I stayed in Sukhotai Hotel for a week and it was amazing. The bedroom is spacious and the bed so comfortable. The pool area is lovely even if surrounded by high buildings, they made a very nice environment you forget your are in the middle of the city. The Italian restaurant was delicious. I had dinner one night with my parents, my mother got sick (not because of the food! she was already sick before) and the whole staff of the restaurant was so comforting and making sure she was alright. I would for sure come back to stay at this hotel, very lovely and a thank you to the concierge team as well for assisting with the address in Bangkok and their advice on where to go for shopping. Thank you Sukhothai !
OK I just joined Tripadvisor to write this. And I declare an interest as it's my 6th stay. But the Sukhothai Bangkok is just amazing. If what you seek is bland faceless high rise concrete and glass modernity then stop reading now. Because you won't get it at the Sukhothai. If you want incredibly friendly service, amazing Thai food, a perfect blend of comfort, Thai hospitality and five star luxury, and peace and quiet in the heart of Bangkok then this is for you. I've travelled the world (including as a senior government official traveller) but the Sukhothai has my favourite breakfast anywhere in the world. Big and Bird will look after you at the tranquil pool. The redoubtable Khun Botan and her team will serve you the best Thai food in Celadon. And the spa will take you to new found pleasure and relaxation. We paid GBP650 per person for business class return flights from Hong Kong and three nights in a deluxe studio. Just the best, and best value for money, trip I've ever done. Oh and if you are here over a weekend the Sunday brunch is a total must.
"WOW - Even better than we remembered!"
Bangkok is one of our favorite places and we've stayed at several great properties over the years. My husband loves the Chocolate Buffet, so we decided to spend a night at Sukhothai and it turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip. Check in and check out were prompt and seamless: they are very polite, professional and efficient. The service was exemplary throughout the property. We booked an executive suite and they upgraded us to a deluxe suite. The room was quite large with a bathroom bigger than a studio apartment and a separate powder room! The property is lovely and well maintained with a staff of people continuously working on the gardens and building. The Chocolate Buffet should not be missed: the chef will custom make you a european hot chocolate (by melting your choice of chocolate) and his staff puts out a beautiful, bountiful and delicious assortment of savory and sweet treats. We stayed here about 4 years ago and I think the service and food have gotten even better! This isn't the cheapest option in Bangkok but it's an oasis in the chaotic city and one of the finest high end properties.
"It was great"
Sukhothai hotel was one of the chic and refined hotel in Bangkok but it's no longer the case now. The decor has remained the same as it was but it runs down obviously. The management seems doesn't care to maintain hotel in a sophisticated way. The carpet looks so old, and so as the furnitures. Service is ok, pool is nice. Its garden is breathtaking .
"disappointed, this is not thailand."
we ended a 3-week trip in thailand at the sukhothai and expected a superb experience. but the target customers seem to be japanese tourists : for breakfast, no thai dishes, but miso and sushi (and the international western food of course). the service was efficient but very distant not to say cold. the room was vast but impersonal and could have been anywhere but in thailand. the lobby and corridors are cold and severe. we arrived at 4pm and the room was not ready but when we came back from breakfast (at 11am, this is holiday ;-) ) our keys had been disactivated. the mini bar is not even free contrary to other lower class establishments. at the business center, you have to pay for prints. no, this is no thailand to us. the price is prohibitive for such a sad moment. the only positive thing was celadon restaurant, rich in thai flavours. we won't come back.
