"Great hotel in a convenient location for business"
Ideal for my business trip - conveniently located. Very good service - friendly and professional but not obtrusive. For me the location was good as most of my meetings were in the financial district, but also seems to be convenient for other areas. I was upgraded to a suite, which was very nice even if some of the furnishings were a bit worn.
"Best hotel in Beijing"
Although in business district, its abt 5 to 10mins drive to shopping district and a mall with supermarket digonal to hotel. Very comfortable stay, staff are cheerful and polite, very good buffet spread. We went during end December, their rooms are not too cold and very comfortable, beds are firm for good night sleep. Concierage are very helpful. Will definitely stay there again.
"Top rate service "
The hotel staff is attentive all round. Love the heated swimming pool and well equipped gym is also available. Xidan shopping belt is only about 10mins taxi away for great shopping ranging from luxury to mid range.
"Great hotel with friendly and helpfull staff"
I was here for business. It was strategically located near a mall if you need some daily basic needs. The staffs that I encountered at the front door, receptionist, concierge, restaurant and meeting room are very friendly and helpful. The hotel is clean with fast free Wi-Fi :) I only give suggestion for the hotel to equip each room with air purifier and face mask in case the guest need it. Best regards,
"Modern comfortable hotel with excellent service and facilities"
I travel to Beijing regularly for business and have stayed at The Westin Beijing Financial Street hotel over the past 4 years. I previously wrote a review a few years ago and felt it appropriate to provide an updated review after staying here many more times. The hotel is situated near the second ring road west of Beijing (for reference, the airport is located in the north east past the sixth ring road). Depending on the traffic, it can take between 30 to 60 minutes by car to get to the hotel from the airport. Located on Financial Street, The Westin Beijing Financial Street is situated in the heart of one of the central business districts of Beijing. This makes it a very modern and safe area of Beijing to stay in - it is quite busy during weekdays and quiet at night and on the weekends. It is not exactly close to any of the famous sightseeing areas though shopping district Xidan is reachable by foot in 20 minutes and Tiananmen square by foot in 45 minutes. However it is fair to say that from a sightseeing perspective, from any hotel in Beijing, you will need to be prepared to travel through a combination of public transport, car and walking since they really are spread across the city. So location shouldn't be the most important factor. In terms of public transport, the hotel is approximately 10 minutes walk from 2 different subway stations from which you can access popular tourist areas such as Xidan, the Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square and Wangfujing. Slightly further trips can take you to places such as the World Trade Centre and Bird's Nest Stadium. This walk is quite a straightforward one to the subway station. For those preferring more direct and comfortable travel, the hotel can easily arrange taxis or private cars. The hotel is located on Financial Street which provides two advantages for taxis - there are a large number of taxis that will pass through this area so usually you don't need to wait too long, and on the return trip most taxi drivers will know the location of the hotel. Private cars are a great option to get more personalised service, where you can hire them from a few hours to the whole day. I've used this service for both airport transfers and doing sightseeing for the day. Unlike many taxis, these private cars use a very modern fleet (Audi, BMW, Buick etc), provide bottled water, are very clean inside and you can be assured the driver won't smoke inside (this has happened on a few past occasions in taxis). For sightseeing, the driver will wait on hand until you are finished and will readily adjust to meet your changing schedule to take you to a number of locations throughout the day. This is quite an easy option that can be arranged with the lobby concierge. In terms of breakfast options, it is probably easiest to get breakfast included as part of your hotel package. The breakfast is very a comprehensive buffet-style provided on the ground floor restaurant Senses (and spillover to the Prego restaurant opposite if there is overflow of tables). This buffet provides a large variety of fruit, cereals, pastries, hot and cold food options, as well as eggs and noodles made on the spot to your liking. Starting early in the morning and finishing at 10:30am this provides a great option whether you need to wake up early or prefer to sleep in. For those who have access to the Executive Lounge on level 26, this provides another option for breakfast. Arguably the breakfast menu is more limited than the one on ground floor but you get a quieter, more intimate experience where the professional staff provide a more personal proactive experience. It's also a more appropriate location if you want to do some work while eating. For other breakfast options, most restaurants nearby won't be open. However there is a Lawsons convenience store nearby and an upmarket supermarket in the basement of the shopping centre if you are looking for alternatives. There are 3 main restaurants in the hotel: 1. Jewel, which provides yum cha and chinese cuisine 2. Prego, which provides Italian food, including free freshly baked bread 3. Senses, which provides a variety of Western and Asian dishes, alongside an all-you-can-eat buffet lunch and dinner There are nice dishes available from each restaurant so it's certainly worth considering if you don't want to leave the hotel. Most dishes are also available on the room service menu. In terms of nearby eating options, there is a large shopping centre just opposite the hotel comprising mostly of expensive brands. However there are quite a few nice restaurants