"Magnificent accommodation "
Visited here and in September, and would have to say this is one of the nicest places we have ever stayed. The staff were extremely helpful. The rooms were magnificent, and with great views. The meals were limited, but you could eat in the neighbouring Katatani resort, and charge it back to your room. The complementary afternoon high tea, was a pleasant surprise. The infinity plunge pool was fantastic. Would definitely stay here again. This is a fairly expensive hotel, if you were planning to stay for a long period of time you could stay at the parent resort ( Katatani beach resort) and stay at the Shores for a night or 2 as a treat.
"Beautiful Property; Overpriced"
Make no mistake from my overall rating, this property is beautiful; the rooms are large and with your own pool, the employees are all extremely nice and helpful, it's a great place to stay. The three stars are a result of the price for what you get (the value). I have stayed in beautiful villas before similar to this one and for a fraction of the price AND they were all inclusive. Not only were they not all inclusive here, but I felt that they 'nickel and dime' you for everything. Also, their sister hotel, which is literally attached to the Shore, has restaurants and bars that actually charge less for a similar item. It's a bit ridiculous to pay more just because you are in a bit more of a private area. My husband and I found we spent more time eating and drinking at the sister hotel or right across the street at some of the restaurants than in our own resort. Plus the sister hotel has lots of activities and you can get a massage or your nails done for a great price while sitting in front of the pool. That service is not offered at the Shore. Instead they have an overpriced spa. The other thing you should know is that there are lots of insects and you will likely see geckos (possibly in your room) so if you are a bit squeamish this place might not be a fit for you. Finally, the rooms are up a hill so it's not one of those places that if you forgot something in your room you can just run up quickly to get. You will either need to get someone to drive you (they were usually always available for that) or use it as a way to get some exercise! In the end, the place is gorgeous and secluded if that is what you are looking for. The employees work hard and are great and my husband did have a nice time. Just know though that it comes at a price and that price is not cheap! If I could do it over I probably would have looked around more and maybe tried to find an all inclusive resort.
My husband and I stayed four nights at this hotel and truly loved it. It was in a great location about an hour away from the airport. There were a lot of little shops and restaurants nearby (little town right outside hotel with more options maybe 20 minutes away). The staff couldn't have been nicer and were very helpful with anything we needed. One of the reasons I booked The Shore was because it's Adults only and small. But you could use all of the facilities of the sister Phuket Resort next door (we particularly liked the Fisherman's Wharf). They threw a cocktail party one night of our stay with free drinks, apps and live music to celebrate being at full capacity. The free breakfast was also a treat and we really enjoyed the options. We stayed in a seaview villa which was huge and enjoyed the view and our own private pool. The pool at the hotel was also beautiful and I don't think I've ever been to a better beach - no rocks, beautiful color, warm and you could walk pretty far out and still stand. We took advantage of the spa services and had a Thai couples' massage that was so relaxing. I used to think I was not a massage person (tend to be ticklish and tense up). But my husband convinced me to join him and I was proved wrong! We took advantage of the shuttle the hotel offered to Patong to enjoy some nightlife (300 Baht total for the two of us) which was definitely an experience/feast for the senses. The only, extremely small, complaint I'd make is about the bars and restaurants on site and at the sister hotel. All menus etc. request that you not pay cash. I don't know if that's a way for them to ensure non-guests don't crash or to minimize credit card charges. It's certainly easy to put everything on your room. But I think one should be able to choose his or her own method of payment. Otherwise those with mobility issues should know the resort is built on a steep hill and it's quite a walk up and down. They offered to drive you around in golf carts and I was flagged down and asked if I wanted a ride a few times when I decided to get some exercise and brave the steep climb. Another example of the level or service and kindness of the staff!
"Food poisoning from hotel restaurant"
We were in Phuket for 4 days for our honeymoon. On night 3 of 4 we decided to stay in and order room service from the hotel restaurant. At around 4:30a, we were both awakened by the violent symptoms of food poisoning. The symptoms continued for 2 days. The two most miserable days of our lives. Very disappointing to say the least, and truly ruined what was supposed to be the most romantic part of our honeymoon. This was a splurge for us, and we spent a lot of money to enjoy the facilities at the resort, but instead we were stuck inside our room for two miserable days. We asked the hotel to reimburse us for 1 nights stay, which we thought was more than reasonable since we lost 2 full days to food poisoning from food they prepared. They were not willing to reimburse us for anything besides a portion of the meal that gave us food poisoning. We were still suffering from symptoms as we were leaving the resort, and didn't have the strength to push for the reimbursement. We contacted them again once we got home and had a chance to truly grasp all that we had missed out on during those 2 days. We explained the situation again and they told us that they couldn't verify we had food poisoning since we didn't seek medical assistance from the hotel nurse. We weren't aware that their was an onsite nurse, but we certainly would have visited them, had we known. Not to "prove" we had food poisoning, but to actually receive medical assistance. We told the service staff we were sick, and they delivered extra towels and other bathroom essentials to help us through the symptoms, but no one ever mentioned that there was an onsite nurse. Due to this horrible experience, it's really difficult to look back on our honeymoon with fondness. We will never get that time back, and the management at The Shore at Katathani should be ashamed at how they handled the situation.
This place definitely has the wow factor! Gorgeous beyond words. The view from your private pool villa is just breathtaking! Service is top notch and the beach downstairs is definitely one of the top in the world.
