"Beautiful Atmosphere and architecture"
Definitely enjoyed staying here on my last business trip. Loved the architecture and the front desk guy.. I think his name was James was friendly and provided excellent customer service. Right across from Central Park and within walking distance of great restaurants, bars and shops.
"So I'm a bit sad"
I'm a member of the Preferred Hotels frequent stay program, which included an upgrade. I checked in fairly late last night so, understandably, nothing was available. Early this morning, though, I asked to be upgraded if something became available during the day. I was told that several suites were vacating but they might be "too expensive " for me to be upgraded to them. I used to be a regular at the Waldorf and Waldorf Towers and never, ever, was told that an upgrade was above "my grade"--and I received some wonderful upgrades to absolutely beautiful suites. (The Waldorf is now closed for condo conversion.) Returning this afternoon I was told that I couldn't be upgraded because the hotel is full. I hope that's accurate, and that the lack of an upgrade isn't due to my not having paid enough for my original room (which was a good price). This issue aside, the hotel is very nice. I suspect that were I a "regular" my experience might differ.
This is a wonderful hotel with great attention paid to each guest. The suite was perfect with everything necessary for a thoroughly enjoyable stay in the heart of Manhattan. Right across from Central Park and within walking distance of great restaurants, bars and shops as well as Broadway shows.
Extraordinarily pleased with our stay. If you love Super-modern, nuvo, stay elsewhere. But if you like upper-east side luxury, you will be as happy as we were. We enjoyed an interior suite that was spacious, well-equipped, luxurious yet still homey. Beds comfortable and shower terrific. Staff was extraordinary and quite welcoming. We will be back when staying in NYC again.
I have never enjoyed a hotel like I did this one. It is located across the street from Central Park. Our room was huge by NYC standards, and the lobby especially is stunning. However, what sets it apart and makes it an experience is the service. The doormen, concierge and elevator attendants made this frazzled mom feel like royalty. They even do a turn down service, and leave Godiva chocolate for you to find upon your return. I wanted to chain myself to the door and never leave.
