"Lacks the luxury"
First time staying at this hotel and it won't be high on my list of places to stay when visiting NOLA. It's location is at an ideal area for visiting FQ and for catching the trolley but other than that I wasn't impressed. Figuring out which of the elevators to take from the parking garage to get to the hotel lobby on the 11th floor was the start of our "adventure" here. Check in was speedy but too speedy as in leaving out useful info like you must use your room keys to use the elevator. Thank goodness a hotel staff had gotten on the elevator with us and let us know that. Our floor's carpet had stains through out it that looked like large wet spots. Lighting in the room was awful. Just small lamps and one had a burned out bulb. Opening the curtain for more light didn't help because of two days of fog with zero visibility. TV sound would come on but no picture. Tried a few times turning it on and off with no luck. Called front desk and they sent up maintenance who turned the TV on and off a few times before it worked correctly. When asked what was wrong with it he said it just the type if tv it is and we have to just keep turning it on and off until it works....'''... The roll pillow on my bed was dingy and had someone's pink lipstick left on it. If you shower in the morning do not expect a hot shower. Luke warm. Shower at night when the water temp was much better. One of the beds was in direct line of the air vent that was in the wall and unless you turned it off or turned on the heat, you were blasted with chilly air. The room service trays from Friday night were outside the doors Saturday morning when we left for the day and when we came back some trays had been picked up but some not. Upon check out Sunday, those same plates with half eaten food and glasses of beer were still on the floor. Went to use the ice bucket and found the inside of the bucket dirty. With this hotel sitting above a shopping plaza with high end stores like Tiffany's and for how much they charge for the rooms I would think they would be a bit more on point with their service and cleanliness. Pros: Location to FQ and trolley line. Room was nice size with plenty of counter space in bathroom.
Had a great view of the river. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Nice, quiet place to lay your head down at the end of the day because, let's face it, you are going to eat and/or drink too much. It is New Orleans, after all! Hotel bar looks like a great place to meet up with friends. Nice view from the lobby windows. Great hotel.
Great location! I visited with my sister and we were able to walk everywhere in the French Quarter, while still being a little tucked away from bourbon street so we were able to get some sleep. I liked that you needed your key cards to go up to the guest rooms. At first it seemed a little annoying, but it definitely helped us feel safe especially with the few drunk sketchy people we saw hanging around outside. The lobby was really nice and had a great view. I definitely recommend this hotel.
"Pretty and Clean"
We stayed here for a wedding weekend. It was very clean and the rooms were plenty big. The view of the river is beautiful. I would recommend this hotel if you want to splurge for the weekend because nothing is included (parking, food). The suites are huge and there was plenty of room for the bride to get ready.
"Redeemed by the view"
I had a riverview room on an upper floor, with a view of the French Quarter, the river and Algiers. Stunning! The room was a decent size, but there was no reading chair, which made it a bit difficult to sit and work or read while enjoying the view. There also is a great view from the beautiful lobby, but the loud music and uncomfortable furniture make it less than ideal for lounging or working. The hotel is fairly quiet; I could hear occasional trains and barge traffic from our room but no street noise. Room service was decent. All of the staff were friendly and helpful. On the not-so-great side, the room was showing the wear you expect from a high-volume hotel that quickly turns over a lot of rooms. It definitely needs a deep cleaning. There was some sort of a flood in the room next door, which resulted in soaked carpet in the hall outside and large, loud fans for drying. (I had to ask more than once for them to be turned off at night, as they were right outside my door.) Then, the housekeeper changed the clean sheets on the bed I'd left made, leaving me with a sheet that only covered the top portion of the mattress and leaving the bottom section bare. Even the pillow top had been removed! I have no idea why this was done or why she/he thought this would be acceptable, but imagine my (unpleasant) surprise when I crawled into bed late after a long, busy day and my feet found the scratchy material from the mattress interior. Very, very unpleasant. The management did have everything put right after I complained, but it was a sleepless night.
