"Small and quiet with excellent service"
We had a room with balcony on a bed breakfast basis and stayed a week. The room was large with access to the balcony up a short flight of steps. The views (East to Valletta) were wonderful. The staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfasts were excellent sitting at a table on a terrace in the morning sun.The location for access Mdina and Rabat was good, we didn't hire a car but used the local bus service which worked well. We spent our time reading or sight seeing and the hotel is well suited for this. We didn't use their pool which is not on site nor did we go to a beach.
This is an amazing place to stay, and I am not given to superlatives. It pretty much has everything -- it's historic, beautiful, and the architecture is probably very different from any place you have ever stayed. The customer service is outstanding, the beds are really comfortable, it's all very clean, a/c works, everything is first class, but most of all it's just an extraordinary place to stay. It is pricey but if you want to see M'dina and Rabat, which is all walking, it would be worth staying here for even one night and using it as a base. You can't check in till three but they are happy to safeguard your luggage while you wander in M'dina which could take most of the day, and that doesn't count Rabat. We stayed for a week and could not have been more pleased. We used it as a base and took the local bus to where we wanted go. Great bus system, btw, and signs are in English so no worries.
"Cannot be beaten"
From the moment you step in the door your experience will be wonderful. the staff's behaviour is exemplary. The accommodation is luxurious and the De Mondion restaurant is to die for. Spectacular views and a relaxing and peaceful experience. Very difficult to beat.
"Refreshing, unique,tasteful, beautiful location"
Beautifully restored noble residence. Very welcoming helpful staff. Realing and comfortable rooms and surroundings. Luxury old world feeling. Superb breakfast and hotel restaurants. However rooms facing the night club and restaurant terrace are not for light sleepers. Although these are the rooms with the jaccuzi, which is where we were. The private jacuzzi is sublime.
"A lovely experience"
The welcome to the hotel was good and we were offered a drink. However you can only check in after 2.30 pm so we had to leave our luggage and come back later. Our room was huge on two levels. Downstairs was the lounge area overlooking a Mdina side street. It had a sofa, desk fridge TV etc and then upstairs there was a huge bed and a large bathroom. It was a bit odd as the wardrobe was downstairs but the bathroom upstairs. Also the stairs i felt were a little steep and dangerous. At hubbys side of the bed was the balustrade overlooking the downstairs area and he felt a little uncomfortable when he got up in the night as he thought he may fall down the stairs. The room had all amenities but the bed wasnt that comfortable and a bit lumpy.
