulf coast where you can count on the staff to make it relaxing and easy. Met great guests at the H2O swim up bar. Went to the club Saturday night at the property next door. Great music with a dance floor and drinks and a short stroll back to our suite. Spent time on the Strand in all the shops, stopped at the Poop Deck for afternoon drinks and watching the activities on the Seawall. Got to see one of our favorite resort employees, Margarite, when she brought our complimentary breakfast. On the way out has to make our last stop at The Spot for lunch Sunday. Once again, though busy we were able to get a table in the front bar area looking out to the gulf. Again, the stay at the San Louis was well worth the cost. We enjoy the resort with an ambience available for however your feeling - partying at the pool, relaxing at the Grotto, or just laying in the sun
"Nice hotel, great foyer & close to lots of things."
One of my favorite hotels in Galveston. I love walking up the lobby. The pool is great. The service overall is very good. My room service for breakfast was very late, cutting into my day but the lady was so nice when she finally made it. The rooms are nicely decorated and big. The doors are very thin, you can hear people walking through the hall. The wait for the elevator can take awhile. I do like that there are many good restaurants on the property and within walking distance. I make an annual trip here just for the weekend and for the most part, I enjoy my stay.
The heated pools and the view are great. However, the rooms are a little dated in my opinion. For the cost per night I expected the room/bathroom to be nicer (we were on the 14th floor). The drinks at the pool are way over priced but overall we would stay again.
"Best of Galveston "
Stayed 1 night here before going on a cruise. Top rated resort. Location is center of everything. Overlooks the beach. Rooms are excellent, roomy and clean. Beds are awesome. Hot water was continuous even though 2 long showers. Staff was on point.
