"Good place to celebrate birthday"
I visited here for my birthday with my husband. And it was good choice to be comfortable place in Seoul! All staffs are in this hotel, they are so nice enough. ;) I recommend you to be here for your special day!
"Great location too"
This is a fantastic modern hotel in the heart of downtown Seoul. The service is very good and the rooms are large and clean. The breakfast buffet is almost too large with full western and Asian fares. There is direct access to the subway system and a block walk to Myung-dong shopping area which is full of retail and restaurants. A great hotel.
"The best for your buck!"
This is seriously the best place to put your money, Lotte, Plaza and other hotels in this area will offer similar pricing, but will not mount up to the quality you will receive at Chosun. Their in house restaurants are considered much higher than its competitors in the area and the hotel is not built to only maximize their room numbers, instead focused heavily on the satisfaction of customers. It you don't need to be in a hotel with a duty free and tons of group tourists, this is the perfect place to be.
"Nice room, good food, centrally located"
Stayed for 2 nights as part of a business trip. Room is spacious and well maintained. Very good room service dining. Attentive staff. Good location. Access to Starbucks cafe. Lotte mall is around the corner.
"Repeat Visit. Standard Service. Room Refurbishment Needed."
I travel extremely frequently, annually doing about 80 nights with SPG alone. So naturally, when I visit Seoul, I choose The Westin. ----- 1. Location in downtown is very close to the Myeongdong shopping district as well as the Lotte Department Store / Duty Free next door. However, the central location does have a downfall because I could not reach the hotel because of the protests going on in downtown. I had to get off the bus and walk 30 minutes because all road to the hotel was closed off. 2. I booked the Business Deluxe. Again, did not get an upgrade for being SPG Platinum. I did get a room on the Executive Floor though but there is no difference in the room itself. The room has not really changed since few years ago when I started visiting with my parents. The room is cosy and comfortable enough but does not feel very luxurious. Bathroom is not too spacious but does has marble surfaces and feels upscale. However, pink plasticky hairdryer feels very cheap and out of place for a high end five star property. As a practical matter, I wish there are power outlets on both sides of the bed. In this day and age where everyone has a phone they need to charge, it would have been preferable to have an outlet by the nightstand. Also, when I look out the window, I see paint / stucco peeling off the building, which adds to the outdated feel of the hotel. 3. Breakfast in the Aria restaurant was excellent. Selection, quality and taste were great and service was good. I was quite satisfied with the breakfast experience. 4. Executive Club was luxurious and selection during cocktail hour was satisfactory. Generally, service was very good but one staff's action made my raise my eyebrows. There was group of pretty rowdy group of television crew from the US to report on the North Korean missile launch that weekend and one staff was too focused on tending to them that even though I was sitting right next to their table and had empty plates and cups to be cleared, she completely ignored. Instead, she kept going back and forth to bring them more drinks and carried out conversations. Not a major issue but I just wish she had been more attentive to other tables as well. ------ Whether it was with my parents or by myself, I have been to this hotel numerous times over the years and overall, this is a good hotel and I know what to expect. Although there were some bad experiences in the past, I am generally satisfied with the overall service. However, I again feel that some sort of room renovation is due but I think their focus is on renovating dining outlets for now. Regardless, I do have three more reservations at this hotel coming up in February.
