"A Touch of Class.....yet....."
The front of the build is imposing - the welcome warm and friendly. Our room on the 5th floor (527) was very clean yet somewhat small with a view of walls, roofs etc. We only have two minors these being there is no free wi-fi, which was surprising. And the room doors shut on their own with such force that they wake you up ! This happened on several occasions during the afternoon and night disturbing our sleep....surely simple adjustments to the closers could resolve this. Breakfast was exceptional a great choice on offer all fresh warm and well laid out in magnificent surroundings. Can't fault the staff and their attentiveness or the style of the build. Final point it's the Waldorf....don't expect Holiday Inn prices at the bar 😀
"Afternoon tea "
Well over the top. Certainly nothing special unless you love different types of tea. Sandwiches and cakes ok. Wouldn't go back, you can get a lot better and cheaper elsewhere. Pretty much any food outlet locally would be as good.
What a disappointment!! Went here today for a friend's birthday as a lady's afternoon get together. We got tempted by the great £26 pp for a champagne afternoon tea offer. Unfortunately, I would have to echo the poor reviews here. The staff pretended to be busy ( doing nothing), they took a long time to even serve us water, let alone sandwiches and when they did arrive, were disappointing, salty and dry. We were not asked for anything extra and struggled to get the staff's attention every time we wanted water let alone tea. Even the bill took forever to arrive and so did the waitress with the card machine ( after the bill was given) Since it was a special occasion we didn't want to argue about the service charge. Any other time I wouldn't have paid any tips for such non existent service. The tea room was also extremely hot and I felt as if I was going to pass out!! All in all, a huge disappointment and not the standard we expected. Won't be recommending it to anyone or returning here!
A great suite, spacious bedroom, pleasant lounge, good dressing area and lovely large bathroom. The executive lounge serves and tasty breakfast, good morning coffee, an inspired cream tea and lovely canapés and wine. This is a great place to stay whilst in London, close theatre land, west end and convent garden.
