THE WESTIN LA QUINTA GOLF RESORT & SPA is located in the Golf Valley, surrounded by elegant villas. It is a 10-minute drive from Puerto Banus and 15 minutes away from Marbella’s centre. The hotel offers a free shuttle service to these two destinations.
Complete renovation of the interior of the hotel is stunning - rooms are excellent, well equipped and large, beds luxurious, air con heating made cold and wet November bearable! Let down by restaurant, small menu forgivable in November but 50% more expensive to eat there than in upmarket restaurants nearby. Definitely need transport if staying there. Coffee and tea truly awful. Staff really friendly. Extra charge for parking your car was annoying. Will definitely return.
"What's happenned to the greens'"
Having played here last year we were looking forward to another visit, buggies were included. We realised sometning was amiss when on booking in we were told to start at the 10th tee where we could get free coffee and halfway round we would receive a free "lunch pack" Once on the course the reason for the freebies was soon apparent, the fairways were really poor and tons and tons of seed had been applied to every hole - not really a problem as we played prefered lies. The real issue was the state of the greens. These were good last year but over the course of a full year the sufaces had been lost and then patched with grown turf, some of the greens were 90% patched and the holes looked as though they had been in the same place for days (probably not the case, but the poor state of the greens made it look that way) If the greens can be allowed to deterioate to such an extent over one season we will not be returning
"One of the better course in the area to play"
We play here most years whilst on holiday and enjoy the course. Friendly staff, good facilities, excellent lunch, excellent practice facilities and a lovely course. The course was in good condition, greens good and fast and a nice pace of play. Worth the trip if you are golfing in the area, can be more expensive than some course, but worth the extra.
"Nice Westin but a bit strange.."
I thought I hated golf but after a short training session and half a round at the Westin La Quinta Golf Resort, I was absolutely sure. I hated it and still can't understand the excitement nevertheless that wasn't the motive behind staying at the Westin La Quinta Resort. It's out of the way of the usual rif-raf Marbella attracts and nightly rate is sufficient to keep them at arms length. We hired a car from Malaga Airport and drove directly to the hotel. Sat navs are essential and if you haven't driven in Europe before, a co-driver will come in handy. Rooms were spacious but furniture sparse. Bathrooms large too but disappointed not to find any tea/coffee making facilities; sometimes you just want a cuppa, sorry not possible here. Beds were magical and all rooms have balconies. By the way if you can find the switch to the lights on the balcony, please let me know. Rooms over looking the rear (pool side) have beautiful panoramic views. Sunrise is a treat. The reception, housekeeping, security, pool and dining staff were all great. Although I felt the ground-keeping staff started too early - it's a bit like your over zealous neighbour out with his lawnmoor on a Sunday morning. That's right; you feel like hurling abuse at them. Breakfast was a delight with lovely concoctions of smoothies. There's a nice variety of fresh local produce and dairy products too. La Quinta is a mutated strain of the Westin chain as almost everything seemed to be an add-on. Parking is 12 euros a night in their underground car park. Use of their entire sauna facilities is chargeable. Even the buggy for golfers draws a fee! It doesn't come across like a family or couples hotel. More middle class Englishmen arriving on a Thurs/Fri for a long weekend of golf but not so many wags accompanying them. Would I go back' I'm not so sure. Thanks for reading.
"One of the best colcourses I've ever played."
The Westin La Quinta Golf Resort & Spa is in addition to a spa and hotel (that I’m sure are excellent) a superb golf course. The two times I visited the place in September this year was to play the golf course. And I was not disappointed! La Quinta has 27 holes, split among 3 nine-hole courses. The first time I played the A and C, and the next time the B and C. All three courses are excellent, but B was in my opinion by far the best. Challenging but forgiving, and in excellent shape. To top it the view is splendid, and it’s fun to look at the fantastic villas built along the course. The service is excellent, security at the gate, very friendly staff, free driving range, and a beautiful terrace bar. All this luxury of course come with a price. € 70 off season, and € 99 in the high season, buggy for two players included. Too expensive for me to play every day, but it’s so nice that we had to play it when on vacation in Marbella.
