"Nights Booked: 3; Nights Stayed: 0"
My fiancée and I had booked 3 nights here at the ubud village resort and spa through Expedia. From the photos and looks of it we were extremely excited and looking forward to our stay here. However once we arrived we were very disappointed. I wish we paid the extra for refundable rooms, as we didn't even stay 1 night. Let me start by saying that the property , and the villas themselves are gorgeous. Stunning, I was so excited and in aw upon arrival. Also, the staff , everyone we encountered were very welcoming and kind. However, we traveled to Bali during their winter or wet season. Lots of on and off heavy tropical rain, also hot and humid. Our villa had stagnant ponds of water surrounding us on all sides. I wish I had taken a photo of that, with that white filmy look on top. We were too afraid to use the outside bath due to it, let alone go outside. And mind you we had repellent with 35% deet on. Upon arrival we killed 3 mosquitos inside our villa, so we switched to our more intense repellent with 98% Deet. We had just come from a resort where all the ponds had running water and filled with fish to eat any bugs in or on the water. Here we had a total of 4 / 5 ponds and I only saw 2 fish in one pond. Leaving the remaining mosquito breeding grounds. Also , there were dead bugs in a few places off the lights inside, we weren't really bothered by that. But there were cracks in the doors and big biting ants found their way through. Another deal breaker was the AC. For such a big villa, and for it being so hot and humid the ac was very weak, out dated maybe. We thought we would give it a few hours, see if it cooled down. But it had not. We were uncomfortably hot, sweating, and paranoid about bugs or getting bit by virus carrying mosquitos , and being far from home ( The US) we thought best not to take that chance. The property, the people and the vibe was beautiful. I just think they need to be kept up to date with the air conditioning units and have more efficient ways to deal with stagnant ponds of water. I was very sad and disappointed.
"Resort showing its age, but service cannot be faulted"
My partner and I have stayed at this resort on three previous occasions over the years and were surprised to learn that they had a significant price increase this time around. We booked four nights, and we're excited to see what improvements the place has made to justify the price hike; unfortunately upon our arrival we learnt that there were none and the resort was as it was previously (if not, slightly more dated and worn down). We had a couple of teething problems early with their paperwork saying that we were expected two days later than we had arrived. This was resolved once we showed them our booking itinerary. Still frustrating since we were made to wait an additional 30 mins whilst they prepared the room. Our first night was horrible. Our dated air conditioning unit barely cooled the room and honestly was not suitable for such a large villa in the Balinese humidity; we barely slept a wink. Additionally, the tv was very dated and had poor reception. It was also frustrating that if my partner and I wanted to watch a film we were unable to do so comfortably as the screen is positioned in the corner of the room meaning that one person can watch, but the other has view obstructed by a large bed post. I know it's minor thing but still it should be common sense, and is the sort of inconvenience you shouldn't have to worry about when you are paying a premium price. We wrote an email to the manager that night letting them know our dissatisfaction, and that this was the first time we hadn't been satisfied in all the times we have stayed here. To their credit they moved heaven and earth to make sure the rest of the stay was faultless. We were moved to a larger villa (with newer, more powerful air conditioning!), were given spa vouchers and even had a manager speak to us directly one morning at breakfast. He explained that the resort are aware that the accommodation is becoming dated and they are slowly working to improve the facilities. My question remains though, why would they increase their rates before the work had been completed on the property; particularly when their are so many other luxurious and newer options in and around Ubud that they now must compete with' Overall, after our initial complaints were handled we were very satisfied with the remainder of our stay. Our advice to other guests however is to check the age of the air conditioning units that in your villa; particularly during the warmer months.
"Very nice villa "
You can see in photo the amazing arrangement in the bath top, the villa is big and also the pool, very good price for the villa, the room service for 24 hours, tasty food, the resort it self is very big.
Fantastic place to visit, top quality rooms, restaurant and service all set in a wonderful location! recommend as a place to stay when visiting the Ubud Area. Very helpful staff and great shuttle service to nearest attractions.
This hotel exceeded our expectations as the staff went out of their way to attend to our every need. The property was great and so was the villa. Great breakfast and free shuttle every hour to and from town! I will definitely be back here!
