"Very central, comfortable room and helpful staff"
Very good location, close to company gardens and the slave museum - not far too for a txi ride to the Waterfront. Staff were very helpful and friendly and the rooms very comfortable. Great buffet breakfast
"Definitely never returning"
They demand that guests park in the street, walk to the reception to get a card, surrender that card upon exit and repeat the process. That might be ok for a conference guest, but it is exceptionally annoying, and an inconvenience for someone staying for several days. Definitely never returning to this place
The staff are friendly and helpful. The location is good. The Trees Restaurant in the hotel was awesome, I had the most delicious lamb chops and vegetables. I booked this hotel at least 7 months ago and they gave us a room right by the elevators, very noisy and unpleasant. I hate staying at hotel that appear to scrape every little Rand together over making a stay memorable, of course these places are in business for the money but the art in hospitality is to not let your guests feel that the profits are more important than their stay! This happens far too frequently with 4 and 5 star hotels we stay in, all over the world. Instant coffee in a 4 star hotel, really' No liquid body wash in the bathroom, in 2017 a horrible bar of soap, it's cheap to say the least! We have to pay for parking!! The Deluxe double room is tiny for South African standards. I will not be back at this hotel, totally unimpressed. My impression it's definitely not about the guest it's about the bottom line!
"Good choice for a short stay in Cape Town"
We stayed here for three nights at the beginning of a tour of South Africa. The hotel is situated in a quiet leafy area within walking distance of Long Street (where you can pick up the sightseeing buses). We arrived early morning and the reception staff were very helpful in securing an early check in for us. Our room on the 7th floor was lovely and bright and had a good view. It was of average size with good storage and a very nice bathroom which had opaque glass walls, with both a bath and separate shower. The reception and bar area is comfortable and breakfast on the first floor is excellent. The hotel is not really within walking distance of the V&A Waterfront and if you go there in the evening you definitely need to take a taxi both ways, which the hotel can arrange. No way would you want to walk around after dark. If I was visiting Cape Town again I would certainly be happy to return to the Townhouse Hotel.
This hotel is ideally situated for the city centre and is a well run friendly hotel. The restaurant is reasonably priced with a limited menu but well presented and well cooked, for a hotel restaurant the food is good. A good breakfast in the morning and freshly cooked. The only down side in the restaurant the service can be slow. The rooms are well appointed and clean but slightly on the small size. The staff were friendly and obliging especially the reception and professional. The tall white guy on reception was very helpful and an asset to the hotel. For a central situated hotel you could not go wrong choosing this. Well done to the staff.
