"Central Location - Upscale Westin"
I was at this hotel for 5 days for a conference. The lobby is new and impressive and I was upgraded to a corner room which had a great view of the city. The hotel is right next door to Horton Plaza so in case you forgot anything at home shops and the CVS are just steps away. It's very close to plenty of downtown dining options and all the nightlife. If in the area I would stay here again. The only down side was that the room service was worse than expected. I had ordered breakfast one morning and dinner the night of my arrival. The fish was cooked to a brick yet the risotto underneath wasn't all that warm. For breakfast the potato cake was practically burnt on the outside but cool and undercooked on the inside. Not ideal at all. Unless you REALLY need to order room service, I recommend ANYPLACE else for food. I ended up going to the Starbucks the remaining mornings at Horton Plaza and then going out to dinner each night after even if it was just something close by.
"Great location, comfortable bed"
We stayed here for a medical conference and it was perfect for a long weekend trip. The location is near seaport village, downtown, all over. We rented bikes a block away off the street and road to Balboa Park, downtown, by the USS Midway, etc. There is a panera and a drug store so snack and creature comforts are easy to access. The hotel bar off the lobby isn't that bad for a quick refreshment. The room was clean and fine. The bed was comfortable. Our view was cute - saw some of the water.
Great location! Within walking distance of many places to enjoy. Food, parks, tons of places to eat, steps from a mall, close to buses, 15 min. walking to the bay area. The hotel is clean and quiet. Everyone at the hotel is helpful and friendly. The bed is the expected Westin slumber bed. Always have a good nights sleep in their beds.
"Solid Stay - Good Location"
Stayed 2 weekend nights with another couple. Hotel is located in the heart of the Gas Lamp, with easy walking to nearly anywhere downtown including the waterfront and the Convention Center. There is another Westin a little closer to the waterfront - but this is a much better location to restaurants and the vibe of the Gas Lamp. Beds were fine -could use some newer more form pillows. Bathrooms can use a little updating - get rid of the bathtubs and put in showers - though they did have excellent shower heads and hand-helds as well. Reception and bell staff were all excellent. Concierge was knowledgeable and helped set up a couple of our dinner reservations at walk-able locations. We had a couple of drinks at the lobby bar - the staff and drinks were all terrific. Look for happy-hour specials on weekdays. Bottom line, don't hesitate to stay here.
"Great hotel with 5 Star customer service. This is the kind of get away that everyone needs."
Best customer service in the Downtown Gaslamp District for a Hotel. The fantastic Starbucks girl was named Selena. What a happy way to start your morning. Paul at the Bell Desk is the most professional bellman you have seen. The front desk staff is good. The Hotel is centrally located in the downtown San Diego area and next door to the downtown shopping mall. Great rooms and a wonderful view. This has been a needed getaway.
