"Good location, old building"
It is very well located, it is just across the beach and ir has a "private" passway to the beach, but kind of slow. The lobby is nice, smells so good but whrn you enter the room it has carpet so it smells not so very good, there is a humidity smell in the room due to the brilliant idea of having a carpeted room next to a pool or beach. The room is spacious, kind of old, The bathroom is nice and new with good amenities. We were very unlucky our view was a wall. The restaurant by the pool is good for lunch, there are salads, american food as nachos, burgers, etc. The pool is not very big ir was really crowded but I guess it was because of the season. I recommend to stay in the main tower, the one where is the lobby, cause otherwise you have to walk a lot and take too many elevators to get to your room or the pool.
The hotel is shabby and can hardly be called upscale. It's also under construction and that doesn't help. While some of the staff was quite nice they were not polished and were unprofessional. Had a problem with room service, they sent the wrong meal and when I told room service the first person couldn't understand me and put her supervisor on who was beyond rude. They never sent the right meal and after nearly 2 hours I just ate what they sent. They charged $6 for a 3 cup pot of hot water with one tea bag and when I asked for another I was told that 1 tea bag was good enough for 3 cups of tea. Never got the other tea bags. They also encourage guests to skip housekeeping for 500 starwood points. There are plenty of other places to stay so don't stay here and pay nearly $400/night to be spat on while spending $6 for a pot of warm water.
"Good hotel for Fort Lauderdale "
Firstly, whatever anyone tries to tell you about how much has changed ... Fort Lauderdale is not the new Miami! It is definitely a cruise / conference place, which the hotel clearly serves. Once you accept that, the beach is lovely, the pool had plenty of beds and towels, the room was spacious and very comfortable. Local shops / restaurants a short stroll away. The spa is great with some very good treatments and they arranged a personal trainer for me during my stay who was fantastic (Arquell) and encouraged me to join their weekly run club which was quite the social event!
"A surprise weekend get away"
We have recently returned from Ft Lauderdale, the weekend of the 6th through 9th of January. We stayed at the Westin Beach Resort, for a simple get away! Despite a very stressful and tragic time for Ft Lauderdale: I did want to highlight how great I thought the Assistant Manager, Bobby Harris was in addressing a few of our concerns. He not only took initiative, ie. - in seeking us out--we'd been waiting in a line for a bit, but was genuinely concerned and thus happy to help us. He was very accommodating, generous, and effective! Thank you Mr. Harris!
