Excellent sejour dans ce sublime hotel.Comment of K. Persephone, France the 2017-01-25
This is a beautiful hotel in an excellent location with stunning views across the Douro from Vila Nova de Gaia towards Porto's old town and ribeira. Rooms are all large with river views, with prices increasing in line with room size. Food and wine are first rate and service generally excellent, though we did experience a bit of attempted penny-pinching on a cocktail voucher. Expect to pay accordingly.Comment of C. We stayed for 2 nights at this wonderful hotel. Rooms are spacious, staff is very friendly and service minded. Restaurant is fantastic and do not forget to book a tour of the wine cellar where you will get an overview of what Portugal can offer you in fine wines. The view from the room on the Douro river and the old city centre is breath taking!Comment of L. Filip, Belgium the 2015-11-10
"Most amazing hotel"
Had the most incredible weekend break here. The hotel is superb and deserving of its reputation. The location, views, rooms, pool, spa, bars, restaurants, drinks and food are all exceptional. Everything is quality and the staff are all incredibly helpful and service fantastic. Fully intend to return on an annual basis it is that good. Location is fantastic for exploring Vila Nova de Gaia and the many port warehouses. Easy to get across to the main centre of Porto on foot too.
"Fabulous destination hotel"
Amazing place - superlative doesn't begin to describe it - wonderful views, great rooms, helpful staff, great restaurants - can't think of anything they need to improve. Concierge staff very helpful with dinner reservations, excursion and tour suggestions and bookings
"Top notch - and unique"
Was there for a Business trip in January 2017. Location of the Hotel is very unique - it is mingled down a steep hill with the entrance at the top level. It is not only the best Hotel I have been to in Portugal - it feels somewhat very unique: the Location on the opposite hill with great views over the city, the neighborhood with old port vineries within a few steps - and due to ist unique location on the hill- it still maintains its entrepreneurial, (luxury) hostel/home-like style. Service and bar great, food highly above anything I have experienced in Portugal. Good for business same as a city breakaway.
"Refined luxury-One of the best on the Iberian Peninsula"
Wow, it is a way up a hill, but has great views, but the place is just one of those special hotels that takes your breath away. Expert and warm service, great open spaces and expanses, a top-notch restaurant. We had wine on the patio for only 19 euro and was so well treated. The rooms are spectacular each with a private balcony and some of the best in room essentials. It can be pricey with some weekend nights booked. If you can afford it you will absolutely love it.
