"Business hotel with more character than most and lovely staff."
The Townhouse is located conveniently in the central business district of Cape Town. The building is fairly modern. You are well placed for many of the big down town companies and so on. Such attractions as Company Gardens and the Slave House are a short walk away. The reception is well staffed by friendly, helpful people and there is always someone on hand to help. Checking in and out was an easy and efficient process. I was able to arrange a late checkout without any fuss. The common areas on the ground floor are open plan, with a small bar and nice comfy seating areas. There is WiFi but I found it a bit patchy in the public areas. I found it easier to use the WiFI from the next-door coffee shop. It is all clean and well maintained in an appealing style. Service in the bar is at a relaxed pace and when ordering drinks for more than 3 or 4 people we always had to remind them one was forgotten or wrong. Food service in the public bar area is good, and the food was of a good standard. Plenty to chose from and well prepared. There is also a buffet option which is very good value if you eat plenty! The first floor restaurant is used for breakfast and more formal evening dining. We thoroughly enjoyed excellent breakfasts here, I can recommend the eggs benedict, and the service is friendly. However the service is very slow so if you have somewhere to be then make sure you come down early. The evening meals were of a very good quality, very enjoyable, friendly service but once again at a very slow pace. My room was tremendous. I was on the second floor, I was concerned I was oposite the elevator but there was no noise or disturbance in the night from this. The room was ample in size with a wet room for the shower and toilet and a freestanding bath was in the main bedroom. There was a good sized desk to work at an a terrace outside with a table and chairs. Everything was very clean in the room. The room was in very good decorative order. The bed was large and exceptionally comfortable. The bed linen was of good quality as were the towels etc. I loved the bath salts :) I would also warn that the lack of punctuality extends to the wake-up call service, so plan accordingly. My wake up calls were up to 15 minutes late. Overall, this is a very nice hotel, a great place to stay, but guests must make allowances for the speed of service in many aspects of the hotel.
"A nice place to stay"
A mid range Cape Town hotel, the Townhouse surpassed expectations - good clean, comfortable hotel rooms with friendly staff and good good (breakfast). I'll definitely use it again and it is in the heart of the City.
"Reasonable but the restaurant service is very disappointing "
Reasonable, comfortable and well located hotel in Cape Town CBD. However arrived after a very long day only to discover that firstly there is no valet service, security risk for a lady driving alone in the area. To top it off discovered that the restaurant closes at 21:00; one restaurant employee advised the FrontDesk to send us up to the restaurant to be turned back by a very rude lady who said 'we are closed and I am doing my job'.....very disjoint and appalling service!!!
Very nice hotel with fabulous restaurant. Great location in central city. Very Friendly staff good WiFi. Short walk to Saint George's Market, Company Gardens is just around the corner. Dinning is extremely good.
"Excellent business travel hotel"
Townhouse Hotel is centrally located in the Cape Town CBD. The rooms are well furnished, comfortable and clean. The free wifi connection in my room was of good standard. It is a reasonably priced (for Cape Town standards) four star hotel. The reception employees are very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately I did not get a cahnce to experience their breakfasts which is included the rate. I will definately stay at this hotel again.
