The Thompson Chicago soars high above tree-lined streets in Chicago's Gold Coast neighborhood. This accommodation showcases classic architecture with traces of Gothic influence. Located 1 block from the Magnificent Mile's world-renowned shopping corridor and the electric nightlife along Rush Street, this hotel stands 2 blocks from Oak Street boutiques and the hike-and-bike path along Lake Michigan. The Observatory and the Museum of Contemporary Art are located 1 mile (1.6 kilometers) from this property. The Thompson Chicago is also close to the train station.
"Excelent hotel with very modern amenties"
Thought it was very professional to have a check in email prior to staying there and then the follow up afterwards. It is especially helpful when hotels have adequate electrical outlets to plug all the electronics, along with the convenience of the outlets being located near the bed
Thompson hotel has a great location. My fiancé and I loved walking around and we were pleased to find that the hotel was close to water tower mall and other stores! We love Nico and always make a stop there for dinner and another for pancakes!
"A new favorite Hotel chain"
We attended the Last Speakeasy party at the Chicago Historical Society, and wanted to make a night of it. We stayed at the Thompson after spending a weekend at the Beekman in NYC. Both are Thompson hotels. Both are great. Great vibe and accommodations. Lots of windows. A great bathtub and shower. Conveniently located around the Oak Street shopping and Rush Street bar scene. A great night.
"Best location "
I've been staying at this location through the years with names such as 21 East, Le Meridien, Sutton Place and now Thompson. I had a corner room. No heat or A/C vent in the bathroom. Bad idea. Location of toilet is right across from shower. Not good. Toilet paper dispenser is lousy. Lightning around the mirror is poor. Makes it difficult to shave. The HVAC system is either hot or cold. The location is the best in the city. Gary, the hotels ambassador is always helpful and remembers returning guests. Valet parking takes along time because they removed the onsite parking garage. Probably try the Peninsula next time.
Great hotel, staff, location. Being very close to Rush Street and to the Magnificent Mile make this hotel a great choice. Updated rooms, cleanliness, and friendly staff. Only drawback is that it does not offer a good choice for early breakfast, but there is a Pancake House across the street.
