"a few disappointments"
stayed here for 2 nights tuesday-thursday this week (feb 2017). Upon arrival in the evening, there were 2 check in desks open (one SPG lane and one normal) with people being served at each. Joined the SPG lane as im a gold member with one gentleman in front of me. The check in boy was very inexperienced, and i was waiting nearly 20minutes to check in despite only one person in front of me. Considered moving to the normal check in desk, but even after 20mins the lady was still too busy flirting with the guest to have moved onto the next customer. Waiting this amount of time is totally unacceptable. So, it came to checking out. Arriving downstairs at 7.35am to join a queue of 11 people to check out, with only 2 ladys manning the normal desks, and a queue of 10 people in the SPG gold lane with one lady manning the SPG desk! again waited longer than 20 mintes!! Very disappointing that they cannot put on extra stuff for check in and check out during peak periods. So during check in i was told i could add breakfast for 19 EUR there and then but if i did it the next day it would be 29 EUR. . not sure why the price difference. I was also told internet was not free for my room (when in fact it was in the rate i booked). Furthermore as an SPG gold member i used to get complimentary upgrades or at least a welcome note/gift in the room. what did i get at the Westin. . nothing. yes nothing. Overall hotel was average (paulaners downstairs was nice with good service). Wouldnt stay here again if i had the choice, but sadly for work reasons i am booked here for a conference for one week in June.
"Great international hotel to stay in"
It was a good stay, especially at the Club floor level. The hotel has about 600 rooms and was full! Means it is well managed and successful especially for business. Rooms are large enough and hopefully I got a double bed which is not systematic in Germany. Breakfast at the last floor Club could offer more choice.
"truly an exceptional gem in Bavarian hospitality, never fails to deliver, always with a smile"
Having spent the previous couple of nights at the 4 seasons hotel in downtown Munich, I very nice hotel it is too, I could not wait to get to the Weston Grand, over the years I have stayed in many hotels in Munich, but no matter which I try I still make sure that at least over half my stay in Munich will be at the Weston Grand. Not because it's a starwoodhotel, no not at all, it's because of the people who work there, it's all to do with the staff, and I can with hands on heart say that from the minute you arrive to the minute you leave, they greet you with a smile that says hello, and with words softly spoken they make you feel really welcome, but above all they actually convey a sincerity that is not put on, it's genuine it's real and it's their passion, their desire and their intention, to make you feel at home. Outstanding! Simply wonderful, a description I give to a particular young lady, who handled my check in procedure, her name is Loretta, a beautiful name for a beautiful girl with a beautiful smile and kind attentive attitude, an excellent front of house face to the Starwood brand, the marketing of the Starwood brand is very very professional, and slick and enticing, a world of hospitality, that in my experience is always delivered in style. Loretta is exceptional, I am mentioning this young lady because of all the hotels I have had the pleasure of staying, and of all the receptionist that checked me into the hotel, and apart from Maria Maddalena Vivian of the fabulous Saturnia international hotel in Venice, this young lady, Loretta, raises the bar, because from the moment you meet her you feel a warmth of hospitality wash over over and hug you, almost immediately making you feel very relaxed and content that you are in good hands, she has an air of competence and knowledge that belies her years, she has a manner that shows you the guest that you are indeed a valued client and her intentions are that whilst here your stay will be everything and more than you could imagine, yes indeed this young lady is an asset and a very valuable one within the Starwood team. The check in procedure was smooth stress free and massively efficient, after a long flight and taxi journey to the hotel. I requested a room with a city view and I got that, what a room, perfect, the room was good size and exceptionally well laid out, the furnishings are typical German quality, no mistakes, no errors no excuses this furniture was really nice quality, the bed huge, the bedding dream like pure white, the decoration too was easy on the eye, the room was in a Bavarian style, and the bathroom was spacious and very well equipped, the shower powerful and easy to control, the bath too was a delight, everything was clean in fact cleaner than clean, clearly the house keeping team were spot on when it came to detail. Nice bar, and extras finished off the whole offer, the temperature was easy to control and access to the room easy, no noisy passageways or neighbours, the overall accommodation was a dream. Little things like a trouser press an ironing board or laundry service ticked the right boxes, the bathrobes slippers and complimentary water and bathroom items all of a quality one would expect from this house. The room service too was equally efficient and impressive, in speed of delivery. Then after sorting out our luggage we decided to chill out and where better than a much looked forward to trip down to the spa, Here is a chill out zone, one that caresses the senses and the mind, the swimming pool is larger than average, it's clean lines and water temperature make it a pleasure zone, its quiet too, and the facilities are all one could want in a room of such self indulgence in the needs of the mind. The bar offers up refreshments and towels, cold drinks from fresh orange to lemon juice, coffee tea or a beer, then there are the add on like the massage and body treat, ent zone, here you can float on a cloud of pampering and soothing treats that make the day extra extra special. The sauna too was a delight, nude of course, so be warned, not everyone is familiar to the tradition of open minded German saunas, sitting next to a beautiful body naked as a jay bird is a challenge to the senses in all ways, the steam room too the same as is the dry heat room all a birthday suit room where you are free of the rags of life, the badges and uniforms of what we wear and which show who we should be, down stairs in the nude sauna one is one, we are all the same no pockets to fill not badges or trinkets labels to impress, just the skin we live in...it's sonderful it's natural and it's so liberating. Then to eat, the bar area has tit bits the lounge too offers a variety of dishes to please, then downstairs you have the paulaner restaurant, Bavarian food served up by very buxom Bavarian lassess, who have a smile as happy as a summers day. The dishes are and I warn you large....try you will enjoy, oh and the ice beer scrumptious. Then where next oh yes the breakfast....oh tiddly tiddly do Dee do tiddly do...a veritable eatery of much in flavours choices and temptations, feast upon feast, to choose from a dish to suit all pallets and a personal chef on hand to make up something more bespoke. It's here I really do make a bit of a pig of myself, and then not eat all day...I love food it's the only thing I ever eat... Then what next....back to the spa....for a relaxing detox and sleep...soothing lapping sounds of the pool and the background music the aromatic air circulating around you, the dash to the sauna the dip into the ice cold chiller dip, and the walk in the garden all makes the Weston Grand in my opinion the place to stay when in Munich, it's not too far out of downtown Munich say 15 minutes by taxi, 45 minutes from the airport and a hop skip and a jump from where you are now....so what you waiting for....lets go...oh and hopefully the lovely sincere care of Loretta will be there for you. Enjoy.
I've chosen this Hotel because it was close to both old town and my business meeting point. Even though the hotel is not in the Bavarian style and facade looks rather old, it was very nice and comfortable. It has Paulaner restaurant which gives you feel of real Munich. The jewel in the crown is a breakfast. Amazing!!!
"Just Loved It"
Spent three nights here in December in an upgraded Westin Club Room. Is this the best hotel that Munich has to offer' To be honest, we haven't stayed in every hotel in the city but it is, by far, the best that we have stayed in, to date, and there is no reason to try anywhere else when we (and we will) return. Our room was on the top floor (22) and the views over the city and the mountains was excellent. Food in the executive area was good and the spa area was a real joy before and after our sojourns into the city. Munich is my favourite European destination and the Westin Grand Hotel adds value to an already unbeatable destination.
