"Lovely Boutique Hotel - Luxury for a Great Price!"
Whoops! When I got there, we realized we had booked the wrong date. After we figured that out, the rep working the front desk couldn't have been nicer and more patient to help us out. Should have gotten her name. We loved it; corner room on the 19th floor was very spacious and had beautiful granite and tile work in the bathroom. Ate at Mei's and had very good duck and pork dishes along with some amazing dumplings. All in all, a wonderful experience. Great location in River North; across from Water Tower Place, Mus of Cont Art and within a mile of theaters, museums, great shops and restaurants, etc. Great price, but we were there on a Sunday eve.
The Whitehall is a nice hotel in a great location in Chicago. Near many attraktions and not to fare from Millimum Park. Very close to Magnificant mile with lots of shopping. Rooms were clean, and nice kept every day, they were a little dark, bit nice enough. Morning coffee were free, also a gym available. Also only a short walk from the Lake.
In my opinion the only thing this property has going for it is location and ambience . The location makes it prime for pricing and from the lobby you'd think it was going to be a worth while purchase. The rooms looked as if they were painted by teeneagers or it was a rushed job. The room only has lamps for lighting and make it seem dull which makes sense so you can't see all the mistakes.
"Good hotel in great location"
This well-established high-rise hotel is brilliantly located at the northern end of the Magnificent Mile, a length of North Michigan Avenue given over to high-end shopping. It's also handy for the beach, though this is of limited interest in January. Frequent bus services run up and down N Michigan Ave, taking you to the Loop (Chicago's central business district) and other attractions. The nearest station on the El (Chicago's subway system) is Chicago on the Red Line, a short walk away at W Chicago Ave & N State St. On my arrival Nick on Reception was very welcoming. Other staff were friendly too - even the poor guy who had to stand outside the entrance all day in sub-zero temperatures - and one of them recommended Tempo's (nearby at N State St & Chestnut) for breakfast. My 13th-floor bedroom looked out over the Magnificent Mile, with Bloomingdale's in the foreground, and a teasing glimpse of Lake Michigan between the skyscrapers. The bed was large and comfortable, there was a desk and large flat-screen TV. The free Wifi worked well - not always a given in hotels in my experience. The hotel is old with some dated fittings - the light switching in the bathroom is, frankly, a little weird - but everything seemed to work well. There is a bar and restaurants on the ground floor of the hotel but I didn't use them. I did, however, avail myself of the free coffee offered in the Reception area every morning between 6am and 9am, and I recommend you do too. I would certainly stay here again if I ever return to Chicago.
"Great for girls weekend"
Parking was a breeze. Would recommend booking the package with parking included for sure! Staff was excellent. Helped us to our room and even filled our cooler with ice for us! There was a mistake on our room charges and they corrected with no problem. Would highly recommend this place!
