"Amazingly stylish hotel"
Pros Location on the beach & close to bars, restaurants, shops etc; Rooms are almost incomparable to anywhere Iv stayed before - large, ocean view, big beds, contemporary furniture with a retro twist; Free bike hire; Excellent service; Spectacular sunsets from terrace; List could go on & on... Cons Minor points - balcony furniture not designed for sitting on for too long; Bar/restaurant cool but on the expensive side.
"Perfect family vacation right on the beach"
About our trip... Canadian travelers visiting San Diego (1st time) for 9 days - mum, dad and 2 kids aged 3 years and the other 6 months old. We spent the first 4 nights downtown and the remainder at this beautiful hotel About the hotel... Hotel is situated right on Mission Beach and within walking distance from almost every required amenity - restaurants, ice-cream shop, beach, trails, grocery stores, etc.Probably the best looking and most luxurious hotel on Mission Beach. Hotel offers breath taking views from almost every part and has a top line restaurant called Jrdn that offers delicious food. Pros - Perfect sunset and sunrise views! - Booked via Expedia and were provided with free parking (did not use) and upgraded to the best room in the house room 309... - Room 309 is humangous with 2 balconies, 2 washrooms, king sized bed, sofa bed, 2 TVs, full stocked chargeable bar, fridge. separate living room and direct unobstructed views of the beach and ocean - As a family, the fridge and room service came handy - Top notch and affordable room service - we ordered breakfast every morning and enjoyed it - Interior decorations for the room were warm, welcoming and probably one the best ever - Families will appreciate this hotel for the room service, friendly staff, neighborhood, proximity to the beach, free bike rentals and beach towel/umbrella/toy service - We used their beach towel and umbrella service Cons - Wish there was a microwave Personally, we enjoyed our stay with Tower23 and would highly recommend. The posh and luxurious feel is complemented by the their very Cali-esq courteous service and something we really enjoyed. We will be back.
"Nice but clearly overpriced"
Stayded there with a friend in a two bed room with view on the inner court. Nice room but still quite basic and definitely not worth 400$.. Especially considering neither breakfast or carpark are included, the latter being an extra 30$.
We just got back from a family vacation to San Diego, and we stayed at Tower23. Our #1 priority was to find a hotel on the beach, yet still be reasonably priced. After lots of research, this one seemed to fit the bill. We LOVED this hotel!! The rooms were clean, comfy beds, and perfect location. Location is something I should expand on. Tower23 is located in a part of town called Pacific Beach. And you are aware of the laid back, California beach vibe the second you arrive. The hotel is right in front of a surfing "hot spot", and there was always plenty of surfers to watch first thing in the morning during high tide. Tower23 is within walking distance to lots of places to eat, too. There's a really nice restaurant called JRDN attached to it, as well as being a few steps away from a couple coffee shops. (You can get a great breakfast at Kono's Cafe for under $10!) A couple of things that initially concerned us when booking our trip turned out to not be that big of a deal. #1: There's no pool at Tower23. Our kids had so much fun playing on the beach, making sandcastles, and collecting shells, that I don't even think they noticed. PLUS Tower23 does have a remarkable patio with lounge chairs that we spent a lot of time on. #2: Parking at the hotel is $30/night. I know what you're thinking, but it was ABSOLUTELY WORTH IT. The valets that work at Tower23 are the best! They were all incredibly friendly, and had lots of ideas on where to go, what to do, and how to get there. It was also comforting knowing that our car was safe overnight. The first picture you see is taken from the patio, and the second is taken from the cool pier right next to the hotel. In conclusion, book your hotel at Tower23 if you're planning a trip to San Diego. You won't be disappointed! (I'm sure I forgot some things, so feel free to ask me any questions if you want.)
We chose San Diego for our honeymoon destination and our biggest hotel wish was to be on the beach. This hotel is just steps from the beach. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. Set up for cabs to pick us up, gave us recommendations for restaurants and sight seeing and brought up a bottle of champagne to help celebrate our recent marriage. The beach view from your room can't be beat. The beach area also has a very scenic view of the San Diego coastline. Our only cons from our stay would be that the area is actually quite busy and we also felt there were a lack of restaurants in the area. We hope to be able to visit San Diego again in the summer soon and would def consider staying at Tower23 again.
