"'Two Oceans No sleep stay'"
The staff was friendly, the room clean but to sleep is impossible. Next door to the Hotel is a night club that operates until 4am. We chose the Urban Chick Boutique Hotel due to the location as it is close to UCT for the start and finish of the Two Oceans marathon. Due to the extremely loud music and shouting of people we had no sleep for the two nights that we stayed there. On enquiry from reception about the noise I was informed to come down to reception for ear plugs. That confirmed that previous guests had the same complaints. We were also unable to attend breakfast the two mornings and requested a breakfast pack, I can not recommend this as the quality of the food was not good. As we left the Hotel at 4am the party club was open and the music pumping I can really not recommend this Hotel unless you want to be out for clubing
"Wonderful time. Right in the heart of the Cape Town night scene."
Room was neat and very comfortable. It is noisy due to the clubs and pubs, but definitely suited to those who enjoy being out and having late nights. Lots of choice regarding food/restaurants, bars and clubs. Very vibey area.
"Loved every minute "
I loved every minute of my stay at Urban Chic. Yes there is noise as mentioned in other reviews but I had read up before booking so knew where I was booking so it didn't really bother me. The hotel offers earplugs but I didn't need them. The staff were amazing, booked me on several tours, booked me Table Mountain and Robben Island tickets and nothing I needed was too much effort. They always smiled and were friendly. Breakfast was delicious with quite a wide variety to choose from; all a la carte. I especially enjoyed the free cake and coffee! I would definitely recommend!
The noise from Long Street is seriously understated. Not recommended for anyone wanting to sleep between 10:30pm and 5:00am. All other features of the hotel are as advertised except the locale which is an overriding negative.
"Stay away from this hotel- worst experience from a frequent traveller"
Not a single thing good to say about this hotel... 1.I was told that parking is not guaranteed so I would have to park on the street if there is no parking available. 2. Receptionist not trained- did not know the difference between room service and housekeeping 3. Receptionist ignored questions when she was asked and just sat down and looked away 4. Room was serviced and when I arrived back to my room, there were no towels and toilet paper 5. Safe in the room did not lock. Receptionist was called two days in a row to fix 6. Poor wifi connection which the receptionist has no feedback on 7. I requested to speak to the general manager on a Sunday after some of the issues. The receptionist advised that the general manager does not come in or take calls on a Sunday. 8. Upon check- out, I tried to raise the above to the general manager, Siranne van Onselen, who was rude, abrupt and was not prepared to listen to any of the issues. Instead she defended the hotel and receptionist, and accused me of being "rude" and a "bully" numerous times during our discussion. This was done in the presence of other guests at the reception area. Even when I advised her that the conversation is being recorded, she did not care. When I mentioned that this would be taken up with the owner of the hotel, she was more than happy to respond by saying that the owner is her cousin...clearly, this explains the arrogance. Overall, never again for me !!!!
