We chose this hotel for our weekend getaway to Boston. The location was great and it was super clean. It was in walking distance to a lot of great bars and restaurants. If you request a room on one of the higher floors the view is great!!
"Bar 10 is awesome to host an event at Westin Copley"
First, Amanda Doyle is a true ROCK STAR at the Westin Copley Place, I was amazed at the speed of response to emails at 6am and 6pm on the same day! Our cocktail hour at Bar 10 was perfect, the bartenders we responsive and cordial. They transformed the space with high tops and it worked our extraordinarily well.
"Great location, reasonable price, nice room with a great view"
I don't usually stay at SPG hotels since they aren't my brand. However, friends were staying at the Fairmont (it was booked by the time we searched) and we wanted to be close. The Westin is directly across the street and located a block away from the Back Bay Metrolink Station and the Copley Square T stop. Boston is a small city, so the major tourist spots were within a 1.5 mile walk or a $8 uber ride. We upgraded to a high level "river" view "executive" room which did offer spectacular view of the Charles River. The price point was very competitive with similar chain hotels but IMO the view and accommodations were superior. The room is typical Westin, featuring two Queen beds, a large screen TV, plenty of outlets for charging, a fridge (no mini bar) and the rest. It had recently been updated and was very clean. Water pressure in the bath was very good and plenty hot. The air conditioning was relatively rattle free and we slept very well. Check in and out was a breeze -- we indicated a preference for early check in and the day prior received an email offering a guaranteed early check in for $25 extra. This was well worth avoiding the nuisance of storing our bags with the bellman and retrieving and then dressing in a hurry after our first outing and before dinner. The staff was very helpful at check in and throughout our stay. All in all, it was a very nice experience at a brand that I don't use often -- i will have to reconsider my loyalty preferences after this weekend getaway!
"Great Location and a Nice Stay, BUT It Feels More Like a 3 Star Property Than a 4 Star"
The location is great; you can access Hynes and the Pru without ever having to step outside. That's worth something. I personally found the valet service to be overpriced (we used SpotHero.com to find a valet garage in the immediate area that was literally less than half the price -- $25 versus $54 for the hotel to park the car). I've stayed a number of times in 4 star and 5 star hotels in the Boston/Cambridge area, and this just did not feel as though the Copley Place was a comparable experience. When compared with the Royal Sonesta, The Langham, The Liberty, and The Seaport Hotel, this Westin (while perfectly nice) feels like a 3 star hotel. It was pretty clean, but the rooms were a bit dated. We had some slight water stains on the ceiling of our room (#2722), a couple of hairs around the tub area that were left from the previous guest, and the carpets in the rooms and halls are spotted in a few areas (not badly, just the normal wear and tear you commonly see in non-luxury hotels). The takeaway in this: If your main goal is location, and you're willing to spend ~$400 per night for 4 star proximity to the major attractions of Back Bay, this hotel is a good choice. However, if you're like us (we believe that the luxuriousness of the property in which we're staying is just as important as the location), I believe that there are better options for the price point.
"Great service and convenient"
Great service, from doorman... to front desk... to housekeeping. I wish to acknowledge the excellent customer service from Yana, who was very helpful with my requests and questions! My guest room was spacious and clean, check-in & check-out processes were very fast. The hotel is convenient with direct access to a shopping mall and 5-minute walking distance to 2 subway stations. The only shortfall is the absence of a good restaurant within the hotel. But, oh well, gave me a reason to enjoy the sun (or breeze) and walk to a place for a nice meal... Well done!
