"Its a nice hotel, you won't be disappointed, but it has some flaws"
I've been to this hotel many times, and each time I find this or that that I was meh about. But I am going to write a positive review as I think that overall it deserves it and a few people deserve to be called out. Bottomline, it is a great hotel. Like I said you will not be disappointed. The rooms are a tad small and the bathrooms even smaller, but I have some of my better nights sleep there, I love their beds, pillows, and the sheets.. I WILL recommend that you do not accept a lower level room overlooking 76th. I was there recently and it was very noisy. But even so, I could not stop enjoying the bed.I think they use Frette. If I didn't have to iron those sheets (or that they cost 1000 a pop) I would get them in every color. So my shout out is to Barbra and Esslia (SP') in the dinning room. In fact all the guys at Cafe Boulude are terrific. Also, I have to do a shout out to the hard working people in housekeeping. They are the friendliest and nicest people I have met.
"the best hotel in nyc"
this hotel is perfect. from the moment you arrive until you leave. elegant yet not pretentious. small and accommodating. quiet. luxuriously comfortable. clean. for me there is no other place to stay in nyc! central park is just steps away...
"Lovely, fresh and peaceful!"
Ideally located one block from Central Park and a quick beautiful jaunt straight across to Central Park West, the perfect locale to visit. Adjacent to museums, galleries and shopping. Only disappointment was restaurant.
"Luxury with a personal touch"
Located on E 76th Street at 76th & Madison, ond could easily expect The Surrey to be a bit stiff and snobbish. Not at all, this is Luxury delivered with a genuine and personal touch, and it is all in the details. From the minibar, where the standard assortment is complemented by half-bottles of upmarket liquor to the attention to detail in both service and interior design, this really feels like home away from home. Even our two-year old daughter loved it and called the place home after a few days. The room was also rather quiet, with opening windows and good blinds which provided complete darkness. Another plus is the Bar and Restuarant, both were amazing. The restaurant is rather good value, with excellent service and good food. And of course a wine list which can make sizeable dents in any checking account. The bar is a very cool place, especially if you sit by the bar itself. Good service and great drinks. Special Thanks to Michael at the concierge desk who turned the situation around quickly and without hassle when our transfer from EWR missed the baby-seat we ordered and also helped us find a great florist in the neighbourhood for our wedding bouquet. We will most definitely be back!
"Comfortable and relaxing."
Our two-night stay was very comfortable and relaxing. The rooms are a generous size and nice and quiet. The bed was extremely comfortable and the pillows were great (one of our biggest complaints at virtually every hotel we stay at). Most of the staff were exceptional!
