"Beautiful hotel and in a good location for exploring the city"
The Westin is a huge and sprawling hotel located in a perfect spot for exploring the city of Dresden. The interior is very attractive and modern with open spaces and a bar for meeting with friends and having some drinks before heading out. If using the public transportation, there is a tram stop, just outside the hotel. The room was spacious - extra kudos for having a built-in shelf for placing luggage. The bedding was soft and luxurious, although the pillows very a little to soft for me - I heard someone else also comment that the pillows squished flat when you laid on them. The toiletries were high-end, and the bathroom appeared to have been recently remodeled with beautiful marble counters. Plenty of hot water and great water pressure! My room had a view of the river - it was extremely quiet, no ambient noises, with just a hint of the church bells ringing in the morning. Breakfast was amazing! An overwhelming number of choices from cereals, breads, hot items, and fresh fruits and cheeses. Even the most picky of persons will walk away with an overloaded plate. I just wish I had more time to linger over breakfast. While I was there, the hotel was at full capacity and every table was full, but the service staff were diligent in providing coffee service, cleaning/turning over clean tables, etc.
"Good but not up to Starwood Standard"
I stayed in the Westin Bellevue for 4 days. The positive: - Very centrally located - close to the tourist area (Frauenkirche) and the 'young area' of Dresden (Neustadt). - Very friendly and helpful staff. The negative: - Rooms are in desperate need of refurbishment. The Classic Room I stayed in seemed like it had the same furnitures and bathroom for at least 40 years. - Internet is extremely slow. 0,5Mb download for free which is good for nothing really or 5Mb for 10€ a day which still is painfully slow and not really up to nowadays standards. All in all it was an OK stay but on the other hand it seemed to me that this hotel stopped working on their rooms (at least the one I stayed in) and thus does not live up to the Starwood Standard.
"Great conference facility and hotel"
Located in the Dresden section Neustadt (new city), the hotel is on the Elbe River directly opposite the old city and only a five minute walk over a bridge to the historical city. Tourist attractions abound, in particular the rebuilt Frauenkirche. When we last visited Dresden in 1990, the church, destroyed in WWII was still a pile of rubble with some of the larger pieces numbered for identification. I has now been rebuilt and restored to its pre-war beauty, using in the process salvageable pieces of the original. Riverboat cruises on the Elbe depart regularly from the old city side. The hotel is a renovated villa-type structure with modern wings added. Facilities are excellent and a well trained and friendly staff, from reception to housekeeping speak well of the attention to detail by the management. Our room faced the riverfront and old city (recommended if available). Conference facilities and food service both for coffee breaks and for banquet were excellent for our group of over 200 attendees. Westin Bellevue is an excellent choice for business events or visiting Dresden. Arriving by train, the Dresden Neustadt station is a bit closer to the hotel than is the Dresden main station.
"It's certainly not part of the chain "
Me and few of my friends have stayed here for a few nights. We all kind of participated in a big conference held in the Westin Bellevue Hotel. Well it wasn't quite what we expected from a Westin hotel. First the beds - no king size all though we asked for and the mattress we're old and you could fee the springs trying to push through. Second , the rooms , at list thous in the first floor have no day light at all. Third, the bathroom is very basic nothing special and the towels they provide are from bad quality. Fourth, the fitness room is a joke - one treadmill and one bike. And the sauna wasn't working through our stay. Other than that the breakfast is nice and the location is good , but It's certainly not Westin we all expected.
"Amazingly helpful staff"
. A beautifully situated hotel. Trams No. 4 and 9 stop outside the hotel and take you straight into the Old Town. Beautifully clean room, with only criticism that there are no coffee/tea making facilities. Huge dining/breakfast room where ultra efficient staff constantly replenish the huge assortment of dishes. Staff in hotel shop were most helpful in booking opera/ballet and sightseeing bus tickets which were delivered back to the room the same day. Bar good place to have light meals - again the staff couldn't be more accommodating. Facility for eating al fresco and lovely gardens.
