"Perfect weekend away"
My husband, son and myself wanted to get away from the cold of Chicago so we stayed at the San Luis Resort. We stayed on the 16th floor. We had stayed at the resort almost 10 years ago We SO enjoyed our recent visit again. The rooms are amazing-very spacious and CLEAN. I love the balcony so you can enjoy the beautiful view of the gulf and the sun rising over the water. Plus it is only a walk across the street and you are at the beach. On our floor in the morning, Starbucks coffee and fresh orange juice and cranberry juice are available, along with fresh croissants, pastries, and muffins and also freshly cut fruit-cantaloupe, pineapple and muskmelon. Then at noon bottled water is set out along with a bowl of fresh fruit-apples and oranges, and 4 glass bowls with candy-hard candy and chocolates. We also enjoyed the pool area. There is a water slide that goes into a small pool-which our 9 yr. old son loved. Then there is a hot tub alongside the waterslide pool. There is another hot tub next to the largest pool-which by the way is very warm-a perfect temperature. There are plenty of lounge chairs and tables and chairs with umbrellas for those that want to get out of the sun. We visited Cup and Cone in the evening. They have fabulous desserts-especially the gelato.
"Everything here is EXPENSIVE for no reason"
You cannot carry your bags up w a cart UNLESS you have a bell boy. View was great, but I'm not a lemming or rapper who throws money away to impress others. I am selling my company, so money isn't the issue. WASTFULNESS is. I'm old school. I will pay for my bags or car parking when needed, but I don't wanna be forced.
The hotel is beautiful and belies its age. I grew up in Galveston in the 80s and the San Luis was always a prominent landmark on the Seawall. The building itself is old but you would never know it. Modern furnishings and beautifully appointed. Our standard king room was huge. My only complaint was that the air conditioner in our room was loud and rattle-y. I would have asked to switch rooms but by the time I noticed how annoying it was our toddler was asleep and it would have been too hard. So I ended up hardly sleeping a wink. But I'm super sensitive to noise when I sleep. Other than that - a wonderful little getaway!
We didn't stay here but came for drinks and for the piano music. We had such a great time - great drinks and amazing music! The entry, lobby and bar were all beautiful, making me wish we had stayed here.
"Best Event Location EVER!!!"
I hosted my Rest & Redirection Women's Retreat there Oct 14-16 this year! So glad they responded to my email to their events coordinator. The service from beginning to the end was excellent. The staff who were not even involved in our services were accommodating, the food was tasty and we enjoyed every meal and we had 4 all buffet meals and had no complaints!!! The event coordinator Danielle Rodgers and her team, William (Zoe's Dad) at the front desk made my attendees feel welcomed and made adjustments as needed. Mr. Barbarosa (not sure of the spelling) saw the registration team setting up and offered cold water! He delivered it himself!! The rooms were amazing all with the ocean front view!!! The excellence that this hotel staff operated in made my event even greater!!! I would definitely choose this hotel again and again!!!
