"Wonderful City Views and Close to Everything"
We were thrilled with our visit to the Wyndham Midtown 45. It was our first visit to this property, but will not be our last. We have been property owners for almost 20 years and love traveling to different areas and different properties. The staff here were wonderful. Very involved, quick to make sure we had everything we needed, and able to answer any questions we had. The views from our unit were wonderful. We had a wonderful night-light...the Chrysler Building. The roof-top terrace was wonderful - great views of the United Nations Building, the end of Roosevelt Island and Grand Central Station. Another plus is there is an Irish Pub right next door. Wonderful city views and close to everything.
We stayed here through some friends and got a very good deal. The rooms are great, very spacious and have a small kitchen with everything you need for your stay. The bathroom is great and the shower is powerful and hot. The gym area on floor 3 is pretty good for a basic workout if you feel energetic enough! The real star of the show is the 33rd floor owners lounge and roof terrace. The views are fab and you can take your own drinks and snacks up there to chill out and watch the sunset.
I recently stayed here while in NY for 2 weeks for surgery. We stayed in a 1 bedroom which had a balcony. The room was very spacious especially for NY standards. We had a nice size kitchen, living room and very large bedroom. This place was larger than most studios in the city. It is a timeshare so they will ask you to attend a breakfast but we declined and they never bothered us about it. The room we stayed in was updated and very modern and clean. I loved the free laundry facilities as well, this was a bonus as we were there for over 2 weeks. The staff was very friendly and helpful as far as getting us car service and recommending great near by restaurants. The hotel is centrally located and close to everything. I would definitely stay here again as the price and space was perfect for what we needed. All in all I was extremely happy with this place and would recommend it to anyone visiting the area who would like the amenities of home.
"Only interest is in your buying MORE!"
I pieced together 4 different reservations - a 4 day, 3 day, 7 day and 3 day- to accommodate eye surgery. When i checked in I had all my paperwork to show that i needed to stay in the same room - all the same category of nonrenovated- and the staff person would not help me do that She insisted i checkout on the day i was to have surgery and check back in later that day. i was already paying $ 100 to have someone from the clinic take me back to the hotel and make sure i took my valium and went to bed. Furious she said I had to call Wyndham. I spoke to the supervisor the next day and he took care of the reservation, created new cards and assured me I was OK to go get the surgery and i would not be on the street that night! My medicine required refrigeration and that was a job daily as I was in a nonrenovated with no refrig. Most days I got a plastic pitcher which worked but seriously at $ 500 a night where are the ice buckets. I did get them on occasion but for the price this is inexcusable. The area around the lifts is way too congested and the staff know little or nothing about the area....they have not tried or been in the restaurants and their freebie - a 20% discount to the 9/11 memorial is available at any coupon center around town. Their 15% off restaurants they mention are 15% off food only - get a groupon it covers alcohol! Ran out of cheese at the owners parties..i could go on about no room service for 13 days until the maid felt sorry for me and changed my towels and sheets. Wyndham is after your money- beware!
"NYC girls week"
I bought into Wyndham a year ago and this was my first real trip using my points. I reserved a studio in April 2016 for an October 2016 stay. I wanted 6 nights, S-F, but there was only availability for 4 nights, M-Th night. We stayed at another hotel down the street the first night and last night in town. I have to say that although there was nothing wrong with the studio itself, I preferred the other hotel because it had character in the decor for the lobby and rooms. Even though the Wyndham studio was recently updated, it was very generically decorated, as was the lobby. Very blah surroundings for being brand new. The positive was that we had a studio, even though we only used the microwave and refrigerator. We also had an awesome view of the Chrysler Building outside our window! The rooftop lounge was lovely, and did get to go up for free wine and cheese our first night. The ugly was that we had to walk up 6 flights of stairs to the owners lounge from our 27th floor room because the elevator took so long, it was faster to walk up. One evening we waited 17 minutes for the elevator before it came so we could go down. We checked out on a Friday at 10 a.m. and stopped at every floor on the way down (on the one working elevator). There were people on every floor trying to get in the lift with their luggage, but it was full. I feel bad for all those folks, and can't imagine how long they all had to wait for an elevator that day. I will say that this is a very good location and is centrally located, only 3 blocks to Grand Central Station, where we caught the subway. Staff were friendly.
