The hotel is great. It is not brand new, but it is in fantastic shape and not at all dated. It is luxurious and the decor is worthy of 5-star status. The service was good all over with no exceptions, the food was good, the lounge offering is superb and lounge is spacious. The gym is well-equipped and also quite large. The room was comfortable. The Internet was fast. The lobby smelled great. The hotel was very clean. The elevators are extremely fast. I have no complaints about the hotel except prices are too high for food and laundry and one small issue. All of the images you see of the hotel on the website and other materials are NOT the hotel. The images you see of the tall, crowned/flower-top building are an office building. I am sure it is the same owner and was built at the same time as the hotel towers because they are all the same materials and clearly were constructed together. But for years everyone I know, including the Chinese colleagues who stayed with me in the hotel this trip, thought that tall building is where the guest rooms are. I assumed that is where I would be and would be overlooking Shanghai, and possibly the Bund were I to be upgraded to a Bund view room. While the hotel does have Bund view rooms, no hotel rooms are in the tall building featured in all the materials. It feels a bit misleading and is why I gave the hotel 4 stars instead of 5.
"Great hotel, superb concierge service "
During my stay in this wonderful iconic hotel I left one of my bags behind on the day of departure. I was at the airport when I noticed. The superb concierge team of Max, Kane and Royce were wonderful. They found the bag and then to make sure I got it Royce got in the taxi himself and took the 45 min taxi ride with the bag to hand deliver it to me. I made my flight and am deeply grateful. For me this level of service is the mark of a top class hotel. Many thanks guys, I will be back again. The Westin is my hotel of choice for Shanghai !
Went back to Westin Shanghai after many years. Hotel is looking old, rooms need major renovation, but still a good property near to many shopping as well as restaurants. Walking distance from the old bund.
RMB1333 a night included breakfast. Modern lobby and room. Lot of marble and granite. Squeaky clean. Location within easy walking distance of Metro stations Nanjing Rd East and YuYuan Gardens. Three blocks from the Bund. Staff was bilingual and extremely pleasant and cordial. Good selection of breakfast items. No issues at all
"Grand hotel but start to feel the time passing"
I won't say that this hotel is old, but certainly start to feel the need of a renovation, especially for the rooms, no more up-to-date and with some needs of maintenance in bathroom, sofa and even bed. A part from this, here you can still find the feeling of being in a Grand Hotel, but I think the Westin Bund Shanghai would deserve more. Club lounge (I've tried just this and not other F&B locations) was very nice and accurate and the food during happy hour and breakfast was more than Ok. Last mention to the personnel, always very professional, at the level of such grand hotel.
