This is a beautiful hotel in an excellent location with stunning views across the Douro from Vila Nova de Gaia towards Porto's old town and ribeira. Rooms are all large with river views, with prices increasing in line with room size. Food and wine are first rate and service generally excellent, though we did experience a bit of attempted penny-pinching on a cocktail voucher. Expect to pay accordingly.Comment of C. We stayed for 2 nights at this wonderful hotel. Rooms are spacious, staff is very friendly and service minded. Restaurant is fantastic and do not forget to book a tour of the wine cellar where you will get an overview of what Portugal can offer you in fine wines. We stayed here in September last year and I've just noticed that for some reason my review was never published . The only reason I'm doing it now is that that the Yeatman is easily the best hotel in Oporto and in my top 20 in the world, so I wanted to share our very positive experience. We loved it. The suite was very comfortable, well furnished with plenty of space and an extensive outdoor area overlooking the Duoro and the old city. The staff were extremely courteous and friendly, and nothing was too much to ask. The in-house dining experience was excellent, and a few of the restaurants down on the waterfront were superb. I have no hesitation in recommending it.
This a superb hotel. Service, location, character and cuisine. It has it all. It is located next to the Taylor port lodge which is a fascinating visit. One of the best Hotels I have ever had the pleasure to stay. Do not miss the Michelin starred (should be 2 stars) restaurant which is sensational.
"Charming, if a little international"
The Yeatman is the best hotel in Oporto by a long chalk. It's set on a slope among the old port warehouses on the "industrial" side of the river with fine views across the valley to the Oporto side, a 15 minute walk away. The rooms are large and well-appointed, the restaurants ample and the bars welcoming. The spa, I heard, was fantastic. The ambience is spacious and the corridor on each floor themed; one is decorated with pictures of local interest; mine was (hoorah) old maps. The hotel is very modern and slightly marble-a-go-go which makes it more international than Pousada-Portuguese. But this is more than made up by utterly charming staff who go out of their way to make you feel welcome and special. I'll be back.
"The best of the bests"
There are no words to describe this place, this view, this environment, this treatment, this feeling. Probably the only word I can find is: Magic. There is the most spectacular panoramic view to Porto, and all the rooms have the same view. It's just hard to leave the balcony or even to close the curtains with such amazing picture. The decoration is top: all the light furniture with the combination of the books. The window next to the bath. The toiletries quality. The breakfast in the room. All superb!
"Very special place "
We loved this place, it feels so special and is really beautiful. I don't give 5 Stars however as the sleep quality is not great - there was quite a lot of noise audible from other rooms, I don't want to hear toilets flushing, furniture moving around etc in a place like this or at the rate we paid. Other guests complained about it also - they were more unlucky than us and had their room near the restaurant which was nightly cleaned after service (moving chairs etc) Such a pity, it did impact what would otherwise have been a near perfect stay.