located in the basement and upstairs. These are mostly regional Chinese and Asian food, in addition to one Spanish restaurant which provides some nice variety. There is also a street of restaurants near the shopping centre and hotel, including a number of western options and Starbucks. The shopping centre is also convenient if you need to buy toiletries (Watson), basic goods (the shopping centre) as well as a cinema. Upon each visit I have found the staff across the entire hotel to provide excellent service at the Westin Beijing Financial Street Hotel from start to end. Upon arriving at the hotel, staff will help open the vehicle door and carry your luggage inside the hotel, where they will be waiting near the check in reception to take it up for you to your room after you have checked in. The staff at reception (in both the hotel side and serviced apartment side) are very friendly, helpful and quite efficient in helping with the check in check out process. A useful tip for those who have access to the Executive Lounge on level 26 - you can also check in and check out here which can often speed up the process, especially during peak periods where queues in the lobby can get long. Staff in the lobby area are very friendly in greeting guests as the come and go about the hotel so there is always help on hand if you need it. They are also proactive and offer to help you with your luggage if you need any assistance. Concierge are very efficient in helping you with you luggage - I've also found it a convenient option to keep my luggage stored in the hotel for a few days if I need to go on a business trip away from Beijing for a few days before returning to the hotel. The staff at the Executive Lounge on level 26 are also very professional and proactive in their customer service. On many occasions they have been able to help me with a number of ad-hoc requests to make the overall stay and experience better not only for myself but also for my colleagues travelling with me. Being now a repeat guest at the hotel, it is fair to say that a lot of staff recognise me and call me by my name which makes staying at the hotel a much more personalised experience. Travelling on the road for much of the year, this level of effort and professionalism shown by the staff really makes The Westin Beijing Financial Street feel like a home away from home for me and a catch up with my 'overseas' family. I would certainly view many of them as friends. The hotel has almost been in existence for 10 years I think. Recognising the need for continual renewal, I have noticed over the past year that they have been in the process of renovating the hotel, whether it be the floor carpet, to the furniture and facilities in each room and the furniture in the lobby bar. Overall I have found the hotel rooms to be very clean and modern. Only on the rare occasion have I had something wrong with my room (e.g. a slow hairdryer, an old iron etc) but usually housekeeping and room service can be quick to fix this. The housekeeping service in general I find to be very professional in what they do and are flexible during the day to help tidy up your room. Two key features that are the pride of The Westin include the rainforest showerhead and the heavenly bed. Certainly these are a great feature of each room. The showerhead provides enough pressure so that a shower is a very relaxing experience. The heavenly bed is extremely comfortable and has certainly helped me have great sleeps each time at the hotel. The hotel staff will adjust the number of sheets and thickness to match the season and temperature inside the room. In addition, you can find an iron (with steam feature) and ironing board which is very useful, especially if you are travelling for business. One thing that some colleagues have previously found challenging is controlling the temperature in the room through the air conditioner - whilst it can reach temperatures as low as 19 degrees, some would prefer it to be even colder. One tip for winter - Beijing winters can be extremely dry on the skin, so you can ask housekeeping for a humidifier which can be a great help. You may also want to ask for a few more bottles of water to stay hydrated. Over the past year I've also become a frequent user of the fitness centre/gym on level 5. In terms of overall size, I would put this on the small to medium end. There is a good variety of gym equipment (treadmill, cross trainers, weights, exercise balls, yoga mats etc.) The fitness centre staff are kind and helpful and will regularly come to wipe down gym equipment and restock the supply of towels. If you don't bring your own entertainment, then make sure to get a set of earphones at the fitness centre reception since you can watch TV on the treadmills and cross trainers. There is also a 25m length indoor pool for those who are interested. One tip would be to avoid the fitness centre between 7am and 8:30am if possible since it becomes very full of people who are exercising before going to work. During this time, it can become very crowded with some people waiting to use a treadmill or finding space to set up a yoga mat. One thing I've noticed over the past few years is also the attention to detail that hotel staff put into decor. With the change of season, staff will change the type of flowers that appear in vases across the hotel in the lobby, in the lift areas and at each table in restaurants and the executive lounge area. There is certainly a sense of artistry and professionalism put into this which adds a touch of elegance to the hotel. Near the lobby bar you can also find a variety of paintings and artwork placed along the walls - which acts as gallery that changes on a regular basis. Overall I really enjoy staying at the Westin Beijing Financial Street hotel for the reasons listed above. What I also find valuable is that the hotel staff treat feedback very seriously in order to continually improve the experience for hotel guests. If you are seeking a great hotel experience, then it is definitely worth a stay at The Westin Beijing Financial Street Hotel for those who are visiting Beijing.
