"In search of the flushing toilet............doing battle at the "Grand""
We found a flushing toilet in our third room. We do appreciate that it was a suite. However, I would have been fine with first room if the toilet flushed. I do not appreicate the work of moving rooms twice after the first. The gym has been scaled back since our last Messe show two years ago. There is now one weight bench rather than two and down to to two treadmills. It is not enough since the hotel also sells memberships, which is a common practice. I waited 90 mins for use of the weight bench one day and gave up. There is not much else one can do for weights--there are a few machines but not for the serious gym visitor. The hotel is incresingly tired with scratched up doors and hallways, dirty worn out carpet and non working lights in ceiling and the lounge is minimal and cut back since our last visit two years ago. There is a lovely lady called Pam in the breakfast area that brought fresh egg whites prepared as requested promptly each morning. She is the star employee of the property. She was professional and prompt and went above and beyond to deliver a positive breakfast experience. Our last night our in room wake up alarm that we had not touched mysteriously set itself to wake us at 615am--it was our only morning to sleep. I could not sleep after and believe that only housekeeping was in our room and it was not an accident. Upon check out we commented on this to the front desk and Theresa said the last guest must have set it except we had occupied the room for a number of nights........bad answer we did not touch it the entire visit. We saw a 13 euro phone call on our bill. We made no phone calls so Theresa suggested we called room service (which is not 13 euros) and I answered that we had no room service bill so she accused us of paying cash for room service but somehow spending the 13 euros to reach the room service. The food is not such that I would order there. The heavenly beds are not heavenly standard. They offer two foam pillows and two worn out feather pillows. I pointed this out and was told our guests want foam pillows.......perhaps another figament of their imagination. Thank goodness the battle is over!
"This is homebase for business in DE"
This place is by far some of the most high class and best service that I've every received from an SPG hotel in the world. They treat me with respect and they know me by name. When I come here it feels like home. This is the only place I stay when I am in Frankfurt
"Tired old hotel"
Pros: Just down the block from an S-bahn train station and a straight train to the airport Keurig machine in each room Cons: Did not have heavenly Westin beds Room was not spotlessly clean Staff was kind of curt and not cheerful No upgrades available for SPG status I would recommend you stay in another SPG property in Frankfurt
"Outrageous internet pricing"
Location is great. Staff was friendly and helpful. Internet is outrageously priced. An obvious intent to gouge customers. I complained politely and the staff acknowledged that it is the most frequent complaint. The listing mentions that free wifi is available but you have to be very careful to read that it is only in the lobby. You have to pay for access in your room. This really felt like a bait and switch scam even though they were technically accurate. Admittedly, we did not read carefully enough so we did not figure this out until after making a non-refundable booking. I understand the need to make a profit but I do not enjoy feeling cheated. I would strongly encourage all travelers to avoid this hotel until they change the policy.
The hotel to choose if you want to be within walking distance of what's to see in Frankfurt. That said, it is he financial capital and when compared to other cities, not much to see. The hotel was nice, clean and safe.
