Some of the highlights: - Front desk service was incredible. - One of the best, if not the best, breakfast buffet selections I've seen. All the restaurants in the resort in general were great. -The rooms are modern with picturesque views of the beach.
"Looks better on photos"
We only booked this place as we were SPG gold members..thinking we would get better service and benefits. However we were really disappointed. As SPG members we thot we would get upgraded to a better room if any were available...was informed we had to pay for any upgrades...clearly there were rooms available. We requested for late checkout as our flight was at 5, again was told we had to check the following day. Next day was informed we had to leave earlier. Plus points...3 pools to choose from, nice Italian restaurant and friendly staff. Downside....clearly needs maintenance. To see mold in shower in a 5 star hotel, breakfast food plentiful but lacking in taste, beach and sea not what is pictured. Taxi out and into hotel way overpriced (400bt each way) so forces you to stay holed up in this hotel. Would we fly to all the way to Phuket to stay in this place' Definitely no. So think about it before you book.
"Amazing hotel with great views"
Having read a number of reviews I wasn't too sure about staying here, I have stopped in many Westin's around the world and all been very good and this was to be the same. The hotel is located on the east coast away from everything, it is very much tucked away from everything but ample food choices on site, it's a resort so you shouldn't need to leave, if however you do want to head over to the west side their is a shuttle bus that runs so it's not an issue. With regards to it being on a steep hill and rooms at the top are virtually impossible to walk up to especially for old, young children and unfit people like me but there is a buggy service available to whisk you over to your room within minutes, unsure why people find this to complain about. There are plenty of buggys available. Rooms are nice and big and the bed as always so comfortable. It's definitely worth checking out I will be back for sure!
"Great view hotel, but still room for the improvement"
Spent 4 nights with family in this Westin. While I browse the hotels online, the comments here in TA was a little scary to me to make the booking. Eventually I still book this SPG property as: 1. We travelled with family and kids, not that much into the night live.—otherwise, we will go the Patong or any other major beach. 2. The room has pool access. –small shared pool, but good for the kid in a reasonable price. 3. This is a giant hotel which was built leaning the mountain at Siray bay, Seaview from the room is great. 4. Nice and big public edge-less pool. 5. I love the heavenly sleep bed from Westin. I communicated directly with the hotel on the booking, the TAT is OK for the response, and they do accommodate some special requirement from me(e.g. send a complimentary cake(very tiny…) for one of the kid who is going to have birthday soon; the baby stroller etc..) and the hotel staff is very friendly. The room itself is big enough for a resort hotel, as SPG Gold member, I did not received any upgrade since the next level room is “fully booked”. But I found the pool access room is quite Ok. Consider the hotel is now around 5 years old, some of the interior parts have become a little aged. A better maintenance may needed. The breakfast is ok level, thought the variety is there, but compare to some other resort hotel, I believe they can do a better job. E.g. on the table, there is no indication of coffee items listed, the customer should ask for coffee options like latte, cappuccino to the waiters. It could be challenge to those guest have no English/Thai language skill. Also, I found the coffee/tea services is not consist, sometime they ask for the options you like and fetch it to you, sometime, you are pretty much on you own. For the lunch and dinner, the price is considerably higher than those you can find in Phuket town or other beach, though I have to say the taste is good, esp. Prego by the beach. The Italian food is quite nice, and the great personality of the Italian chef makes us feel more welcomed. Regarding the private beach, I must say it is just at OK level, but not good as the one Karon has. The hotel offers the kayak, small sailing, snorkeling etc. for free which is a great value add-on. But the water itself is not so great. There is a big con that I heard at the day check out that one of my friend’s room has no housekeeping service the day before (14th March), but since my friend just told me upon check out, I did not chase this to the hotel anyway. Some suggestion to the hotel management: -1 or 2 more restaurant maybe needed, it would be good to have a dedicate Chinese restaurant. -Better utilize the roof bar (where you have BBQ service' ), I think some fine dining option can be there to better cater special occasions, rather than just close it at 7:00PM. -Reduce your price of hotel-airport transportation, I booked the transportation myself which just half of the price of what hotel offered, I understand the hotel usually have higher price on the service, but slightly reduce the price will earn you more customer. -Reduce the price of transportation to Phuket Town/Patong beach, either reduce the price directly or reduce the frequency can be the option, otherwise, any group more than 2 people can take a taxi rather than your shuttle. -Get the staffs more familiar with CUP (China Union Pay), not everyone in the reception know how to use that POS machine to charge my card. Overall, it is a nice hotel is you are looking for staying at hotel and enjoy the pool, sunshine at most of the time. If you are looking for a nice beach experience, or nightlife, Karon/Patong is the better places to go.
