Excellent sejour dans ce sublime hotel.Comment of K. Persephone, France the 2017-01-25
This is a beautiful hotel in an excellent location with stunning views across the Douro from Vila Nova de Gaia towards Porto's old town and ribeira. Rooms are all large with river views, with prices increasing in line with room size. Food and wine are first rate and service generally excellent, though we did experience a bit of attempted penny-pinching on a cocktail voucher. Expect to pay accordingly.Comment of C. We stayed for 2 nights at this wonderful hotel. Rooms are spacious, staff is very friendly and service minded. Restaurant is fantastic and do not forget to book a tour of the wine cellar where you will get an overview of what Portugal can offer you in fine wines. The view from the room on the Douro river and the old city centre is breath taking!Comment of L. Filip, Belgium the 2015-11-10
"A hotel made to be revisited."
My experience at The Yeatman is always better than the last visit. From the moment the reservation starts, even before checking in, The Yeatman creates a memorable experience. The hotel opened in 2010 and it keeps looking like new! Breakfast offers an amazing variety prepared by their Michelin stared kitchen. Dick's Bar is elegant and friendly. The Spa Caudalie is an oasis of pure relax and one feels invigorated with any of their treatments or by just visiting their spa areas. The housekeeping service is superbly kind and the rooms are spotless and very well maintained. The view is superb and the guest can enjoy it from every room, restaurant, bar, spa or both their swimming pools! Check in and check out was effortless and the Guest Relations Susana will ensure a very charming welcome to every guest. My place to stay when visiting Porto!
"Exquisite, Top Notch"
My partner and I were treated to one of the suites that was one of the largest and most well appointed hotel rooms we've ever stayed at. The hotel service was professional and competent in every occasion. We debated staying in Gaia vs in Porto but The Yeatman has stunning views of the Douro River and the old city of Porto that made us feel great about our choice. The views are almost like viewing a painting - really unbelievable. The proximity to the port cellars is the other major reason to stay here - just steps from Taylor's. The bar and cocktail area have a feel of what it was like for foreign travelers in the early 20th century. Glamorous, like a study, and perfect ambiance. I highly recommend this hotel.
The restaurant is across the river from Porto and the view of the bridge and the city was absolutely stunning. Especially at sunset. Our room had a balcony and it also faced the same gorgeous view. It will take a while to walk across the bridge and to the city though. The service was ok. Not the best we experienced in Portugal though. The main restaurant was superb for dinner and lunch at The Orangerie was excellent. The gym was generous in size and well equipped.
Stayed in a Suite with Porto view (family of 4). What a gorgeous hotel! The suite is huge and the views of Porto from the Hotel are great. Be it from the balcony, or the outdoor infinity pool, or the indoor heated pool. It's a 10-15 min walk to the restaurants on it's side of the river (Across from Porto). Keep in mind though that the walk back to the hotel is all uphill :)
"How things have changed!!!"
We previously stayed at this hotel several years and were so delighted that we returned April, 2017. Regrettable, things have changed....for the worse. Our check in was great however, we were turned over to a young lady who showed us our room. As she asked and was informed that we had stayed at the hotel before, she commented that we did not need a room tour. Unfortunately, we did not insist sHe show us the amenities of the room and ended up having to call the front desk several times for basic information. When we were unable to turn on some lights, maintenance was Called only to determine the breaker was off. We were in room 007, a master suit with 3 large leylandi trees blocking the view of Porto. Additionally, the room was dark and hot; we requested a fan and one was brought in. Water was not replenished daily and we had to ask the front desk for water. The pull down and chest press machines in the gym were both broken. At the spa, my locker provided one towel, there were no extra towels anywhere in th spa, not even in the ladies wash room. The spa showers had a hair shampoo/ body wash combo with no conditioner, shavers, or any of the normal amenities , in my opinion, you normally find in a 5 star hotel. Shower stall number one had no shampoo/conditioner combo. I called to arrange a tour of their wine cellars only to be told there was a class in session and they were were not available. I was offered a call back which never materialized. We had a gentleman by the name of Miguel at the front desk who was instrumental in helping us with an issue with our rental car. My massage with Marta was very good. The last time we were guests, the hotel was amazing, regrettably, things have changed and no longer five star quality.
