"Exactly as pictured. Great hotel but not cheap!"
We stayed for only one night and had a great experience. In fairness, we booked the hotel last minute on hotels tonight. So for the discounted price we had a great time. I can't say we would have been thrilled had we paid full price. The rooms were on the smaller side but very clean. Comfy beds. Overpriced room service, and the bar as well but decent food and they were quick to deliver. $49 valet parking and they literally parked it in an empty spot 100 feet from where we got out. That was disappointing but expected. Very close to the beach and the pier. The hotel is exactly as you would imagine a Viceroy to be.
"Relaxed and stylish hotel, with a positive energy."
Great place to explore LA from only a few blocks from shops and restaurants. The poolside cabanas and bar attract all ages and types of traveller & the friendly, helpful professional staff really made for a positive energy. A special thanks to Lance the concierge who secured some great dinner reservations and provided helpful travel tips on getting around. We will be back .
"Fabulous location and most comfortable beds"
There is a lot to like about The Viceroy but compared to The London (where we also stayed on this trip) it could do with a bit more attention to detail. Let's start with the good bits - the location is great, easy access to lots of fun places in Santa Monica and Venice Beach and the room (a junior suite) was a decent size and had an incredibly comfortable bed and the decor is bright and stylish. The gym is small but well equipped and the bar is great, good service and delicious bar snacks. The valet guys are also terrific. Less great was the mini bar - "we've run out of gin" - sad news after long flight as well as lengthy time to access room - "supervisor is checking housekeeping" and the price of filter coffee at breakfast - $13. Really! These are small things in the scheme of things but could do with improving. PS breakfast across the road at Cora's Coffee Shop good alternative to expensive coffee
This is the first time we stayed at Viceroy. It was ok, location is good, the design is interesting. The rooms are small but nice. The service is also good. I think that i will return to West Hollywood the next time, so i cant say that i will go back here.
"A rip off"
They charge 9$ for a bottle of water and provide beach towels for 20$, which may be ok in some places, but they also charge a non-negotiable 25$ resort fee.I had not seen this when I made the reservation on Booking.com. They actually charged me 26$, and when I complained, they just shrugged. Every other resort I have ever been to (Mauritius, Mexico, Monaco, Italy, Spain, Tanzania etc....) provides water and towels. So I felt doubly ripped off. They also say they have bikes available. Even when I went down at 8am to reserve the bikes in Dec, there were no bikes available. One was missing a lock, one was MIA, and the third they were not sure about. They claim to be a luxury hotel, but the bathroom doors do not slide completely shut. It was so bad in our first room (which also needed a paint job), we had to change rooms. It was only slightly better in the second room. Not a terribly romantic situation. And they play that game where they give you a not so great room until you complain, then they put you in a decent room. I do not find that a luxury experience. Concierge's restaurant recs were uninspired.
