"Nice Spacious Accomodation - Average Restaurant"
Here several days on business in October. Found the room really spacious an nicely appointed including a fridge. The staff was generally friendly and accommodating. The bar staff was not attentative and are not an asset to the overall facility. Food was ok. First floor mens room near conference rooms had coat hooks missing from at least two stalls. Great restaurant, Dobson's, just around the corner from the hotel.
"Somewhat lacking as compared to other Westin visits."
My overall experience was not that great. The TV did not work, the options for food and conversation were limited, and the general atmosphere was not to the expectations I have had at other Westin Hotels. The area around the hotel was not that clean, and the amount of homeless was a big distraction. I understand there is little the hotel can do, but I will seek other accommodations next time in San Diego. I also found it ridiculous that you have to pay $14.25 a day for wireless in this day and age.
Stayed here for a week in mid October. The location is great and the rooms comfortable. Breakfast is good - tho obviously pricey being a hotel - go to Brian's for the best breakfast. The concierge Julianne was brilliant and made our trip so much more enjoyable with her suggested trips and sorting tickets for us, including a football game. A few issues did mar our visit. Parking at the hotel is €46 per night and I'd suggest not having a car when staying or parking elsewhere. Also some aspects of the service left a lot to be desired. We arrived at 8 pm on a Sunday and the info and welcome from the valet (who were hard to find) and the front desk was almost non existent. When we checked out we were charged for extras we didn't have i.e. Parking and a 20 facilities charge (which hadn't been told of or used). When we left no one offered to help us load our cases or golf clubs into the car. Individually these weren't major issues but they left us feeling we'd still stayed at a lower service hotel but paid a premium. Hopefully the hotel will sort this out.
"Kristina and Lauren are Fer Sure the Bee's knees!"
Had a few craft brews at the bar and totally enjoyed the lovely bartenders Kristina and Lauren. They were friendly, knowledgeable, and experienced bartendeders to boot. They both seem stoked to be there and greeted each patron with a smile. Their knowledge of the surrounding area and excellent recommendations were appreciated. Great job ladies!
"Decent, but a bit tired."
I was at the hotel for a conference from the 7th -11th October 2016. The hotel is pretty decent although seems a bit tired and in need of a refurbishment. I was given a room with two beds although I was there by myself. When I asked for a king size bed they offered one to me for an additional price which seemed a bit silly since the room was no better. They also offered to not clean my room in order to "go green", perhaps I would have taken this offer if they had given me a discount or another incentive since that meant the staff would not even enter my room. This just seemed to me to be a cheeky way of more profits for the hotel chain. I would suggest that if you really support the "go green" campaign then offer an incentive such as an upgrade or a discount. On Sunday night (9th of October) I was at the bar with a full bar and one very upset bartender. She, was by herself and, obviously, quite frustrated with the lack of help. We asked for a tequila and when she stropped over threw the shot glasses at us with no limes. I saw a jar with oranges and helped myself to one. She then rushed over and basically screamed at me saying that if I EVER did that again she was going to get me thrown out!!. I was in shock!! How dare her treat a customer like that' If I had done something wrong she could have told me politely and I would have apologised accordingly. I am not sure I would stay at this hotel again with staff like that.
