"Sublime service, decor, and comfort"
The rooms and bedding were sublime. Your Duxiana bed and French bed linens were the best in any hotel ever... and we travel frequently. The room was delightfully quiet and the hotel staff placed us directly across from our family staying in another room. This was so thoughtful. The doorman ALWAYS opened the doors and quickly secured taxis for us. The concierge obtained Circle line tickets for us. Registration greeted us each time we entered the lobby. The hotel décor is sophisticated and calming. The shower was amazingly strong. The twice daily housekeeping service kept our room impeccably clean and well stocked with fresh towels. The location is so much better than midtown Manhattan, where we've stayed before- quiet and yet close to boutique shopping on Madison Avenue. We'll recommend the Surrey to all our friends and we'll come back. We're so glad that friends and Travel and Leisure magazine recommended the Surrey Hotel.
"Refreshing Hospitality in a Pretentious Neighborhood"
After a botched experience with a neighboring hotel, we found the Surrey and were welcomed graciously. While a lot of hotels focus on hype and trend (not to say that The Surrey doesn't have any of these positive elements) but miss the mark on the hospitality experience, this place manages to maintain a high level of luxury in executing genuine service that makes you more and more comfortable at every turn. Room service by Daniel Boulud is delicious, Bellmen are friendly, Desk staff is accommodating, housekeeping is prompt and swift, and Miles from the sales office has a great understating of how to ensure guest's needs are met. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking to stay on the UES.
This hotel was recommended to me by a friend who use to stay there and I can tell you what a great choice. Friendly and fast check-in, great amenities, fantastic location. I had a business dinner and the place was great for it as the great restaurant there is just convenient. Will be back.
We were in the Surrey for two nights and had dinner in the Café Bouloud. The Staff is very friendly and helpfull. The rooms are well equipped with space to relax. The food at the Bouloud is outstanding. One of the best we ever had in NYC! Comparable to Nomad and others in this league.
"Upper East Side Style"
The Surrey is a wonderful boutique hotel located on the chic Upper East Side of Manhattan, an upscale neighborhood of townhouses and exclusive shopping on Madison, walking distance to the Met. First stay was in 2011, this was my second visit to The Surrey. Likes: Spacious rooms, especially by New York City standards, fashionably decorated, luxury linens, top shelf Diptyque bath products, comfortable bed, great service, great neighborhood. Dislikes: Morning coffee lovers beware: NO in room coffee maker, and room service coffee for two will cost you $26 for a pot with barely enough coffee for two cups. Starbucks is 5 blocks away. The upscale neighborhood has more limited dining options than other neighborhoods in NYC. If Times Square and being in the middle of NYC is your thing, this is not the hotel for you. If you like easy access to Central Park, museums, and designer boutiques in a lovely neighborhood then The Surrey is a wonderful choice. Coffee lovers, you've been warned!
