Stayed 3 nights in a Deluxe suite on the 6th floor. It did not have a view but made up for it with spaciousness. It had a large bedroom, separate lounge, separate powder room, walk in robe and huge bathroom. Totally over the top but greatly appreciated. From the time we arrived by water taxi we were looked after extremely well. Our luggage were taken from the water taxi and delivered to our room promptly and we were escorted to our room by a front office staff. As we booked through Booking.com we could not gain SPG privilege points nor could we access upgrades etc. not that we needed it in this instance. A bottle of champagne was provided and throughout our stay we felt that the service was good. We were most impressed that each time we asked for milk for our Nesspresso they brought up hot milk not the UHT stuff. Also love the amenities as they were double - triple sized bottles of the usual but particularly liked the bottles of perfume water. Breakfast was included and was very extensive. Only minor complaint was that there should be perhaps a better selection of Asian dishes as I did notice a few Asian guests. You can only eat so much bacon, eggs and sausages daily. What was special was having breakfast in the terrace overlooking the Grand Canal - now that is something special that you won't get in many 5 star hotels. The concierge were efficient and did the necessary bookings with minimal fuss. WiFi was included and reasonably quick. I have noticed that a lot of comments were quite negative about staff attitude etc. as a frequent visitor to Italy and stayed at many 5 star properties, I have noted that inconsistencies exists in all hotels. In particular I have noted that there is a snobbishness factor in the more expensive hotels, that the concierge and front office staff behave more cold and distant but I have come to the conclusion that it's the "Italian" way. I have stayed in rooms over 1,000€ and yes the more you pay the more snobbish it gets!! Just an impression but if you wish to be pandered to go to top Asian hotels and you will get just that. Overall a wonderful stay, great room, good service and the hotel was perfectly located.
"A 5 star property with No hospitality or smile"
After working in properties like Gleneagles, Taj.... I think my comments should be taken in good spirit by westin. We booked at this property as we were flying from a long haul trip from Asia, to celebrate my wife's 30th and our 2 nd Anniversary . We booked via star friends and family, which was supposed to be special rate. for £295 a night one would expect Smile and information about hotel at checkin, instead : 1) Lady at check in, made it very clear that she has upgraded us, with not a single penny of smile, or information on where is what' in short, take your key and walk away am too busy. 2) Not a single person in the hotel greets you with smile, or helps you with buggy, ( wife and new born) I have worked 8 years in leading hotels of the world, and never ever have I seen this ignorance of valuing customers. 3) We requested a change of room because ours was too hot as ther is no aircon, at the reception, we got informed no room, fully booked till Monday, yet an hour later when wife enquired they were willing to change room, for a €150 a night extra. As we were upgraded ( lol) 4) We walked next door to hotel Baeur ,even tho we were not hotel guests we were treated with respect and smile, very considerate that we had a new born, they helped us and cared to show around the property as if we were guest, to note, all with smile. 5) The hotel offers you with 2 x 500 ml bottle water as spg compliments, a day. come on really, stayed in over 35 Spg properties around 4 continents, this was a first. 6) We ordered a cappuccino , by error was sent a tea, the waiter's response " i was told tea so i got tea. " lol westin its a team effort. over all experience, if you spend money, there are better 5* properties around. Hospitality means you are willing to serve, you are willing to help, you are willing to make your guest comfy. This property defies it all, if you are not lucky. Looking forward to my stay at westin Dubai, spg.
Came in October. They turn off Air conditioning to the whole hotel. My room was 80F, despite full windows open. Absolutely unacceptable. Staff made ZERO attempt to accommodate my needs. Rooms are average. $11 euros for a coca-cola. Water (mandatory) was $9 euros. Average meal at this hotel is $150 euro for 2. Gelato' $8 euro PER SCOOP!!! It would be different if the service was top notch like Paris Vendome Westin. This one... might as well get the best western, at least they have air conditioners still. Won't return. I am a SPG member as well.
"Beautiful hotel, convienently located"
We stayed at this Westin in Venice, in early October 2016, celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary and my birthday. We booked our room using Starwood Points. I was a little disappointed that we didn't have a direct view of the Grande Canal, but our room was quiet and comfortable, and spacious for European standards. One of the hotel managers, Carlotta, escorted us to our room. She was amazing and helpful, and made sure we received exceptional service while we were guests. We did not eat at the hotel restaurant, but we wish that we had. We wanted to venture out and try something on our own. We regretted that decision though. Avoid: "Il figli delle stele," across the lagoon, as the service is slow and the overpriced food is mediocre. Also avoid the touristy "Ristorante Alla Conchiglia." Our server was deceitful and guilted my husband into tipping 20% extra on our meal, when service was already charged on our bill, and the service was not exceptional. We felt taken advantage of. Anyway, those restaurant reviews are no reflection on the Westin. This hotel is clean, safe and near all the sites. We will stay there again, if and when we return to Venice. Thank you Westin and Carlotta for making our celebrations so special!
We were met on the dock, at sunset, by three staff. From the beginning we were taken care of, especially with a suite upgrade for our anniversary. The concierges were most helpful. The Tiepolo bar was wonderful to rest and watch the boats float by. Our breakfast was terrific with every effort to accommodate our requests.
