Stayed at this hotel as part of a Riviera Holidays package. Hotel Spotless and rooms well presented and always spotless. This hotel supplies tea making facilities which was welcome as the tea and coffee supplied in the resturant was usually warm never hot Stopped at hotel during mid may. The manager turned off the aircon and despite being asked to by our tour manager it was only turned on the afternoon prior to us leaving, as was the water features in the garden and the water wall outside reception Hot food was always lukewarm and the sausages were floating in hot water. The chef cooking eggs on the griddle thought it was acceptable to break six eggs and breaking the yolk on five and was surprised when you refused the egg offered. Chef Ramsey would have a field day in this 4 star hotel. It was allright if you wanted cold food but if you wanted hot food to be hot forget it in this 4 star hotel Ive had better food at "greasy spoons" as I go about my business in the uk When we stopped for lunch on our trip most of the 46 people on our coach headed for local resturants which did pizza and we laughed saying it was good to get hot food hot. Guests on the coach came from diverse parts of the United Kingdom and Northern Island so it was not just me. On our last day we had to be out of the hotel by 8 to catch our flight, some of us were outside the restaurant at 6-45 for breakfast which was usually served from 7.00am All the food was already set out but the catering manager still didn't open the doors till 7 therefore the food had already been laid up for half an hour before we were let in. PS The bacon was fine if you liked it crisp and burnt And this is a hotel who has an award winning chef. Chef Ramsey should kick this 4 star hotel into serving food that a four star hotel should. If that "hot" food was put in front of you in a restaurant in England you would send it back
"Lovely hotel.Spotlessly clean"
This is a huge hotel but it deals really well with its volume of clients. We had a sea facing room with balcony and that was lovely to see the spectacular sunset over the mountains. The dining room is vast and quite noisy until you get used to it but we always found a table .There were plenty of pleasant staff. Filip who waited on table was charming . The choice of food was vast both at breakfast and dinner. All out door areas were spotless with nothing broken or tatty. The indoor pool was a bonus as an odd storm passed over whilst we were there. Just one small negative coming from a country where we have no smoking in any public area we could always smell smoke slightly in our room as smoking is permitted on the balcony. A great hotel
"Valamar Lacroma Dubrovnik"
My wife and I spent three weeks at this hotel, taking excursions to Dubrovnik's sights and excursions to other countries that rose from what was formerly Yugoslavia. It sits in a park-like setting with a pair of "sister" hotels. Although the Valamar Lacroma is not on the water, guests are entitled to use the beach of one of its associate hotels, which is an easy stroll away. Also, within easy walking distance - and this from one who was awaiting a knee replacement at the time of our visit - is a small mall that includes some good dining options. We chose the Piramida most often for their seafood dishes and their pizza. Directly behind our hotel was the Cumin Restaurant. If you are a big eater, you will love their portions. We shared an order of grilled meats between us one evening and there were still leftovers! A specialty here is meat (veal and chicken were two choices) cooked "under the bell", which has our full endorsement. While we are on the topic of dining, it must be said that the Valamar Lacroma, itself, has some fine options. We loved, in particular, the buffet breakfast that was offered: eggs made-to-order, a good variety of meats, juices, fruits, cheeses, pastries "to die for" and a whole lot more! Service was very friendly and most efficient! My little lady and I made a great deal of use out of the City's commendable bus service. There is a bus stop a short distance above the hotel & another in the park-like area behind. The rooms of the Valamar Lacroma were found to be comfortable and well-maintained. The front desk people were pleasant, helpful and prepared to "go the extra mile". We wanted, for example, to experience a traditional Croatian Easter dinner. The receptionist assisted us in making a choice, provided us with good directions and even phoned to make the reservations! I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel and will happily make use of what it has to offer should we ever pass this way again!
"A Great Base to Explore and Admire Dubrovnic"
We were in a party of 15 celebrating a 60th birthday...the rooms were well equipped, the staff friendly and everything worked well. I was even up for a swim in the very warm indoor pool at 7am before the very lavish breakfast. We all loved it and would be back in a shot!
"Nice Hotel, although location a bit far from old town"
We visited Dubrovnik as part of a group tour. Unfortunately for us the day we reached we had awful weather, lots of rain. The hotel was the redeeming factor. The best hotel on a tour of Croatia with all the facilities you could want. Lovely room with a view of the sea. A kettle in the room was the plus point for my husband. An excellent breakfast and dinner. An indoor and outdoor pool, a gym. what more can you ask for' The hotel is great for those who want to have a relaxing resort holiday and want to go in to town occasionally. We visited in the last week of April, which I don't think is peak season yet the hotel was full. Popular with tour groups so definitely not for those who are seeking quiet time. All in all it was a good stay.
