"Excellent all round"
We stayed for 5 nights. The hotel is a classical style, with marble etc. Good position: can walk to Orchard Road (10 min), botanical gardens (15 min) and the excellent white rabbit restaurant (20 min). For journeys further away, we used taxis which are numerous and cheap. The rooms are large: great bed and bathroom. The valet pressing service was handy. We ate in the Italian restaurant which was excellent, as is breakfast. The latter can get a bit crowded but we were always seated straight away. Nice bar near the entrance. Overall, a great hotel with good service.
"Individuals made it special!"
Loved the convenience of it's address and luxurious fittings within. Room was well-appointed and the shower was great again. Butler Danny rendered anticipatory service, was meticulous and efficient. My missing item was quickly located before dateline - that was impressive. Manger Kris's made me felt genuinely welcomed and he is a true service ambassador to the hotel.
"A Prefect Respite...Business or Leisure Travel"
My wife and I recently had the opportunity to stay at the St. Regis Hotel in Singapore. I was there for a business conference that would take place in the hotel and my wife joined mAe for the week so she could familiarize herself with Singapore and do some house shopping as we will be relocating here from Shanghai. It was a perfect place to stay, for both business and pleasure. As for business, the hotel is not too big and the conference center is quite accessible. The food and beverage is excellent...some of the best I have enjoyed at a conference...the coffee breaks and lunches were more unique than most and included some local flavor...the Gala Awards Dinner menu was unique, yet quite delicious. For my wife, the hotel was conveniently located at the end of Orchard Road, so convenient for shopping yet away from the hustle and bustle. We enjoyed the morning breakfast (which was more like brunch with so many choices). Our room was spacious with a high-quality mattress system and spa-like bathroom with separate shower and tub that "floats" in the room. I used the fitness room each day and took advantage of the men's wet lounge, complete with indoor/outdoor whirlpools, steam and sauna; a great way to unwind after the conference concluded each day and ready for the evening dinners and nightcaps in the lively Astor Bar. And, of course, there is the famous butler service: shirt pressings, coffee and tea whenever you would like, and someone to make sure my bow tie is properly arranged! The hotel features a wonderful collection of paintings and sculptures by world-famous artists. At the end of the week, we hated to leave.
"A mixed bag"
I left St Regis with mixed feelings. There are things that I really liked about it. For one the quality that St Regis exudes. Everything about it is top class. The room is beautiful, well built and things work as they should. The second you walk in, you get a sense that St Regis isn't a hotel that compromises. The staff is attentive, speaks immaculately and very competent. I also had the chance to dine at La Brezza which was a brilliant experience. Now to things that fell short for me. The butler service doesn't give you the feeling that you're attended to in a dedicated manner. We saw different butlers everyday which gave it a generic quality, and not a dedicated one. I once stayed at Ritz Carlton which also boasts of a butler service. At RC though, the butler and I could develop a relationship throughout my stay which was pretty special. I saw him daily and it seemed 'dedicated'. Breakfast was another thing I didn't like. I've had better, heartier breakfasts in other Singaporean hotels. What you need isn't something too posh, just the pampered feeling through the first meal of your day. Good, simple, hearty food, great coffee are all you need. Perhaps, St Regis went a little to classy. Just my two cents.
"Incredible service, but not without hiccups"
The St. Regis hotel is a well located, high end hotel in Singapore. We stayed on points so we could afford it, but ate out so we didn't go broke. The room was incredible, service was fantastic (ever had a butler on call'), but our first celebratory dinner was a disaster with terrible service and lukewarm food. When we complained about the food temp, the server took it away and MICROWAVED IT! As a result, everything was dried out and overdone. We refused to eat it and left. To the hotel's credit, when we talked with a mgr. He gave us a free dinner in a different restaurant in the hotel, which was wonderful, with terrific service. I tell this anecdote to point out that even in the best facilities you can be faced with awful service. I would stay in this hotel (if I could afford it) anytime in the future. We will probably never experience facilities and service like this again.
