"Typical Trump Standards - almost"
I have stayed in Trump Hotels before and I am typically Impressed with the staff and lodging. Here I was not impressed with the checkin. The front desk was understaffed and not very friendly. The room was very nice with a good sized balcony. What was interesting about the room was the lack of privacy. The toilet and shower each were encased by translucent glass and the tub was located very central in the room with a curtain. With a family of four it was often challenging to maintain privacy and modesty. This hotel is good for a couple but not so great for a family. The pool area also is nice but seemed to get overwhelmed and a bit trashy. A nice hotel but needs more attention.
"Refused to honor Room Upgrade for American Express Fine Hotels & Resorts"
We booked this hotel through American Express Platinum Card's Fine Hotels & Resort program, which gives a room upgrade but although we made two requests they refused to honor it. When we checked in they did not offer it. So I asked the man checking us in. He said that they did not have housekeeping but try it later that day. So I went and asked again after 6 hours. I was told they have no rooms available. It is easter weekend - the hotel is practically empty and we went and checked on the hotel website and all room types are available to be booked. So we are being fed nonsense - they just don't want to honor the commitment. Room 3016 - stayed Apr 14th, 15th, 16th of 2017.
"Reasonable hotel - but nothing extraordinary"
We don't have any huge complaints with this hotel, but it didn't completely blow us out of the water like some other 5 star hotels/Trump hotels have. It's in a new, built up part of town called Punta Pacifica, a 15 min drive from Casco Viejo. Look at pictures of the rooms- my mother really didn't like the "open" bathroom. As if you get up in the middle of the night, there's not really a separate door for stuff. There is a separate "door" for the shower and toilet, however its more like a barrier instead of an actual door. I didn't mind it as much, but yeah it's something to consider. Beds were comfortable, there's a nice sized patio, and rooms were spotless. Room service was also delivered in a timely manner. The pool area was particularly beautiful- the infinity pools were very cool. Food was good, however people didn't come to ask if you wanted anything until after we asked or waited 20 minutes. Breakfast on a terrace was very nice with a big buffet. Service wasn't bad, but there was nothing particularly above average when checking in or ordering food. Our experience in the lobby bar was very good though. Overall I'd recommend it. Next time, I'd probably stay in a boutique hotel in Casco Viejo as we really loved that area.
The location was excellent and the service in all aspects was excellent. But we had much higher expectations for a Trump Hotel to be more elegant. The decor was stark modern. We liked the food at La Vespa at the ferry dock the best.
"Great downtown Panama City location"
New clean and fancy hotel. Casino is small but well appointed. A decent selection of bars and restaurants. I thought the room was small for the price. It was good for a night and close enough to the airport to make it convenient.
