Check in was smooth and friendly. The valet quickly parked our car while the front desk clerk checked us in. The valet was ready with our bags when we got our room keys. The people of Croatia are amazingly friendly. Bartul and Mira are outstanding servers at breakfast with welcoming smiles and warm service. I actually wanted to give them a hug on our last morning. Bed was comfortable and I didn't feel my husband's movements. Request a room on an upper floor to have more privacy on your balcony. We were on the 7th floor. It was quiet and offered a great view. It was roomy and we didn't feel cramped. Bathroom was nice and very clean. The hotel was very considerate to send me a bottle of prosecco and a rose as a happy birthday to me. Beach area was great. Also chairs available on the rocky pier. Additional chairs available on the fifth floor where the outdoor pool is located. There is also an indoor pool that is kept at a nice warm temperature. The spa is a nice option. The gym had good equipment and the best view I've ever had while working out indoors.
I don't think i have ever stayed at a more perfect hotel. I spent months reviewing hotel to make sure my honeymoon was perfect. I eventually picks the President Hotel. The hotel did not disappoint. From the moment we inside the hotel, my wife and I were taken back. The open floor plan of the lobby with its incredible view of the beach immediately refreshes weary travelers. Upon checking in all guests are greeted with champagne. Because it was out honeymoon, we were upgraded to a 'Premium' room. Unlike most other European hotel rooms, these were HUGE. Big beds, big balcony, big bathroom, big sofas, big closets. on top of all that, the hotel sent us a bottle of wine and a basket of fruit to congratulate my wife and I. The room was very clean and tidy. The balcony was about 100sqft and had a great view of the beach. The continental breakfast that was served was the best i have ever eaten at a hotel. until this day I am still craving their bacon and juice. The breakfast area is perched above the beach and is big enough to support 150 people. The the biggest upside comes to the beach. This hotel is one of the only ones in Dubrovnik that has its own private beach. Its clear water and pebble sand was absolutely stunning. The beach is also long enough that if you want privacy, it wont be hard to find. Hands down, it is the best beach in the city. The only problem the hotel has (and i say this lightly) is that it is not in the city center. This is not a big deal for me (as it allowed to hotel to have a more of an exclusive feel). But i can imagine it might be a problem for some. Nonetheless, the hotel is a 10 min bus ride (5 min taxi ride) to the the city center. furthermore, there is a bus stop right in front of the hotel (buses come every 5-10 min). IN NO WAY AM I EXAGGERATING. THIS IS THE BEST HOTEL I HAVE EVER STAYED AT....HAND DOWN. FIVE STAR SERVICE, FIVE STAR ROOMS, FIVE STAR BEACH, FIVE STAR FOOD.
"Beautiful modern hotel"
We stayed here the last week of October, the final week before it closed for the winter. We found it an excellent hotel, possibly the best we have stayed in. The room had a very comfortable 7ft bed, two sofas, a coffee table, dressing table, and wall mounted to. The wardrobe had plenty of hangers and drawers ( the number of hotel wardrobes that don't have drawers!). The bathroom had a super shower and a nice deep bath. We did not use all the facilities, and the restaurant is a bit " canteen- like" but offered a wide variety of food. Whilst I agree with a lot of the negative comments about the restaurants, I feel that the overall impression was a positive one in that the choice was large, and the chefs and waiting staff were very helpful and tried to give you what you wanted. Customer service was good but not impressive, however, it did not alter our view that we have no hesitation in recommending this hotel. An extra plus is that the bus stops right outside. Don't bother hiring a car, use the bus. We never waited more than 10 minutes. We also hired a private taxi for the day which although pricey gave us a real feel for the country.
"very reastful holiday"
The hotel was excellent staff could not do enough for you very ,comfortable super location shower and bathroom great size and pleanty towels to use the only short Cummings where the food was not fanstatic just alright
"Hotel great and Old Town Dubrovnik superb. Food brilliant, pay for good local wine. Tick to revisit."
Valamar president is a lovely, welcoming hotel. Great rooms, great breakfast Iif they speed up on the coffee) ad great facilities. Could have been more attentive on the replenishment of the room bar and coffee ant breakfast so maybe 4.5 star. But lovely people on reception. Quiet location if that is what you want but with shop and restaurants nearby which are good, especially on the food side! Try Komin restaurant for great "under the bell" cooked local food or Zoe restauarant for great seafood. Also couple of cafe/restaurants in the park over the road did really good basic food. You take the No.6 bus to the main gate of the Walled City. gets crammed but part of the experience!! The Old City is simply beautiful. Walk the walls unless you don't like heights or have respiratory issues etc. Harbour is very pretty and plenty of trips - and people to sell them! 314 restaurants!! Great churches. Go back out of the main gate to where the bus dropped you off and there is a restaurant called Dubravka. Really, really nice!! We went twice despite all the other choices. Food brilliant. Watch the wine, you need to be paying 240 to 300 kune for a godd local wine. We stayed local on everything - when in Rome etc... Nautika restaurant superb also but not a menu for kids. We will go back. Next time we will try a hotel next to the ols town. Not the Imperial at the main gate as reckon it will get noise' But when you go out of the harbour on a boat trip you will see a couple with beach on the left. On is called Hotel Argentina the other Excelsior. First choice by the locals was Argentina. But if you want the tranquility then the President was excellent. Either way, just do B&B as there is so much choice on where to eat/dine. Apparently gets rammed in July and August plus the cruise ships in port so maybe look June or Sept/Oct.
