We had two rooms for four nights in December 2016. This is an excellent hotel. The location is perfect, service is excellent, and the rooms/facilities are very nice. I appreciated that the hotel confirmed connecting rooms in advance. The executive floor included a great breakfast buffet and really nice happy hour spread. The pool and spa facilities are great. I highly recommend this property.
"Bring back the sofas!"
This used to be my favorite hotel but I think that we will stay elsewhere next time. The hotel itself is still beautiful, clean, and the staff are all hardworking and lovely. But during the last renovation, they removed all seating from the lobby of the hotel - so there is no place to sit while waiting for others to come down or when meeting friends, etc. What a stupid decision! Now people have to stand in this cavernous lobby while waiting. That's why I am giving this review 4 stars. Also this is an old institution - the first luxury hotel in Seoul. While the rooms are larger than most hotel rooms in Seoul, they lack modern conveniences such as multiple outlets and ports for today's electronic devices, and still has a tub/shower combo in a smaller bathroom. The Japanese bidet toilet is a plus though! While still a five star in every sense, I just wish they had renovated with more modern amenities. The location in Seoul can't be beat - within walking distance to everything in North Seoul: Cheonggyecheon Stream, Deosukgung Palace, Myeongdeong, Namdaemun, etc. We even walked to and from Insadong very easily. There is a subway stop right here and Lotte is next door. The Executive Lounge needs improvement. Too many people in too little space and too short service hours. They also need more actual service workers. The food and drinks were plentiful (continuously refilled) and generally was tasty during cocktail hour (6-8 pm). Would have preferred a bit earlier/longer hours since we like to have drinks before going out to dinner. Breakfast assortment was plentiful and delicious. Chosun Hotel has one of the best gyms in Seoul, as well as a fabulous spa. The gym is probably the best equipped gym as far as the variety of machines. The bath area is immaculately clean and much more suited to Westerners than other baths in Korea in terms of having large bath towels and bathrobes for the shy :). Entrance fee is complimentary for executive level rooms or costs KRW40,000 pp per visit. I would also recommend the 30 min. Korean body scrub just for the experience!
"Great Place to stay"
Great location, very comfortable room and bed. Friendly helpful staff. We had the Christmas buffet dinner, food was great, a good selection and they kept on bringing out fresh food until closing time, most impressed. The only non positive comment we had was the buffet breakfast was one of the most expensive we have com across.
"A Treat in Myeong Dong"
For those who want luxury accomodation in Myeongdong, this is not a bad choice. Front desk staff were polite and efficient. When I made my reservation, I requested an early check-in at 10am and a late check out on departure at 2pm. Both were confirmed for me. All the staff spoke English so language was never a problem. Bell boys were very helpful with getting me taxis and giving the taxi drivers instructions for our destination. The room was slightly dated but well maintained and very clean. I had a standard room which was very spacious and could accommodate 2 large suitcases open, with room for a lounge chair. It was nice to have a nespresso machine in the room. There are convenience stores just outside, and easy access to Myeong dong shopping street from level LL. Located right next to Lotte and Young Lotte Plaza. Perfect for a ladies' shopping trip. It is an hours' taxi ride to and from the Incheon airport. Taxi rides to Gangnam / Garosugil took about half hour.
Excellent hotel with excellent service, perfect location, easy access and friendly staff. Have been staying at this hotel many times, and still this is one of the best hotel that I've ever stayed. Just cross the main road, you can enjoy lots of shopping at Myeongdong shopping area. Lotte Department Store and duty free shop is just next door. This time I was upgraded to the club floor, with club lounge access - which made my stay more wonderful - with nice breakfast there, and drinks and cocktail time. Heavenly bed at Westin is my favourite, it's so comfortable! Hotel staff are very friendly and helped me a lot to arrange the KTX train tickets. I love the cake shop - Menagerie - I bought some apple tarts there (beautiful look - like roses) and it tasted very yummy and my friends all loved it. :) Aria restaurant - the lunch buffet there served a big variety of food and it's so delicious and I enjoyed a lot.
