We stayed here back in December 2012 - four years ago. It was wonderful then and wonderful now. The setting amongst the terraced rice paddies and swaying palm trees is very special indeed. We had a large villa with it's own pool... indoor and outdoor shower, outdoor double sunken bath, a pair of fish ponds, a great 4 poster bed.... what more could you ask. The people were all most charming and helpful. Even the gardeners greeted you with a "Good Morning". Breakfast overlooking the rice paddies offered good variety of both western and Balinese fare. There is also an excellent spa and 50m infinity pool.
"Best resort ever!!!!"
Came here for 3 nights as part of our honeymoon and it was magical!!!!! Staff are amazing, the villa with pool is what dreams are made of! The breakfast was fantastic and the swimming pool is wow!!!! Would recommend to everyone!
"Personal service from the first instant and a villa we want to design our house around!"
OK, so we are both really picky. He is the hotel business and I am in the events business and we look at hotels and resorts with a very critical eye. Here literally every moment of our stay was not only perfection, but the staff went above and beyond perfection to nirvana! I wrote to Piki, at the front desk, before our stay to say that it would be our honeymoon, and she arranged a lovely welcome with a honeymoon cake (brought with our room service dinner as dessert), a birdcage with chocolates and local fruits in it, and an upgrade to a villa with our own rice terrace view. Also, the villa...I mean, we were speechless. the bed had fresh flowers arranged in the shape of a heart, and the outside bathtub was filled with water and a solid carpet of red and white rose petals floating on top, spelling out I (heart) you! all of the staff from Piki and Aga who welcomed us at the front desk. to Juri who gave us our extensive tour of our villa and our best waitress friend Ayu who taught us Bahasa Bali as well as Bahasa Indonesia, and even took the time at home to type out a vocabulary list for us and bring it to us at breakfast the next day! breakfast was amazing, BTW--very artful, delicious and sophisticated with a delicious spread of Asian and Western specialties, and not buffet...The front desk was terrific with ideas for shopping and activities, and even reimbursed me for a taxi i had to take when stuck in a downpour (the hotel shuttle was too, so I missed it--totally my fault though!) . But back to the villa--there are no words to describe the villas. we are literally going to design our master bedroom around ours! The first day we saw no other guests out and about at the resort--no one wants to leave their villas! There are a beautiful pool with loungers, game areas, daily tea, restaurant, and a bar with creative delicious drinks onsite, but no one ever went there because they were all enjoying the villas. The spa looked nice, but we didn't have a treatment. 30 villas and 100 staff-- a terrific staff to guest ratio! we could have easily lived in that villa permanently! A terrific value too, esp as compared to hotels in the US. We had an outdoor living space with sofas, coffee table and kitchen, our own pool, an outside bed/pavilion, a welcome sign in the villa with my name on it, a courtyard, an outside shower, garden and bath area, an inside shower (we had to really make an effort to lounge and bathe in all the available spaces!), inside daybed lounging area, the bed with mosquito netting, large closet with batik robes and matching slippers, two sinks, heavenly products, mini fridge and tea/coffee making facilities plus complimentary water daily. Everything was flawless. Please message me if I can help you in any way decide to go to this hotel!
"A Tropical paradise."
We spent the first number of days of our Honeymoon in this wonderful venue. The peaceful, easy going and friendly staff were the ideal solution to a hectic few weeks of wedding and party days. I cannot say enough good things about Ubud Village Resort it ticked every box. Also it is ideally located to Ubud and the hourly shuttles are a great facility. It is the type of place you return to again and again.
Our stay was not what we anticipated and nowhere near what we know about Balinese hospitality in our over 10 years of visiting the island. Probably, the hotel staff was busy attending those guests who left the previous awesome reviews based upon which we also chose these villas. This is the first place we experienced that you actually have to pay almost 50.000 Rupiah if you want to serve any type of coffee at breakfast (you only get reg coffee and tea at no cost). Also, if you wanna serve your breakfast in the villa you have to pay another $10. This was quite bad because we traveled with a small child who was whining and crying on and off, so I'm sure the other guests were not too happy about during breakfast. Another major con is the super slow wifi. We've heard other guests complaining too, and we were told the IT guy was working on it, but nothing changed. Reviewers were talking about small lovely details that made the place special. For us, they forgot to clean our room although we called them and asked them to do it in the morning, they kept leaving 2 towels instead of 3 although we were 3 persons, they left us without soap one day, and the evening before departure they didn't even bother to fill up the oil-burning candle. Unfortunately, the staff lacks the professionalism required for a 4 1/2 * accommodation, although Mrs Juri is trying hard to compensate for it. There are so many villas in Bali that you can't afford being so careless with your guests. On the pro side, the pastry was delicious, so kudos to the chef/baker. Also, thanks to Mrs Juri for trying to make conversation at breakfast and make sure everything was ok with the room. In conclusion: we will not return to this place. There are so many nice places in Bali where the caffe latte is free all day long, the wifi is decent, you can serve breakfast in your villa for free, and the staff greets with you a smile everywhere you go...and where they don't forget to clean up your room, and where they change your towels 2 times per day. That's where we will be next year, so travelers out there choose wisely!
