"Memorable night at Trump"
Had the best quick get away into the city to experience the Christmas season. The service was impeccable! We were greeted by a friendly staff with gifts for the kids. The beautiful decorations got us in the Christmas spirit the moment we walked in the door. We were all excited about the luxurious accomadations - plenty of room for our family of six. The concierge helped us line up a limo for our group of twelve and recommended great ideas for Christmas festivities. Brunch at Sixteen on Sunday was delicious and the service was fantastic. It was the first snow of the season and we had the best view possible. Thanks Trump staff for a memorable night with the family!
"Nice rooms but lacking good reception/front desk ambiance"
My husband and I stayed here for a night to attend a holiday party. First of all, very hard to find parking lot and then very hard to find parking. Poor signage to get to the lobby and we had to walk outside to get into the hotel, even though we parked in their assigned parking garage. Check in was easy but the front lobby lacks any ambiance and there was three staff at front desk who didn't seem to know how to direct guests. They provide no information on the hotel whatsoever, leaving you to figure it out. I expect more from a "luxury" hotel. The room was very nice. We were on 27th floor. Great views, great bedding, great toiletries and bathroom facilities. We loved the robes and slippers and turn down service. We asked for extra towels and got them within minutes. Again, when we checked out, we had the same experience with the front desk and they even directed us to the wrong parking garage, even though we stated we were in lower level 3. We saw no information on their restaurants, no information on their spa and no presence of concierge in the lobby. This is more like a boutique hotel...stay only if you're getting a good deal!
"Chicago for the Holidays"
The staff at Trump is what truly sets them apart. I have stayed at many hotels throughout the world. Every time I stay at Trump Chicago, I am amazed at how welcome and at home they make you feel. From the person who greets you in the front drive, to the front desk to even the maids. They are all extremely glad to see you and will to go above and beyond to make your stay remarkable. Their Bar/lounge, Rebar, is an awesome place to have a drink while over looking the Chicago River and all the action going on along the Michigan Ave. bridge. And their Spa is one of the best I've ever experienced.
"Really poor service levels let down a solid hard product"
I really hoped for a great stay but there were just too many things that spoilt this for me. Spent 4 nights at the Trump Tower at the end of November whilst attending a conference. I booked in December the year before and had to adjust the dates which I did over the phone a month or so before my stay. A couple of weeks before the trip I called again to make some requests and restaurant reservations, only to discover that the room was cancelled, which I can only assume was an error by the agent I spoke to at Trump when we adjusted the dates (even though I got the correct email confirmation after the change). I'd booked a double room with two beds as I was sharing with a friend, but these were now no longer available. The reply I got' 'What do you want me to do about' We don't have type available anymore so we can't help - how about a sofa bed for your friend''I was pretty shocked at this, and felt it was terribly dealt with. I was a bit embarrassed that I then had to push for a reasonable solution as I hate confrontation but this really really wasn't my screw up, it was Trump Hotels. Mistakes happen from time to time and I'm realistic about this, but the customer should not be the loser in this kind of mishap. Anyways... I pushed and was finally given a city view suite with a sofa bed, which still wasn't ideal for us as I'd have preferred two proper beds in a regular room but at least it was a reasonable compromise. So, the stay itself' Well, we arrived at the hotel at 4pm. No help with the door and no help with the bags was offered. They looked hugely overwhelmed and out of control. There was a 30 minute queue for the check in desk (its tiny - ridiculous), and when I got to the front I was told the room wasn't ready. When would it be ready' 'No idea - can't give any guarantees'. Could it be many hours' 'Impossible to say'. You can't make this stuff up. I asked why the delay - reply: 'The hotels really busy, its not our fault'. This constitutes what I would regard as the worst service I have ever had at a 5 star hotel, in fact, any hotel at all, ever. I was invited to go for a walk or something and they'd call. No drinks offered or in fact any kind of apology at all. Almost amusingly bad. I have to admit I wasn't actually that surprised as I'd already read some of the recent negative reviews. I wasn't alone - everybody in the queue looked irritated and I heard many others getting told that there room wasn't ready over two hours after check in. I finally got called at around 530pm, and after joining another 15 minute queue I got the room keys. (As an aside, my friend and I went for drinks in Rebar whilst we waited, and it was also similarly mediocre, and waited no less than 25 minutes for our server to bring the water we ordered, and that was after waiting 10 minutes for a server in the first place.) Things got better at this point -the room was to be fair lovely with an excellent hard product, and a nice view. No problems with this, and it matched the website almost exactly. The only negative was the noisy fridge given my friend was sleeping on the sofa bed in the living room, but this was minor and overall we were impressed with the accommodation. Other comments' Pool nice, gym excellent. Lockers nice, but main rainfall shower broken during our stay unfortunately. No big deal, although all adds up. No service etc. at pool side, but I knew this in advance. Would have liked a hot tub, and interestingly I heard others looking for one - something for the future' Xbox delivered to room with games - excellent, as was the service we received from the Concierge which was a really nice change and more up to standard. Check out was mediocre. It was efficient which is great, but there is no warmth at all in the service at reception, and no 'how was your stay' or 'can we help with onward travel'. I think this may be the first of many hotels I've stayed at where they didn't ask after the stay - I deeply suspect they didn't want to hear the answer given the other unhappy people I saw around the place at check in. Summary: Very good hard product, nice suites, mediocre small lobby area, great gym, but unfortunately service levels that on average were so far below par for a hotel like this it was almost amusing. Massive lines for check in are not okay, and getting into the room 2hr 30 min late is not okay. There was an obviously lack of management presence in the lobby, at least when we were there, so maybe this had something to do with it. In fairness, as we checked out I did see an arriving couple having what looked like a really nice experience, with people getting the door, helping with bags, drinks and cold towels at the check in desk and walked to the lifts etc. They even welcomed them to the hotel. Night and day to our experience, and maybe some people must be getting a better time, but I can't recommend it and will actively make sure I don't.
