"Unforgettable stay at Sukhothai"
Me and my wife had an unforgettable stay at Sukhothai Hotel Bangkok. This memorable stay has been made possible through our lovely concierge Kook. She was able to recognize all our needs and wishes. Her hospitable behavior and her friendliness made us feel really comfortable and enabled an awesome stay! When we will visit Bangkok again, we will definitely stay at Sukhothai Hotel again!
"Return after 22 years ....."
I stayed at this hotel when I used to work in the Far East and from all the places I stayed there was only 2 stand out ones .... and this was one. I promised myself I would one day return and have, and not disappointed. Although in need of modernisation after 25 years, it still has the WOW factor for me. The subtle service, the tranquility of the place even though it is in the heart of Bangkok and the style it has is like no where else. You really know you are in Thailand, the subtle use of wood, silk and stone is gorgeous. There are lotus flowers everywhere and a charm I love ...pool and gym area very good for a city centre hotel as well
"The Beverly Hills Hotel of Bangkok"
The Beverly Hills Hotel of Bangkok is how I describe the Sukhothai to friends. In a city of 8,000,000 people The Sukhothai is the only hotel I know of there that sits on about 10 acres in the middle of the city. From the minute you pull up the driveway you get a sense of the park like grounds. Whenever I am there I feel like I could be in a monastery it so peaceful. The tallest building on the grounds is only five stories. This is not a fifty story hotel with a pool on the 30th floor. The pool here is I think 25 meters and about 5 lanes wide perfect for swimming laps. There are not a lot of children at the pool and if they are the parents usually have them stay out of the way. I cannot believe this beautiful pool actually sits in the middle of the city. I look up and expect to see the beach. If you enjoy tennis, bring your racquet's. I have stayed at the hotel 4 times and all the rooms I have had were beautiful with huge bathrooms. I prefer the executive suites. Occasionally something has not worked and it is usually fixed unless they have had trouble understanding English in which case I show them and they understand. The hotel is located in a great area where we can walk or take the metro to all our favorite restaurants which include some of the best in Asia. There are also two excellent restaurants in the hotel one Thai and the other Italian. A few things at the hotel have begun to show a little age but this does not bother me at all. Everything else makes up for it. I know Bangkok has much to offer but actually I prefer hanging at the pool, swimming, working out getting complementary stretches and using the spa. The staff for the most part is wonderful. Special kudos go out to Big at the pool. Boton the Food and Beverage manager and Toom the Concierge. This trip we looked at some of the other great hotels here the Mandarin, The Shangra la and The Peninsula, they were all about 25% more and as far as I am concerned not nearly as nice and all to large to get the personal service we always get at the Sukhothai.
"Classic luxury "
It's a well known 5-Star hotel in Bangkok for decades. The room was spacious facing the lotus pond. Unfriendly feeling from the Front Office / Concierge staff. Unpleasant experience to raise the issue of bad Wi-Fi signal. The wi-fi reception was not good inside the room. Repeater was requested and set for better signal. Honeymoon cake was a surprise. Breakfast items were good. Swimming pool was quiet and comfortable. Gym was comparatively small and not well equipped.
"Always worth it"
A few years ago, I wrote a review describing the Sukhothai hotel as one of my favorite hotel in the world. I was there last week and this is still the case. The Sukhothai is a real Palace, in a french way, which means that the service is exceptional. The Sukhothai experience is worth it, and is only possible thanks to the amazing staff. And this is the point : the staff is very professional, dedicated and above all super kind. We thank them all, especially Botan, who has been working there for many years and looks after every guest to make them feel at home. But… The 25 years old hotel needs some improvements now there is a strong competition in Bangkok. No major renovations have been made in the past few years, and the new HK based owners need to take that into account. Managing an hotel is not only a question of investment.
