We found this hotel to be in an excellent location ,just off 5th Avenue, and close to Central Park. The room was spotlessly clean, the bed was enormous and very comfortable. It was a little strange not having an actual bathroom light as the bathroom was partitioned off by opaque glass and relied on the bedroom lamps. Stylish but not very practical for putting on makeup, doing hair etc, but this is a small quibble. The staff were friendly and helpful and there was very hot complimentary coffee served every morning. Thoroughly enjoyed staying here and would definitely consider this hotel again.
"A Last Resort Hotel "
My wife and I spent 5 nights here during our visit to NYC. Aside from the decent location the hotel offered little else positive during our trip. We arrived early on a Thursday morning and checked our bags to go explore. Totally normal. When we came back at 1pm, 4 hours later the rooms weren't ready. We had to wait until 3pm, the company policy's check in time. I'm not usually the one to complain about this side of the hotel routine. But I think this was a bit much. To get ice you have to call down to the front desk to get it delivered. There are no ice machines on any floors. Be prepared to wait a 1/2 hour before it arrives. We attempted to have a drink in the room several times before going out but didn't get the ice before it was time to leave. Overall I think they can do much better. Our few requests for simple things seemed like big hassles to the staff. Don't say I didn't warn you!
"Not a very goodexample of the accommodation in new York"
Went ask some advice on the technology of the telephone number of the accommodation to the UK was not very . Well explained to me found the girls on the reception not very helpful came away from. There none the wiser so disappointed.
"Don't do it!"
My first night in NYC was spent here at the Shoreham. I paid over 400 USD for the night and was very disappointed. The hotel foyer was barren, smelled of smoke and was not very appealing. No one offered to help me with my bags. I got to my room which was small and incredibly stuffy with a window looking out onto a brick wall. It was hot and I couldn't turn up the Aircon. The phone in my room didn't work. There was no kettle or anything to make tea - it was the most boring hotel room I've ever been in, I've stayed in much nicer hostels for much less money. So I guess I was just overall very underwhelmed, they obviously know they can charge exorbitant prices and not deliver as there's so many tourists streaming through. I wouldn't bother if you can avoid it!!
Having read several mixed reviews about the Shoreham I arrived last week slightly worried about the accommodation. But I was amazed, the check in was simple and straightforward no problems at all, the room was a good size and the bed was the most comfortable bed I've slept in for a while, the bathroom was a good size and the shower worked really well. Free tea and coffee in the morning, and the staff were so helpful and nothing was too much trouble for them. There is a printer and computer in the lobby which there is no charge to use so printing boarding passes etc is really handy. The hotel is really close to Time Square and everything was easy to get to. I would recommend this hotel to families and couples. Wi-fi only works in the lobby downstairs, you have to pay if you want wi-fi in your room.
