""A very memorable 50th birthday party - celebrated in great style and fantastic ambience""
As I reached this milestone I decided to have a big celebration and it sure turned out this way. I selected the Westin Dragonara Resort, St. Julians, Malta for a number of reasons - its lovely location, fantastic views, décor, catering and ambience. The professional service, welcoming atmosphere, exquisite catering and very helpful staff sure made it a remarkable and very enjoyable event, both for all my guests and particularly for myself. Here's to more celebrations at the Westin !!
"Excellent, relaxing stay & we intend to return!"
Upon arrival our room wasn’t ready but we were three hours too early for check-in. Reception staff suggested we freshen up in the gym which we did, our room was ready by 2pm. The first room we were shown to had a balcony overlooking the sea as the hotel boasts that all rooms have a sea view, but we were slightly disappointed as it also over looked the car park, wasn’t a problem to change rooms and the second room had a gorgeous view of the pool and the sea. The room was clean and cleaned daily with fresh towels in the bathroom. Each room has two double beds and they were very comfy. Staff at the hotel are ever so helpful, friendly and happy, in particular the concierge is full of wonderful suggestions of places to go or where to eat, my advice would be to always have a chat with him before leaving, his good fun! We were slightly disappointed to find out that Reef Club pool had shut the week before our stay but in fairness October is towards the end of the season. We only ate at the pool bar and the Terrace restaurant, but the food was always perfect, be wary though portion size is quite big but we found that to be the case wherever we ate in Malta. The ORVM lounge is really relaxing and luxurious especially when someone is playing the piano and serves a tempting cocktail. On the hotels website the gym photos don’t do it justice, the gym is fully equipped and quite big we made the most of the gym classes during our stay. We were thankful of the indoor pool during our stay as on some days it wasn’t quite warm enough to swim outside. By the pool and the sea I was pleased to see there were plenty of fresh towels throughout the day and on one particular sunny day when the hotel had quite a few guests’ pool staff happily brought more sun loungers outside. Our only complaint to the hotel is that the bottled water in the room is very expensive (around 5-6 euros). You are far better off going to the local supermarket and buying your own. We attend the Managers Drinks on the last night of our stay. Pleased we did as it was a pleasure to compliment them on such a beautiful hotel and its excellent staff service. We mentioned the water price to them and they did explain that its due to tax but they were looking into the matter as its mentioned quite often. Neither of us wanted to leave and we intend to return.
Just returned from a week at this hotel, our 4th time. It just gets better. Food is good, Rooms are great and the staff are brilliant and can't do enough for you. The corner tower rooms are the best rooms to get with a large balcony and a brilliant view of the bay. St Julian 's bay is the nicest part of the Island we think. Try a hop on hop off bus while you're there. The Hotel is always really clean and well kept. Its a classic Hotel not ultra modern definitely worth a try.
"Should be named Paradise Hotel"
Our third visit to Malta which we love so decided to stay at Westin Dragonara hotel in St Juliens, firstly the area is very packed with teenagers at the weekends wanting to go clubbing which did put us off the area a little bit, we normally stay at Mellieha but this would not stop us staying at this beautiful hotel again. On check in we were greeted by a lovely lady named Agnesa hope I have spelt the name correctly, check in was very speedy even though the reception seemed very busy and off we went to our room. Beautiful, spacious room, I would say luxurious but I wasn't really keen on the outdated décor but I don't come to Malta to admire peoples decorating skills. The bed was extremely comfy, and I had a relaxing sleep every night. I would like to thank a few people for their help Shela and Leon in the service center, the young gentlemen who brought our tray of food, all polite and friendly, the food I have to say was beautiful, I am a fussy eater but I ate everything, caprese salad, my husband had the fillet mignon, the tandoori chicken everything was cooked beautifully and well presented. Ramon what a delightful person. The lobby bar staff again very polite. Our room was cleaned every day throughout our stay including fresh towels, the only thing that annoyed me was we had to pay for internet in our room, for a 5* hotel I would have thought it would have been included so we did not bother, however there is free wifi in the lobby and other areas of the hotel if you so wish. There is a beauty clinic, a gym, in-door pool, out- door pools, shops, even a hairdresser, the hotel caters for everything. We went to the casino which is actually on the hotel complex. The hotel is situated over looking the sea and it was magnificent. It seemed as though all the staff make the guests feel very special and I have to say I have never felt so relaxed and looked after in a hotel like this before. I had a wonderful time and I will visit again even if its just for the food. The only other thing is I would have liked some form of entertainment every evening maybe a singer, that would have made a difference as well I think, because as I said the area is really for teenagers not our age.Thank you to everyone who make our stay very enjoyable.
"Great Hotel. Excellent Staff"
The hotel is in a great location. Easy walking distance of cafes and pubs and the nightlife, but not too close, so it's quiet. We had a tower room with the large terrace, which was a nice place to relax. The room was clean and everything worked except for one lamp. We told the front desk as we went out to dinner and it was fixed by the time we got back. Palio's was very nice. We had no reservation, so we had to sit inside, but it was pleasant nonetheless. I had the "Three Little Pigs" pizza. Very good. The best part of our stay at the hotel was the ORVM bar in the lobby. Special thanks to Ramon, John, Oliver and Kais.
