"Fantastic stay - great staff, nice property and room"
Our stay didn't start off great - when we arrived around 7pm on a Thursday there was hardly any staff at the reception, and in front of us was a big family that had some issues and was trying to change rooms which was taking forever. We waited for probably 30 minutes before being helped. Then when we checked in they told us there would be an extra 35E fee per night for having 2 people in the room, which I had never heard of before. So far, no good. We expressed our frustration to the staff but finished check in. Despite this, they did provide us with a nice upgrade (Plat SPG) to a sea view room with balcony, and there was a welcome bottle of wine waiting for us there with a nice note. The GM somehow heard about the check-in experience and found us at the hotel to personally apologize (which wasn't necessary at all but very much appreciated). The rest of the stay was just lovely - the room was beautiful and well maintained, the staff was friendly and helpful without being overwhelming, the location was great, and the amenities were all very nice and in very good condition. We didn't eat at any of the restaurants so can't comment on that but I will say the lounge hostess Pamela was particularly amazing - she overheard my wife mentioning an allergy and personally made sure they had some special food available for her. All in all, highly recommended hotel in Malta!
"A below standard Hotel"
The main lounge would make a great aircraft hanger. The hotel has 390 mostly empty rooms "All have a Sea view". When we arrived they contrived to give us one that looked out over 50 other balconies. I asked why' I was told "i'm sorry, we can move you" We didn't bother. The room was large and spartan featuring a catering size peddle recycle bin with three large segments (plastic/glass/paper) outside in our corridor was and industrial sized bin marked plastic/glass/waste/cans/paper. Do they have staff' The toilet was stained and the peddle bin was rusty and broken We eventually worked the T.V by operating all the side buttons (no instructions). The P.I.R. in the corner of the room clicked a red L.E.D. on. Turn over at night, on goes the L.E.D! The bed was fractionally less firm than an oak plank. No volume with hotel details or local tours/etc. Just 2 small cards. One small complimentary water or pay 5.25 (local1.00) Our friends stayed at a bright new modern boutique hotel with a friendly warm welcoming team. The "Valentina" half the price twice the value. Stay there !
"Lovely Hotel and Location"
We visited this hotel for one week at the beginning of March. The room was really spacious with two queen beds and kept spotlessly clean. The staff were helpful and friendly and the food was excellent. The hotel was a great base for getting round the island on local transport and the hopper buses. An easy bus trip into Valetta for 1.50 Euro. A great hotel for relaxation and as a base for visiting the island tourist spots. The hotel was also very convenient for the Dragonara Casino.
"Five star price, zero star cleanness"
Usually I avoid negative reviews. But not this time. Hotel is located on a nice spot. The view is nice, the resort itself is new and tasty. Check-in is painfully slow. We had some problems with dirty toilet and sheets upon arrival. (See the photo). This was our major concerns by far. Also the soap disappeared on the second day so we had to use our own. Food was excellent, coctails as well. Kids (=below 18) are forbidden to use the pool after 7pm (guess what: they pay full price for the rooms). Yet they are permitted to sit in the lobby bar along drinkers. Interesting policy. Then we got charged for environment protection and charity which I have no objection against but I find it very aggressive to opt-out not to opt-in. You do not have the good feeling to give charity but you have a bad feeling of being somewhat "forced". We also found internet to be a bit steep priced. Yeah call me cheap but 5 eur per hour is something funny today. All in all, nice hotel, with some bad taste at the end.
"Our kind of hotel"
We had an Expedia four day package here recently. We chose this hotel partly because it had an indoor pool/spa but mainly because it offered rooms with two double beds, very much our preferred option when available. In fact our spacious sixth floor room had two king sized beds which were probably the most comfortable we've ever experienced in any hotel. The bathroom was also beautifully appointed, with an efficient shower and a bath that was relatively easy to climb in and out of. The TV was a modern widescreen version with the usual meagre selection of English language channels. In room WiFi was a fairly ludicrous 14 Euros a day, so we confined ourselves to the free version available in the public areas (occasionally this version would work in the room but was not reliable). Breakfast within the hotel was 23 Euros p.p.p.d. but there were plenty of much cheaper alternatives within 200 metres of the hotel. One offer we did avail ourselves of was not having the room serviced daily, which then attracted a 5 Euro voucher for use in the hotel's food and beverage outlets. Unfortunately we were given conflicting information about using these vouchers, our plan being to 'cash them in' at the end of our stay. Sadly when the time came we were told that they should have been used as we went along. While this certainly did not ruin our stay, it is a pity the procedure for this was not made clear at the outset. The staff, it has to be said, were otherwise very friendly and efficient. This is a classy hotel by any standards and one we would recommend.
